Community Activist Stephanie K. Burke (Wymzie) Enters Race for Pocomoke City Council

Friday February 6th at 4:43 PM minutes before the filing deadline, Stephanie K. Burke entered the race to actually represent the people of PocomokeCity as Councilman for District Four creating an election next April. Stephanie has pledged to give the City back to the people by making changes to the City Charter to insure the past abuses of power at City Hall come to a dead stop.

Stephanie said “I promise to bring real change to the Pocomoke Government first by enforcing the charter which the current administration refuses to do, then to change the charter to insure there cannot be the flagrant abuses of power we see today” she continued with “the first step is to remove the city manager from office, it’s a political appointment that people normally serve 3 to 7 years and 33-years is simply too long for any one man to be in power, with zero accountability to the people."

An issue important to the citizens of Pocomoke that needs to be immediately addressed is the City government does not require any disclosure of any city employee ownership in any company doing business with the city. It has long been rumored that City Manager Russ Blake has been a share holder of companies awarded large contracts from the city, but there has been no way to know since disclosure is not required.

Pocomoke city has never required disclosure from employees or elected officials who have purchased city owned real estate in private back room deals over the years. City Councilmen and employees have personally profited from poorly advertised to back room real estate transactions from the city in the past. She said “This has got to change the people have a right to know if city employees or officials are profiteering.”

The list of problems in Pocomoke City is too long to list here; as is the platform she was put forward so we will not take up the entire front page to publish it here.

Another idiot joining the crowd. She brings nothing productive to this blog or the area. Fortunately, most people hate her.

Because we are so tight; I am throwing my hat into the ring to be your campaign manager. I am willing to share my political anthologies of "Who Am I? Why am I here? {no...seriously guys..where am I???}" by James Stockdale and "Portrait in a Tank-My Own Political Seppuku" by Michael Dukakis. Surely these books will get you started down the right path {and if they don't I promise to at least stop calling you Shirley...}

I think I already have the David Frost interviews scheduled. He is prepared to spend at least the entire first day talking about those fascinating bees {"Bee-Gate", if you will; humor him if he dances..he still thinks the piece involves the BEE Gees}. And if we are taking over the zoo-I get first dibs on playing "Lead Otter" when we inevitably take the gig to {off...way off...oh, man this is so off we are in Secaucus} Broadway.
