Comments On Obama Inauguration Dress Code

I believe the following comments should shock everyone. I personally believe the BOE Teachers are wackos striving to push their agenda and some of these these comments should prove of such. This topic will go away soon enough but in the mean time Parents should be EDUCATED themselves on who their children are being guided by, as well as Preachers. We don't have to agree but there's never been a place in the past in which so many can learn how things are being run and express their thoughts and opinions. The BOE has had their own agenda, even to a point that they'll cut off anyone who disagrees with them. To me, they're a Cult. Just my personal opinion.

"Deacon James Bailey said....

I am from Talbot County and often preach on the shore. I forgive the remarks of the non-believers. As Dr. Martin Luther King said we must pray for the recovery of some of our sick white brothers and sisters.Dr. King in his most famous speech said we will climb the mountain even though he might not reach the top with us. Praise the Lord for we have reached the mountain top with President Obama.Look out on the horizon and see the n as my brothers and sisters rejoice with meew opportunities that await all black Americans. On Sunday morning we must sing the old song that says we are free at last. Our hearts swell as my brothers and sisters rejoice for we have reached a new and higher plateau. We can never be complacent but must push on and on until all colors run together and all races are viewed as equals.Thank you Mr. Albero for allowing people of color to express themselves on your non-prejudice blog."

"HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! Jesus help us all. or should I say Obama help us all???? I'm confused who "THE" ANNOINTED ONE is. Does that mean we all start giving gifts to each other on Mr. Obama's birthday? That is , once we find out when that really is. RP"

"Every child in my 5 th grade classroom will wear a red, white & blue decorative ribbon arrangement to respect this historical inauguration. They will respect the democratic process and respect our first black president. The office of president like other positions of power must be respected. My students respect me as a teacher of the Africo American race. It is the parents that hold prejudice ideas when their children are innocent.Thank you."

"Wicomico County Teacher said.....

Any parent who does not allow their child to obey the teacher is being non-cooperative. If I, as a teacher ,tell a child to wear red ,white and blue colors and he or she doesn't, then this will reflect in their grade for the day.I will provide the 3-colored ribbons. Parents do not dictate to the schools. We know what is best for all children.Parents need to be positive and stop acting like children. Parents should be the adults. Hope this clears everything up. Any questions, please make an appointment with the Director of Elementary Education, Mrs. Margo Handy."

"I am a high school senior and I find this rediculous. We waste taxpayers money for kids like me to go to school, and for what, watch the inauguration during precious and valuable time to do class work? What the heck? I'm ashamed to see this happen."

"Pittsville Mom said...

On the Willards calendar it says "Inauguration Day Activities Dress in Red,White, and Blue!" I think just dressing in the colors would be okay, but Im not comfortable with these "activities" He is a man.He will be or president and I respect that, however, that is all he is. People are making over him like he is a GOD! They didn't do this before, but oh no....we must bow to the King...e-q-u-a-l "

"Willards Dad said...

They are quick to let you know you can't speak of God in school, but its okay to talk about the government."

The promotion of this strongly encouraged viewing of the inauguration and the dress issue came down from the Director of Elementary Education, Mrs. Margo Handy, who is black at a meeting with the Vice Principals in Wicomico County.Lesson plans had to be turned into the principals as to what each teacher would be teaching .The teachers are to have all students view the inauguration ceremony as a directive for the day's history lesson.People from the BOE will be coming into the schools to see what is being taught that day (this rarely happens otherwise). This whole issue is being very strongly encouraged from the Board Central Office by the black supervisors, specialists and Mrs. Handy.Concerned and interested parents need to form an association with an aggressive attorney to protect the children's rights. I find it interesting that the neighbors of the Salisbury Mall took legal action to direct the development of the mall and how it would impact the neighborhood yet the children's welfare is not as important.Parents are often intimidated by school authorities and afraid any action they take will be taken out on their child. I believe the courts and society now will be more favorable to stand behind the parents for the children's welfare.Times have changed. It is also recognized that the schools do not have the best interest of the individual child at heart. Mass scheduling and profiling prevails. A parent with enough exerted pressure and clout can have their child's class schedule changed after they sign a set of documents that relieves the school of responsibility for the student's academic success. This meeting with the principal is also surrounded with an air of intimidation. That crap did not influence our family visit to Bennett Middle. We stood our ground and have the money to have our attorney entertain any unsettled issue.Fight for what is best for your child. As the late superintendent, Royd A Mahaffey, stated,"Your child is your most precious possession."

Thanks Joe, I'm leaving this minute to go discuss this with my child's principal. Enough is enough!

Joe, when is the next BOE meeting? Don't they allow public comments?

If it is about history why not do this, watch the inauguration then have some type of jeopardy style game to acknowledge all past presidents as well along with the government process and departments? This would signify an attempt to educate children about ALL presidents, the history of the United States, and the electoral process. It would remove race as an issue, would not single out children for ridicule because they didn't dress up, and would educate the children! If my children's teachers asked that my children wear a red white and blue ribbon that day I would not have an issue with that, but don't dare tell me my children must dress up that day. They will stay home before I make them dress up, after all in my childrens dress code set by the school it clearly states please be sure your child dresses comfortably for the school day, play clothes are acceptable and encouraged!!! Look at the policies section of the BOE guides it should give everyone fire power to say NO SIR, all you have to do is look!

joe albero said...

Good points. Here's another one for you. Doed the BOE have a "DRESS CODE" daily for the Teachers? NO! Do as I say, not as I do. I wonder, if Laura Bush were still teaching, would she be wearing red, white and blue that day to bring in the new President? This is what I mean by, noit everyone voted for Obama. If they didn't do it for her Father in Law and then her Husband, why Obama? It was historical days when they were elected too.

Joe, I bet they are serving Kool-Aid at lunch. This has gotten out of control. I don't think I have red, white , & blue outfits for my kids so does this mean I am required to buy new clothes just for this event?

Anonymous said...

as a former MARINE, i am proud to display my colors.but the color of skin, should not be a reason to wear them ...our tax dollars going to waste again.what did it cost our school system to hold those meetings?????????? as an AMERICAN, i will continue to support our demrocacy, but i refuse to help racist liberals push their agenda on the people of non-color

"If I, as a teacher ,tell a child to wear red ,white and blue colors and he or she doesn't, then this will reflect in their grade for the day. Parents do not dictate to the schools. We know what is best for all children."

So, you are saying that if my children do not have red, white and blue clothes and I can NOT afford, as a single parent, to go buy new clothes they are going to get a bad grades? If this is the case why aren't bad grades given to the kids walking around with the pants below their rear end? What a hypocryte...The PARENTS know what is best for their individual children. I bet she doesn't know 1/4 of the children in the school. I am very patriotic and served in the US Army but I don't believe you can legally force a kid or a parent to do this, this is a FREE COUNTRY (or supposed to be).

to the unnamed Wc teacher.

What a pompous *censored* you are. How dare you tell any parent that the schools know what's better for the child then the parents do. You say it will reflect their grade, and that is your choice you made, yet if anyone has questios about it to contact Mrs Margo. IF YOU are going to take such action, the questios and comments should be directed at you. Let me guess you are the teacher at the beginning of the year that begs for supplies right? Now since its something you apparently support you will go out and buy the ribbons for this. Might I remind you its the PARENTS taxes that pay your salary so yes we can dictate somewhat. You need to find another job you are in no way shape or form teacher material. You are one of the reasons my child was taken out of the county schools in 2nd grade.

anonymous 9:27,

Here's another thought too. Who's raising your children? YOU, or the BOE?

Sounds to me like they are in more control than the parents are. You'll respect our new President or you'll be punished.

Yep, I made the right decision to not send my kids to Wicomico County schools. What a bunch of liberal crap. Someone needs to send this mess to O'Reilly.

But when the kid is bad in school, the teacher is quick to blame it on bad parenting!

I talked with my sons girls
yesterday and they said they haven't heard a thing about it.

Anonymous said...

Barry G... exactly! My son was being beat on, not bullied but literally BEAT at least once a week, after many attempts to have it resolved in a nice manner I gave into my no nonsense mode and told the assistant principal like it was without holding anything back. he jumped up and got in my face! He then stated "No wonder you are here every week with a mother like you it's apparent why he gets mad!" I was furious, I said "well with an (explative inserted here)supposedly running the school no wonder kids have nothing better to do than pick at someone for not being from here." I went on to tell my son, with the principal and ass. principal present, the next time someone lays a hand on you beat the crap out of them". My son has been working out with me since he was 8 years old, he can hold his own, but he didn't want to cause problems in the school so he never fought back until that day. It wasn't even a month later and I got a phone call from the sheriff's office saying my son had been arrested!! I went to pick him up and asked to officer what happened, come to find out one of the children that had been hitting on my son, decided to hit him yet again and my son beat the boy until he bled. He was nice enough to stop when he saw blood, he said he figured he got his point across once the kids nose was busted. I give my son credit because if I had been picked at for 3 years I surely wouldn't have stopped beating the kid until someone pryed me away! I thought it was pretty ironic that in three years nothing was done about the abuse, but as soon as my son defends himself he is locked up!! That's the public school system for you!

When my father was a student at St. Peter and Paul's 50 years ago, there was only one administrator. She was the principal, she was a nun, but she was also a teacher. These days the faculty outnumber the teachers. What a waste of money and time.

To Mrs. Margo Handy,
I am a parent of a child who attends Wicomico County Public Schools. As a professional in the educational field as well, I find it highly disturbing that you would say "we know what is best for the children". I'm confused. The main goal as an educator is to push our children to succeed, and form community relations with the parents and families of our students. Yes, history will be made in the U.S. on Inauguration Day. As an educator I see the importance of a lesson on how history is created, and on our election process. I do not see the need for a red, white and blue so called "dress codes", or the need for grades to be based on this alone. Will your classroom requirements be the same the next election if Obama doesn't win? It will still be an historical event, the election of a new president. Our own personal opinions do not belong in the classroom. We are here to lead, guide and educate. Not force our beliefs onto children with impressionable minds.
I hope you reflect on this before grading.

I am glad that this nonsense issue is #1 among conservative and racist bloggers.

I basically means that conservatives have little or nothing to contribute to the national conversation.

"Safe to ignore" sounds really good to me.

haven't you found out yet this was setup and "you" have been had...

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:24 AM if you think we should honor Obama because he is black then YOU are the racist. The problem is they never have gone to this extreme for an inauguration. WCBOE have the biggest black racists against whitey I have ever seen. I once had a black teacher say that she was going to give me a detention so I could be her slave.

Anonymous said...

11:43, I really don't care if you or your kids honor Obama or not. I receive sufficient satisfaction knowing that he is going to be President.

I do find that you care so much about this issue mildy amusing, especially considering all of the more serious matters we have on our collective "plate".

This issue also highlights that you don't have a clue about patriotism. I can almost see you people spitting on the American flag (and teaching your kids to do so too).

Anonymous said...

Spit on the flag?! Are all the Obama voters mentally defective? 1157 have you ever served this country? I have jackass, so don't make a statement that people that think this is BS would spit on the flag or are anti american. I would wager 1000 dollars right now that my kid knows more about our government and how it works than you and probably 99% of the O voters as well. Why is it that YOU PEOPLE can't see this for the double standard that is? Look, I think it's great that so many Americans have gotten past color and O has been elected, heck, I almost voted for him until I really looked into the guy, but the issue here is that WCBOE is filled with rascists. They are giving special attention to "their guy" when they have NEVER done anything like this before. That is just what really irks me. It's no wonder that so many, like me, are choosing private schools for our children. Don't any of you O voters see that this is how Nazi Germany got started? I can see Margo Handy herself as being responsible for the indoctrination of the Hitler/Obama youth.

Anonymous said...

Not everyone can afford private school sir, two societys alive here, two societys. As far as the public schools blame affirmative action for the personnel in higher positions.

Doug I guess blocking the all caps thing didn't make it but I would have to agree with you that it is annoying. This is not a race thing as without white America Obama would have never got elected. the question here if Obama lost would that have done the same for McCain? We know the answer.

Anonymous said...

tedh -

You are asking nothing but "what if's" and they are pointless!

What if McBush won the lotto 1 month before becoming the candidate... LOL. It's pointless to ask what if.

In this terrible economic times, I hope something is done differently (and all the kids watch) cause we need a strong rebuild.

And we can't pretend "what if" Obama was white. This is history and he is your president! Got a problem? Move to Mexico!

tedh said...

I love taco's! I don't have a problem with Obama as president as he got elected by the majority. I just don't like bias hype. That is what the problem is. We live with bias MSM and now we are having it shoved down our throats by the BOE requiring (strongly suggesting) a certain attire for the day. I don't have a problem watching it for history but it should be the same for any president not just BHO.

Anonymous said...

Hey Joe, here is another point I find interesting. I have learned that schools are spending alot of money for the Inauguration. Large flat screen TV's are being purchased, cable is getting put in classrooms. How is that they can afford to do this, when they cannot afford to purchase new classroom books, proper equipment for teachers, etc... Further more I have also learned today that the BOE are telling parents that it is the schools decsion to make such arrangements for the inaughuration.

Anonymous said...

Our High School just told the students they will shorten each class 5 or ten minutes so they cn watch this during 5th period. They did not do this 8 years ago when Bush was elected. Thank God my son has a Track Meet and won't be present anyway!

Topper said...

would they consider a t-shirt with a confederate flag appropriate? I mean after all it is red white and blue and even has stars. If I were still in school that is what I would wear just to piss them off

My son won't be in School on the 20th and I will send a note as to why when he returns. I'm all for Obamas chance as president but this craps over the top.

I would urge EVERYONE to keep they're kids home as I am.

My children attend Buckingham Elementary School and I recieved the letter. At first I was angered and was going to keep them home. Then I thought about all the times I have been on field trips and in class I know most my kids classmates on a first name basis. One thing I have found is that at that age they are all precious, loveing and caring. They just want to be loved. I have seen the children from broken homes who want me to be their dad for the day because they have none. They are not racist yet (both black and white) they aren't little thugs or rednecks they are just kids. I think all of this is about adults and thier beliefs. I don't think my kids will be affected either way, We teach our kids at home whats wrong and right the schools are for reading , writing and arithmetic. Be involve with your children and situations like this are nothing. We all know what this is about and were it comes from but don't inject into the minds of our children, to them is just an assembly to get out of class. A large majority of the kids at Buckingham come from goverment housing, homes with no dad, whore moms, drug situations, places that most really can't relate to and they have no choice. If watching Americas first biracial president get swore in makes an impression on them that they can do better in America than what they come from then lets hope so. If you have to break it down to race then either cheer for the white half or the black half.

Why don't we hear more about Obama's white heritage.

Anonymous said...

My principal did not require us to turn in lesson plans at my elementary school in Wicomico County.

Not sure where that crap came from. We just have to incorporate the inauguration into our daily teaching.

Maybe someone needs to put in for a transfer to my school. You have until March 1st!

Friends and neighbors, please lend an attentive ear. The prime parts of the inauguration will be televised over and over for the whole week. If your children don't watch it in school, they will at home. All of us are curious and will view segments and wish President Obama well in his leadership role. Forget the color of the man's skin. Show no prejudice toward me and my black brothers and sisters. Our children need to attend school together, learn together, play together and many will probably marry another race. It is what is in the person's heart that counts and not his or her looks. We all can't be movie stars. My husband is white but in our daily lives, I don't even notice. Let the black Americans enjoy their day with the first black to hold this office. Many of you elected him. The percentage of whites is greater than our race.So to be blunt, stop all talk of race and let the schools make this a proud day for all children. Dress-up and wear patriotic colors. Support Mrs. Margo Handy and the teachers in this endeavor.Thank you. PS- For the rednecks and racists go dry up and hide until after January 20 th and take a few lessons from the majority of American citizens.God bless you too.

I have read this blog as well as others and the newspaper but never have I heard anything from the superintendent of schools.Has one been appointed? If so, a statement from the superintendent would clear up all these misunderstandings. As they would say back home in Kentucky, COME OUT SUPERINTENDENT whereever you are! This is no time for the people in leadership positions to hide in the closet and avoid unpleasant situations. Am I right Joe?
Even an interview with Mrs. Margo Handy on TV would settle many people down and make the next few days pleasant.

"As a school administrator in this county....HORRAY for YOU! Well said...."

A school administrator should be able to spell "hooray". Maybe that's the reason why the kids in this county cant seem to pass their graduation requirement exams.

We know what is best for all children.- Mrs. Margo Handy

this comment leaves me speechless... Almost. I must say, how arrogant. I guess we should allow you to take them completely 24/7 from age 6-18 and allow you to remove us from the equation since we don't have the capacity to care for or raise or kids properly. My daughter will be 5 in August, and will be entering Kindergarten. the private schools are looking more and more desirable.

Speaking for the system, most teachers will have their students view the oath- taking segment on TV. Monies have been spent to provide new TV's and cable where none existed before.Watching the inauguration is viewing live history and no interested parent would want to deny their child this opportunity, This is a special occasion and common sense and home-training encourages everyone to dress-up and wear something patriotic even if it is a tri-twisted red, white and blue set of ribbons which many schools will provide. We are proud that a black American has showed leadership and has the faith of the majority of the American people to be elected. Whether you voted for Mr. Obama or not is of no consequence. We now bury the hatchet and all come together as one big happy cooperative family and lend our support to his success. The schools do what is best for all children and have had training and a lot of successful experience. It is unfortunate that some parents think they are experts just because they once attended school. Don't forget, you did this as a child and not as an adult. I hope this explains the matter but the offices of the principals and central office are always open to discuss with you any of your concerns. Thank you and enjoy watching the inauguration.

I am not real big on my children watching live televised events. What if something went wrong, what if some maniac tries something stupid on live tv as thousands of children are sitting in front of the tv with minimal adults to comfort them? I am not saying anything will happen, but I recall watching the space shuttle blow up and that is pretty deep for kids to see. Is there going to be a delay like there is with the superbowl after Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction", or is this going to be real time? Of course security is going to be extremely tight and all but I don't know that I am comfortable with my children sitting with a bunch of other children watching live coverage.
