Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On January 28, 2009 at approximately 10:31 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of Florida Avenue and Smith St. and stopped a vehicle operated by the below listed suspect for a traffic violation. Due to the actions of the suspect during the stop, a K-9 scan was requested of the vehicle. A K-9 from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded and made a positive indication on the vehicle for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. The vehicle was checked and paraphernalia containing suspected cocaine was located.

ARRESTED: Lewis Kimble, III, 34 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

On January 28, 2009 at approximately 7:28 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to respond to a field on the five hundred (500) block of Delaware Avenue for the report of an unresponsive male subject. Upon arrival the officers met with witnesses and observed a male subject that had suffered an apparent gunshot to the head area. The victim was identified as 31 year old Lamont Cornelious Mitchell, of Salisbury and was pronounced dead at the scene. Seems like not a day go by without some kind of crime being committed.

At least we can shoot for that # 1 crime city in the country spot. I would smile but this is to "real".

Is there any chance the SPD will eventually see a canine unit for their department? Instead of having to wait for a Sheriff's Department canine unit to show up, that is???

A so called Blood? Afraid to go to prison? Something doesn't smell right. Prison is their right of passage.

I think someone may know different but is afraid to speak up in fear of retaliation.

Who kills themselves out side in a busy intersection like that one where Delaware/Isabella/West all come together? How many black men have you heard of pulling the trigger on themselves? I don't believe for one minute Lamont Mitchell killed himself. This whole Brookes Harmon murder stinks to high heaven.

1. Shayla called Brookes to her house. She has a phone, obviously. More than likely a cell or a cordless, regardless she has a phone, this everyone knows.

2. These guys show up minutes after Brookes gets there. CHECK HER PHONE.

3. She says they force their way in. Was it forcible entry or did they push past her? Big difference here, ya know.

4. They tell her and her friend to go in the other room? WTF???

5. She had a phone to call Brookes over there, where was her phone when she was sent to another room? Why didn't she call 911?

6. Shes as skinny as a rail, she could have gone out a window to get help if she wanted to. Isn't there a back door in that house?

7. A gunshot to the head could be done by anyone at close range, leaving powder residue.

8. Powder residue, if any, on his hand could have been staged. The killer could have put the gun in his hand and fired a round after committing this gangland style murder.

9. Suicide? I don't think so.

10. Now for the big question. Did they pick up his side kick? Is Shayla a suspect? If not, she certainly should be.

11:18 has watched too much CSI. Maybe Lamont's 401K lost a boatload of money, who knows? You other thugs take note of Lamont's gutsy move. Anyone else got the stones to try it too? I look forward to more of these press releases.

Maybe the police around here don't watch enough CSI? Maybe the higher ups at SPD are satisfied with calling it a suicide so it doesn't affect their stats of crime being down? Maybe the Chief of Police is just to damned lazy or stupid to investigate a murder and achieve timely results? Maybe 11:18 is on to something? Maybe 11:18 lives over here and knows more than you do?

They may have found gunpowder residue on his hand that caused them to come to the suicide conclusion.

If he was murdered and the shooter made him cover his eyes with his hands, he would also have gunpowder residue on his hands.
