Wicomico Humane Society Saves Chihuahua's Life

As many of you know, last weeks temperatures were quite cold outside, certainly too cold to leave a small dog outside like a Chihuahua. On Friday, one of the Staff was outside in front of the building when they noticed a crate sitting right smack dab in the middle of the road in front of the Humane Society.

They went out to the crate and inside was a very this, very shaky and very messy Chihuahua covered in urine and fecal matter. They immediately took it inside and went to work on it doing everything they could to save the life of this animal. Fortunately, after lots of cleaning and a warm place to rest this dog is coming around and it looks like it will make it after all.

Now I'm sure the thoughts are running through your mind, it could have been hit by a car. It could have died out there, why didn't they just take it in. How long was it out there. Who would do such a thing.

I asked those questions and just when you think some sick individual was capable of doing such a thing, Linda Lugo said to me, you know Joe, someone could have stolen the animal because they saw it outside some one's home in the cold and obviously not being taken care of. They may have dropped it off out there figuring someone would come along soon enough and take it in. If someone had stolen the animal and brought it in, they could be up on charges.

I hadn't thought of that but it could very well be true. Linda went on to tell me how thin this dog was and she'd love to meet the original owners face to face and challenge them as to why they were incapable of taking good care of such a small animal.

Well Linda, I'd like to meet these owners face to face too but I can assure you, I wouldn't be so kind. I guess that's why you're in that position and I'm on this Blog. Anyhow Folks, there could be a very nice Chihuahua available for adoption in the near future.

Linda also wanted everyone to know that this animal has been isolated in a very warm and quiet area of the H.S. with the intent of keeping it as calm as possible for the next few days. She went on to say, "By the grace of God she was given to us."

Hi Joe, there is a Daily Times classified today that reports a missing chihuahua that could have been stolen....possibly the same? Phone numbers are listed for contact information.

It always amazes me the cruelty some people can bestoe on other "living creatures". It deeply saddens me when ever anyone does these sorts of things b\c the animals cannot defend themselves, especially a tiny one like this.

Its times like this when I wish the hand of God could come down on people who do these things and at least give them a good wake up call slap in the face (or two).

God created us to live (with) the animals he created (for us)! But I strongly believe in Karma (even when animals are involved) and I believe whomever did this, will one day get a wake up call.

TY Joe for adding the human interest stories b/c they are my favs!

What a terrible thing to do. It was no doubt wrong. However, maybe whoever it was that dumped that poor dog didn't want to deal with the people in the Humane Society.

Its just a dog ! Come on people ! What about our country. You have just elected the biggest snake to the office of president , and your worried about a dog ?

And this is exactly why we are in the situation we are in ! A novice in control of our government. Dont be worried about that dog because you may find yourself eating that very animal!

After all they do eat dog in socialistic countries, in case you didnt know !.
