Mayoral Candidate Michael Della Penna III Speaks Out

Michael Della Penna III has left a new comment on your post ""SENIOR HOUSING” LANDLORD GIVES COMEGYS’ OPPONENTS....":

"Joe, I went there myself on Thursday morning, and spoke to the gentleman there and he must have mistaken me for someone from the city even after I introduced myself to him. He went on to tell me about the paving of the road in front of the development. Than I again told him why I was there and he told me that I could not even go give a friend of mine my information before I had the approval of Mr. Schulster. He also said he would get back to me and never has.

I have spoken to Laura at the Daily Rag and she told me in no uncertain terms that there was no story there and no laws were being broken. Also this morning when myself and Mr. Caldwell were there a crew from WBOC were to be there and never showed said another story was more important about the weather. I have also tried to contact Mr. Schulster by phone with no responce."

Mr Penna you have "MOTSY" Ill give you that. No matter what happens in this election you had the guts and the pride to put yourself out there and thats very honorable Sir. With the shape this city is in right now how in the world could the weather be more important than the fairness of this election. W.B.O.C. please dont tell me your following the daily times play-book, please tell me you are better than that.

Now that this is out in the open Gary and Shanie just won't show up tomorrow and all will be well. As usual nothing will be done about any of this.

It's Salisbury.

Reading the quality of that letter, as well as the unprofessional reference to the local paper as the "Daily Rag," Penna has shown he's probably more qualified to run a fishing club then he is a city of approximately 25,000 people.

I hope he's not investing too much of his own money on his campaign. If he is, it's wasted capital. Since this blog likes to predict, my prediction is he's the fourth horse in a four horse race.

And just so you don't confuse me as being a supporter for Comegys, or Comegys himself, I listen to that audio file of the council meeting. Inspiring thought and articulation apparently aren't Comegys strong points either. If this is the best that Salisbury has to offer in the way of candidates, no wonder Salisbury always appears to be running in place.

But to draw better, Salisbury has to do better. That $25,000 annual salary for the mayor is an insult. The citizens want to pay a part-time wage, they'll get part-time help. Or as my grandfather would say, "If you pay peanuts, you'll end up getting monkeys."

I agree with Mr. Wilkersons comments about this 100 per cent.
The more I see or hear about this Mike Della Penna, the more I like him. Keep hitting them hard Mike, you'll get my vote this week.

Mr. Della Penna was told by a worker there that he could not even go give information to a friend living there without clearing it through Mr. Schuster?

Beg to differ, but that is illegal as hell.

The Daily Rag said it's not illegal? There's a reliable source -- NOT.

Joe, you know attorneys. Can you ask one about hawking one candidate when you are a recipient of federal funds?

I want my tax money back if it's being used to promote particular political slime.

"Spin City" note: any notion of being taken seriously as a future mayor goes out the window when followers of this blog scratch their heads daily about how more Americans are being shot on Salisbury streets rather than Fallujah streets and the potential candidate not only doesn't appreciate this fact/tragedy, but subsequently pulls a "Dukakis in the Tank" and unbelievably states he goes to bed with unlooked doors in same said violent climate. Do the correct thing on Tuesday-Caldwell AND Ireton. Then go from there.

I have spoken to Andy Harris about this as well as a couple of attorneys and it simply stinks. There's no doubt that in the very least he is abusing his position. You have to also understand that more details have to be given for any attorney to make a solid judgment call on this one. There's no question there's a fine line being drawn here and many opinions are that it is illegal. However, I'm not an attorney, nor have I paid for any advice on this matter. I should add, I do a LOT of work presenting these matters. It is NOT my job to hire an attorney and or follow up with many of the matters I bring to the table. It's YOUR City, YOU do something with it. I think I do more than enough with my time and money for ALL of the Citizens.

I'll call Schuster--his facility is to be serving this community and its present residents. He is denying them their right to hear from all candidates equally. I bet he plans to use the Cottages bus to transport them to the polls.

Gary takes the back door in--Caldwell, Della Penna and some of their supporters were out in the bad weather today getting their messages out. What a contrast: Gary does the sneeky way; the others do the RIGHT WAY.

Call Schuster and let him know how you feel about what he is doing.

Does anyone have the contact information on the parent company? It might help to let Mr. Schuster's superiors know what he is doing. It could very well impact their wallets and ability to get federal funds in the future.

Joe, Candi here again. I see what my friend means. This blog is addictive!

Anyway, sorry, I'm not an attorney, so I can't speak with enough authority on this. But I can share what Spelman University requires (bold is mine):

"Federal law prohibits Spelman College from raising funds for a political candidate or political party. This prohibition includes using Spelman facilities, personnel or other resources for partisan political activities. In addition, employees may not use the College seal, letterhead, symbols, or other identifiable marks of institutional affiliation (including photos of Spelman buildings) to endorse or promote political parties, campaigns or candidates. Spelman funds cannot be used to reimburse individuals for political donations, and no employee can implicitly or explicitly require any Spelman employee to make a political contribution. Watch out, too, for web pages – for example, a link to only one candidate’s web page or information on a Spelman website may be interpreted as favoring a particular candidate. Faculty and staff who advise campaigns or candidates on policy or strategic issues may do so but must be explicit in communications that they do not represent the College in this regard.

Candidate Appearances on Campus. Candidates for political office may speak on campus at the invitation of the College or organizations affiliated with the College as long as:

* Spelman provides equal speaking opportunities to political candidates seeking the same office;
* Spelman as an institution is not indicated as being in support of or opposition to the candidate (this should be stated explicitly when the candidate is introduced and in announcements of the candidate’s attendance);
* No political fundraising occurs; and
* The appearance is a speech, a Q& A session, or a similar format typical of an educational activity at an academic institution."

Even though Mr. Schuster didn't use the development's letterhead, he promoted one candidate and plans to use the development's facilities.

It seems to me that the citizens and voters are only being made aware that one candidate is running for mayor of this town. This has happened many times in history that there is only one candidate in a particular race, and in a setting like a retirement home, may be made to be plausible. I would think the Daily Times, being the top news agency in town, would be most interested in interviewing the citizens of this facility and ask them if they are aware of the other candidates, and have access to their websites, and have heard their views. Tomorrow is an important day for this to happen, unless there is another news source that could educate these folks before the paper reports it whenever is convenient.

Although I agree with Anon 4:29 PM said, I think it was rude to attack Mike that way. I do feel the same way, but I prefer to keep my feelings to myself about him. I like Mike's honesty and he is down to earth. I shall state this again, I think Mr. Della Penna should drop out and support Ireton and/or Caldwell and run to unseat Bubba Comagees in the next election. I think Mr. Della Penna's honesty and hard work would make him an excellent candidate for District 2. Cohen, Campbell and Della Penna would be an asset to the city working together.

I love the monkey quote as well. Kinda puts Bubba into perspective.

When did Laura become an attorney? Did she attend law school? A cranial lobotomy is a pre-requisite prior to hiring at the Tighlman Times.

For what it's worth, Mike's a decent guy but he's a complete BS Artist. Since we have so many BS Artists around here, everyone seems to just get used to them. However, Mike is close friends with Lynn Cathcart, Jonathan Taylor, John Robinson and the likes of such regular names.

I don't feel sorry for Mike as he has put his name and face out there and who can forget his temper tantrum months ago when I first brought him back to light as the Used Car Salesman. The F-Bomb was flying everywhere and he's just not made to be a trusting politician.

Just because he's running doesn't mean he's this great guy. Mike is selling someone that he's the man for the job, (IMHO) so he doesn't have to go out looking for a real job. He wears the same suits to these events and then tries to impress upon everyone that he doesn't need the job, yet he's renting a home with no name or address in the local phone books. He claims to have owned all these businesses and he's a self made, retired millionaire. Sorry Mike, I'm not buying it. In fact Mike, BS!

I have seen Mike's type out there for years and no matter what anyone says, he's the same old, same old, John Roibinson BS Artist who desires a ton of attention and will walk away in the end acting like he can't believe he lost.

He never showed up for Council Meetings, Work Sessions or ANYTHING else put off by the City for the past 4-5 years. Who are you people trying to kid here? He's not even Council material.

To me it's simply, I lost my job, I could use the work, I really don't want to search for a new job so I'll simply run for Mayor and help the Comegys Ticket by hopefully pulling away enough votes from Ireton and Caldwell to keep Gary in the running.

If Della Penna was truly wanting to help he'd pull his name from the race tomorrow morning because there's absolutely no chance in the next 100 years that the Citizens would be stupid enough to get out there just to vote for him. He hasn't raised $50.00 towards his campaign. He's there to take votes away from other candidates and that's all there is to it. He hangs out with Comegys and Shields and anyone who throws him a vote is simply helping Barry=Gary to perhaps win.

Mike, I tell it like it is and you know for a fact I'm right on here. While I don't think it's fair what some have done here, referencing this Post, you're not kidding me in any way, shape or form. Mike has also aligned himself with Jonathan, an anti Albero Blogger who bashes my Wife, photo shops her and does everything he can to bring her down. He writes comments on his Blog and then says, that wasn't me. Mike, you are so full of crap it isn't funny. I wasn't born yesterday. You never once got on there and denied it wasn't you and you never acted like you were upset someone was using your name and making such statements. It's OK thought Mike, I don't go to that Site any more, so say and deny all you want. In fact Mike, I strongly recommend you do go there and just sit and wait for about 60 seconds. That's all it will take before you're forced off the Internet until your computer people can get your computer straight again and or you buy a new one with that stimulus check from Obama. Or Unemployment, or section 8, or food stamps, or disability, whatever excuse or BS you want to throw out at us next like the whale.

Hey Mike, why don't you tell everyone the successful businesses you used to own so we can look them up and see if the BS you're feeding everyone is true? You won't because you're Gary and Barrie's Boy Toy.

My guess, Mike invented the shower curtain hangers and sold them door to door for years. Then he invented aluminum siding in the 70's and ultimately ended up seling Used Cars on 100% commission, so I guess you could say he was into business for himself with millions upon millions of dollars worth of inventory. Just not HIS inventory.

Nevertheless, this story should get really good. If you want to do some good for this community Mike, get out of the race tomorrow morning. You know you have no shot whatsoever in this race. Prove me wrong!

Yup he was placed as a candidate to make Gary look good. Takes a lot of buttrash to do that.

The personality of a rattlesnake.
