Numbers don't lie. The General Assembly recently issued data that shows that Wicomico County is one of the biggest hogs at the trough in Annapolis. Here's a summary of the table for “State Aid to Local Government” (for 2010 – the proposed budget for the next fiscal year).

Per Capita: $1,879 – highest (Baltimore City)

$1,579 – Wicomico County (4^th )

$1,160 – statewide average

$587 – lowest (Talbot County)

Growth (2009/10): 7.7% – highest (Montgomery Co.)

6.7% – Wicomico County (2^nd )

1.0% – statewide average

-1.2% – lowest (Prince George's County)
