Armed Robbery

There was an armed robbery at the Thirsty's at the intersection of Church and East Main Streets in Salisbury Friday night. I have heard nothing in the news about it. Strange. Clerk told me Sat. night that the masked robber jumped the counter and put a gun to his head and took money from the register. There may also have been a lookout assisting outside the store, which had no customers at the time.

Get this--the robber wasn't happy just pulling this off--he fired a single shot into the ceiling as he ran to the door and fled. No injuries. Parts of ceiling had been removed in attempt to recover the bullet. Crime is just getting amazing around here. I know of at least five break-ins in the City Park/Buena Vista area in the last few months. Only one I know of has resulted in an arrest.

About two weeks ago an elderly woman on Buena Vista was robbed of her purse, struck in the head, and knocked to the ground by another one of these scumballs. Little or no police reports on any of it.

Joe, just to give your readers a heads up. There have been 5 break-ins in the Pittsville road/Bob Smith rd area in the past week. Just this friday the jerks broke into a house and stole a computer and prescription drugs. Then they came back friday night and broke into the house next door to the daytime house and stole the man's entire van full of construction equipment and everything out of all the vehicles in the yard. State Police and Sheriff's Dept.are aware and are investigating this and other robberies in this normally quiet area of the county. The one house was hit 2 times in the last week. and Last night the neighbors scared off the people again. Possibly 2-3 people doing this. I am just trying to make people more aware of what is going on in the area. Description of vehicle so far is late model ford truck possibly ext. cab .

I woke up this morning, Sunday morning March 1, 2009 at 6:30 am to my radio alarm clock. On WICO 1320 am I was grossed out by what came on. It was Monday Morning with the Mayor and it was oviously taped because she was talking about tomorrow morning being election day. Guess who she was interviewing for Candidate for Mayor. You got it, Bubba Comagees. It was nothing but a free plug to get her boy bubba in office. It was full of lies and every other word was uh and um. She is setting him up for nothing more than a fluff piece for the election. It is extremely disgusting and a waste of air time. If you turn it on now you may get to hear some of it. He is now blasting the other candidates saying they don't have the insite or experience like he does. You may be able to catch some of it now if you turn it on.

Barrie Parsons Tilghman is taking advantage of her position and free time with that radio station to plug her personal agenda. Everyone should be outraged with that and call WICO and demand they pull the plug on her show tomorrow. If you don't Bubba might get through the Primary. Did any of the other candidates get interviewed on her show? NO! Just Bubba Comagys.

Barrie Tilghman and Bubba this is very unethical of you two and extremely corrupt.

Everyone should call Delmarva Broadcasting at 410-219-3500 and demand they don't air her show anymore.

You can also email Bill Reddish at billreddish@comcast.net starting now.

of course there are no reports. it is because only a few people are capable of "picking up the ball". All the other cops are going to do as little as possible. Can you blame them? The few that are capable have "dropped the ball". Replace them and the lazy beat cops will start working harder.

She doesn't care who she hurts or how bad it makes her look in the eyes of the citizens of this city.
She has no scruples and apparently very thick skin over them. Great that she will soon be out of office, thank the Lord!

Hopefully MOVE out of the area.

What ever happened to Mr. Ted Shea from the Wicomico County Executives Office? Did they ever catch that criminal that attempted to murder Mr. Shea?

If this keeps up, Salisbury is going to have to waste money on an even bigger rug to sweep things under!

It looks like the stores will have to put the workers behind glass walls like they have in the city. A protective barrier, if you will. You know, with the little slide out drawers. What a society we have now. I still remember when they killed poor Mr Hammond on the corner of Dykes road and south division. Seventeen dollars is what they got.

Please share all details you might have from the Bob Smith/Pittsville Road area. I live here too and we need to keep an eye out on this situation. Thanks.

Addition to 12:40 PM:
The house that got hit on Friday with the van full of construction equip was also a victim of a daytime break-in about a month or so ago where they had a safe full of personal papers and savings bonds taken.

If we get this big snow storm that is predicted, crime will be down for Monday and Tuesday. Just be careful tonight! They may need to rob and steal for beer and cigarette money tonight!

You do not know the half of it, Salsibury has a huge amount of robberies adn burglaries this year already. Haven't heard that have you, haven't seen the Chiefy on the news telling people to lock up and be safe. He doesn't care he lives somewhere else. The numbers will shock you.

This store is very near to the Mt. Hermon road SECU credit union where Ted Shea was shot and robbed. Sounds to me like we have a trigger happy homicidal robber on the loose in the neighborhood and that the police should be warning store owners and residents about it, not hiding it. I have never heard of a robbery where shots were fired not being reported to the news media. The recent Daily Times editorial touting Salisbury as a safe city with relatively little crime was ridiculous. The editor must be so preoccupied worrying about his job that this brain has disconnected. Or, maybe, for some reason, they are in Tilghman and Chiefy's pocket and don't want to rock the election boat, which until now I never believed. Chief Dykes was a hell of a man and officer whose police work and professionalism make this Baltimoron look like a dumbass. May he rest in peace. We sure could use him now.

I just hope no one tries to break into my 83-year-old mother's house. She has a loaded double barrel by her bed (and knows how to use it) and a big dog to boot. Woe to anyone who tries.

I hate to agree with some of the militant gun-lovin' readers but this crap is not going to stop until one of these potential victims pulls a Bernard Goetz and goes off on some criminals. They obviously do not fear the police for whatever reasons.

It's not hard to see where things are going if crime keeps up like it has been in Salisbury - particularly if Mr. Fireboat gets elected.

If things continue "as is" and continue to be swept under the rug, sooner or later a LOT of citizens are going to say, "Enough is enough. If paid law enforcement won't do anything to protect me, I'll protect myself." That's when citizens will start to carry concealed weapons - whether licensed to or not. Also, we'll start to see vigilante justice spread. Salisbury will become a war zone on the streets.

Think that can't happen here, Bubba, Barrie, Shanie, and you SPD officers who aren't doing your jobs as you should? Think again! Every dog has its day, and when enough taxpayers get tired of seeing double digit tax increases spent on crap like the Fire Palace, while they themselves are attacked in their homes and places of business, you "Idiot Three" on City Council - and the current so-called police chief and Mayor - will find out what frustrated citizens are capable of!

Wake up before it's too late, study your history books, and serve the PEOPLE! Things don't have to be the way they are in Salisbury.

Anonymous 1:26. That is the only solution. The break-ins on Bob Smith Rd really irritates me. I have a right to know if there is a crime spree going on near my home and the local news outlets are doing nothing to report it. Typical of the apologists that live here. This place gets worse daily.

Thats funny, if this is true Salisbury PD did not send a BOLO over to county agencies (to Be On the Look Out for suspects). A real and all to often problem, that will get someone hurt! Absolutely insane, wake up Chief Webster and cooperate with you allied agencies.

Thelast i heard on the robbery is they have no suspects and no other description other than late model ford ext cab p/u.
I live in the area too and my entire family can fire weapon , either shotgun or pistol, take your pick. I just hope they catch the fools that did this before we do. Our neighborhood will take care of their own.

All this crime makes me want to want to put a big poster on door.
Don't worry about the dog...
BEWARE of the Owner! New gun and have not taken classes yet!

I'm 5:20 and I forgot to add this.
I'm short too so if the perpetrator is of average height, my aim is about right between the waist and the thighs if you get my
" aim "...lmao
