This photo was taken just seconds ago by a loyal reader.
It's just a shame ALL Firefighters can't see this Post any more. LOL

I saw the truck the other day, it is big, but I am glad we have it. Sorry it cost so much, I'm glad they are driving it around getting used to it. It is a bit big for city streets here, but what fire truck isn't. Go get em boys.

2:06 your proof the SFD can still get on line, while your working. Come on "boys", you may need some practice/traing to operate the tower, but to drive it, if you need practice there, you best park it! The real waste is just starting, to run on the kind and number of calls they will is where the cost continues, and gets just as foolish. Just the Facts

Joe I also spotted it yesterday driving downtown. It seems there are venturing far from Station 16. Glad you enjoyed the photo!

The truck was trying to turn in front of my house yesterday onto Camden. It was so big that it actually had to back up and make other cars move to get around the corner. It must have taken 3 minutes!

Well i know salisbury needed a new ladder truck no dought about that. But dont you think we could have found something a little more reasonably priced? Dont say no because all you have to do is look at the internet look at all the trucks for sale.

There are smaller and more reasonably priced trucks than this!!!
What a waste of city taxpapers funds.
However, they had to buy something big to try and help fill up the new
Station 16. Again, a station that big was totally not needed. Conserative is not a way of life for SFD or Barrie for approving such
outragous spending.

I had to click on the larger image. There is a mini fan in the cab??? This truck does not have AC???

Anon. 6:24, you will find that most big trucks with large windshields have auxiliary fans to assist with defrosting/defogging.

Anonymous said...

Thank you 6:41...I was not aware of that.

Joe, for your SFD readers... if they cannot access this website at work simply go to kproxy.com and type in SBYNEWS.com and it's like magic!

JOE... BODY FOUND FLOATING IN THE PORT OF WILMINGTON DELAWARE.

6:41 those window mount fans were not used for defrosting or defogging. They were put in trucks that had no a/c. Any trucker worth his/her salt knows to increase the efficiency of your defroster you pull your visors down to keep the warm air on the glass. Big trucks with big windshields don't use those outdated fans any more. Show me one in town that doesn't have a/c and has those dust collectors.

7:22 PM

They have most if not all proxy servers blocked. Many places have done that already.

i have seen this truck 3 or 4 times this past week , once filling it up with fuel for the joy ride..they sure dont seem to test drive the other trucks that much!! being there is so much money for fuel to joy ride i wouldnt mind having my truck filled up on them.

This truck is only meant to go on large structure fires or rescues, like at the hospital or SSU. The SFD has 2 new Quints on order, to arrive soon. They are ladder trucks that can also operate like an engine, similiar to Truck 2.

for all u people that dont understand why they are test driving the new tower 16 so much lets think about it for a few seconds. When you get a new vehicle it takes you a while to get used to driving it and sort. its the same for a fire truck plus its not just one driver that has to get used to it. all of the engineers have to get used to it on every shift so it takes some time. you dont want to drive a piece of fire equipment for the first time in emergency mode its not a good idea. so quit complaining about all the driving that is being done in the new tower 16.

All those guys have to get enough training to pass a test to drive that baby. Expect to see it a lot. Now that we have it , it's of no use if the brothers can't drive it!

Don't blame the firemen, they would have prefered better pay over a lot of the material stuff.

Besides learning how to drive it there are a lot of things on that truck that all the firefighters need to be trained on if you expect them to ever get use out of it. If it saves your life you will think it's the best investment ever made.

Ask to take a ride with them, see just what's it's like if you think they have it easy. I didn't know they worked 24 hour shifts with a few power naps in between!

That means hubby and daddy don't get to come home to a warm loving home that day.

1:11 AM

"brothers?" What kind of crap is that? Is every one related?

Anonymous said...

Joe, it tickles me how the ignorant FARMIN get on here and pretend they aren't from the fire department to justify wasteful spending with damage control.

Check out the comments from Anon 1:11am.

He claims that "Now that 'we' have it" they need to learn how to drive it and then he refers to them as his "brothers."

Then later on he tries to explain there are a lot of things on the truck that the FARMIN need to be trained on as well.

Then he goes on to say "I didn't know they worked 24 hour shifts."

What happened to the "we" that turned into "they?" This shows how ignorant many of the firefighters in this city are. Look at the time as well, 1:11am. Hmmm, my guess this individual is at work at the fire department and blogging on city time. Get a grip morons, you give public safety a bad name.

You idiots should be careful what you wish for. In one breath you complain that its too big for the city streets, in the other that its too expensive. Well,if they purchased a truck designed for tight spaces (a tiller truck like Kramer drove on Seinfeld) that truck would cost about twice as much. And about them all learning to drive it, did your manager at McDonald's let you all jump right in and start making the fries? I bet you had to practice a few times first.

The brother comment was refering to a "Brotherhood" among firefighters. If you conceive everything as racist, you must be one!

Maybe thinking before you post would help?

YEAH, because Lord knows how many of the other "brothers" are in the SFD. Right guys?
