Adoption Updates

"Hi Joe,

Here are 2 photos of Kentucky dogs who went home. Whiskey Jack, Mint Julep are home, Sea Biscuit goes home on Tuesday and we have applications on Lexington and Louisville Slugger. Look how pretty Fiddle turned out! Her fur is very soft and came in beautifully. Banjo looks just as good. Have a good weekend. We have had a terrific day...

Story#2:

"Hey Joe,

Wanted to let you know that Thom of Ace Printing just came in and adopted the min-pin we had on the lost/found on your site! He wanted me to make sure to let you know. The min-pin went up for adoption today and now has a new forever home. Things are going great today... sending home 7 dogs and have applications on others! Now we just have to get some of our wonderful cats moving.

Linda"

Thom, you're a great guy! We can't than ALL of you enough. Linda, what can I say but thank you. I am just having a GREAT weekend thanks to all of you.

Joe:

I have read about the dogs on your blog, and my husband and I went this week to visit the dogs there. The staff at the Wicomico shelter are wonderful. Unfortunately, none of those dogs quite fit our family.

We took a ride up to Georgetown, DE. We found our dog there - a lovely, 4 year old Border Collie mix. We brought her home the same day, and it's like she was always a part of our family.

Please - remind your readers that while the Wicomico shelter is wonderful and the staff is great, they are not the only one in the area. The shelter in Georgetown has dogs that have been there since DECEMBER 2008, had at least two dozen dogs, and were literally overflowing with cats. They had puppies, adults dogs, small, big, mixes, a few purebreeds - LOTS of animals.

Their staff was also really helpful and friendly. In fact, the dog we adopted was not even one I asked to see, but a staff member suggested she would fit in with our kids and lifestyle, and asked us to take a chance and take her for a walk. She knew the dogs so well that she picked the prefect one for us - it is really a gift for those animals to have someone like that advocating for them.

Please - keep adopting from Wicomico, but if you don't find your dog or cat there, please take the drive to Delaware and take a look. There are a lot of animals who need you there, too.

Thank you.
