County Park Meeting 24 Say Yes, 6 Say No

Fight and complain about it all you want, after this meeting was over with 24 people said they were for it and only 6 said they were against it. You've got to give the County credit. At least they went ahead and invited the public to speak openly BEFORE any decision was made.

It should be interesting to see what comments pop up here now as many people like to complain just to complain but like I said, the County opened the floor for citizens to speak out for or against it and residents overwhelmingly said they were for it.

When the citizens were adamantly against it the last time, the County listened and reached out to other property owners and saved a small fortune on this future purchase over the last one.

I didn't attend to voice my opposition because I knew the fix was in already. It's a waste of time attending public hearings when you know you are speaking to a council who is going to what they want regardless of how you feel. November 2012 is approaching and we will make our voices heard then.

This is hardly surprising -- the silent majority is completely against this ridiculous purchase of land for $10,000 per acre to bail out a developer who paid much less than than at the height of the real estate boom.

If it happens, we'll have some new members of the Council aftrer the next election -- McCain, Cannon, Macloud and maybe Hughes -- will be history

Another poorly advertised meeting -- packed by those who want the County to waste money so they have a park nearer than the many others that already exist.

This absurdity will be helpful in keeping our tax revenue cap -- to starve the beast in the Government Office Building.

Nice to see Mr. Baker doing something for that big County salary!

It's just not popular to speak out against this type of thing. I'm sure the vast majority are opposed to it but would never publicly speak out. How about putting it on a ballot and letting the people vote on it and then you would get a much better feel for what the people really want.

Great idea. Oh, but we have to spend that money before the state takes it away. We can't wait that long.

Unfortunately it is true that oppose something usually make alot more noise than those that favor it. I think the vast majority would favor the park if they knew the facts.

This park is a no brainer - this is money that we have been forced to save up through transfer taxes, and we will lose our savings if we don't buy this land. I don't want our money to be used to fund some park or other project in Prince Georges County or in Baltimore.

OK, so let's pay twice what it's worth, right!

Share the wealth!

Then I suggest the "24" people in favor of it pay for it out of their own pockets. Those 24 people don't represent me and my elected officials better damn sure not vote for it. I will spend every nickel I have on candidates to unseat the current sitting clowns.

OK.. put everything on a ballot... then what would roll off the council be. Its the people that need to tell their council people how they feel. If every decision were put to a ballot then their would be no council would there. No politicians... no government. Sounds good... right? but then we have...

who probably didnt attend the meeting to voice their opinion and vote against it. You have to attend the meeting and oppose it not type on a blog you are are against it. 10:46 you sure do have a vote to unseat the clowns... but you need to attend public hearings if you are so addement abount a certain situation that is being voted on by the council.
OK... point is ... get off your butts and do something instead of asking someone else to do it for you!! This blog can not cast a vote or purswead a polition like you can in person. Get off your butts and go to the meetings!!
(ok.. I know my spelling may be bad... )
