It seems that Daily Times reporter Greg Latshaw harbors a repressed desire to be a novelist. Gore Vidal, with his gift for mixing a little historical fact with a lot of fiction, seems to be a key role model. How else could explain Sunday's little "Year in Review" piece about the Wicomico County Council?
Not content with his usual mix of biased, selective reporting and "he said, she said" journalism, Latshaw weaves a tale that bears no semblance to the reality that was Wicomico County in 2008. The tall tales begin with his lead:
Not content with his usual mix of biased, selective reporting and "he said, she said" journalism, Latshaw weaves a tale that bears no semblance to the reality that was Wicomico County in 2008. The tall tales begin with his lead:
In a year that began with a flap over pricey pens, Wicomico County Council members agreed to a landmark development agreement, struck down a police labor code law and thoroughly investigated the area's liquor wholesaler. (emphasis mine)The flap wasn't over pricey pens, but about the proper use of the taxpayers' money; along with the arrogance of some who actually claimed that the money wasn't the taxpayers'. The County Council did not strike down a police labor code law. They ENACTED a labor code for the Sheriff's office. County Executive Rick Pollitt vetoed the bill and his veto was overridden. As for the dispensary, there wasn't much of an investigation given that the board members refused to come and answer questions. Documents were only supplied after they were threatened with court action. Read More ...

OUCH!
You keep those clowns at the Disgrace straight G. A. Hope you had a good holiday and will keep posting your insightful messages.
Great job G.A. You said what should have been written but few have the courage to do so. Thanks for speaking the truth.
What's McCain's dog in this fight?
McCain's dog seems to be keeping the Democrat party happy. This means kowtowing to the enviros (while keeping his developer pals happy by not downzoning inside the Metro Core). This means carrying water for Rick Pollitt, who won't publicly take a stand until the very last minute.
I watched PAC 14 the other night and there was someone from Talbot County who said he was an appraiser and not being paid to speak. He blew McCain's theory all to pieces that downzoning doesn't negatively affect equity. From the article in the paper, it appears McCain nows wants to change the meaning of downzoning. Can't have it both ways, Bill.
Mr. McCain is washed up as a respected appraiser after his shinanigans with the zoning issue. But that is fine, he made the decision to carry the ball for the democrats and crazies so he can deal with it
Has anyone heard what Cannon's stand is on the "down zoning" or now it can be know as the land grab?
The dispensary issue is not dead...you heard it here first.
And no pens nor any other type of gift for public service were given out this year.
12:36pm ----MCCain's "dog in this fight" is he owns land in the Metro Core.By trying to get the farmland downzoned (outside the metro core) it gives the land in the Metro Core added value and increased the price.
By the way, Cannon also owns lots of land inside the Metro Core. Wonder where he stands on this issue, too?
The only issue I can remember that Latshaw guy ever reporting on in a "fair and balanced way" was the city's always-late audit and the missing 10 million dollars.
If I recall correctly, he was transferred to the county beat shortly after. (Something happens to every single reporter who starts to "get it" on the city beat.)
Maybe it isn't a conspiracy, but it sure does a great imitation of one!
Looks like McCain and Cannon have a big conflict of interest on the downzoning land grab -- wonder if the Daily Slime will touch it?
I doubt the times will touch it. They haven't been forthcoming on the land grab at all.
Hacksaw is just barry's personal C.A.V.E. boy, his damn knuckles still drag the ground. Oh pool boy, mommy needs another Cosmo baby.
It wasn't the Daily grunt and crap bought attention to the hookers on RT 13, it was this blog.
Further, as I recall about a year or more ago Joe suggested putting the "Johns" names in the paper. Because Albero suggested it, it's ignored long enough to try and make people really believe the Salisbury police and the daily Crapper put the pressure on them.
Do they have any clue on who killed that hooker yet? I guess just a cold case already.
What did he say about the PAC-14 scam on the public?
Watch the liquor stores to ask the county for a bailout because of the economy. Laughing all the way to the bank. Ahh it's been a bad year we really aren't going to to be able to come up with projected revenues due to unforseen circumstances.
Just like there reason the audit is late again will be because they installed new updated software. Bla Bla Bla
How much did that last independent audit cost and what was the conclusion again? Failing to produce timely financial information? hmmm
I don't think the taxpayers need to pay another independent auditor to understand exactly where the problem is, and the problem needs the pink slip.
There are a lot of problems in government that need pink slips. It seems to never happen though.
Let's start with Bill McCain with a pink slip.
Citizens of Wicomico County need to wake up and pay attention to who they elected to represent them. Speak up and don't let Joe & G.A. do all your talking. It's time to take back what belongs to you.....your community!!
Now is the time.
OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!!!!!!!!
No pain, no gain.
Well here i am again lets take a look at just who's nose is growing.
Rick Pollitt NOOOO!!!
Mike Lewis NOOOOOOO!!!!
Hmmm I guess this leave s the little bunch of Cannon's Angels. Thier noses are so long they can smell an ant at 250 yards. Sorry ladies and gentlemen of the coucil i have lost a bit of respect. I voted on numerous issues over the years and it is the same old story just the faces have changed a bit. I heard through the grapevine and this may not be true but Stevie and WOW Holloway want to meet with the F.O.P. 111 and try to resolve the issues at hand. This being said it would save both sides money none of us have. Welll that is not all true. The State Lodge Of the F.O.P. is willing to go deep pockets if needed they feel that strongly about the political issues at hand. I personally want it all kept in house and up front. I think small steps and a willingness to work, sound common sense will prevail. I do believe we have a good council there is someone stirring the muck I am not sure why. i can take a guess and it involves power. The people of this county spoke and certain people did not listen. i have beat this horse until it wont walk anymore. I just dont see the major issue with meeting in the middle and having something we all can live with. We live in an awesome county with great people all around us. We have managed to remain above the fray 95% of the time. It is time for a new year and a new approach to this very simple task. Work as one and we will be one. i think this county can be a shining example of unity. We have all the people in place just not the same place at one time. It is time for a meeting of the minds and let common sense predicate what we need to do. I would ask that citezens of the county be asked to join a task force if yu will to help. then no one can say my district is not represented. Let the The Exec. and the Sheriff and the Council meet and wotk out the logistics. Then allow the F.O.P. to at least voice whatever concerns they regaurding this issue. It is not the bill of rights we are working to accomplish here but a minor working relationship with those who can get it done. It makes geat sense and builds storng goverment. Sheriff Mike lewis is the future of law Enforcement in this county as long as he chooses to stay. i feel the same goes for Rick Pollittt. Soo who is left in this equasition. The Counciland the F.O.P. Ladies and gentlemen lets getit done and give everyone involved a financial break as well as the public a break from having to hear about it over and over again. I just have faith this can be done if everyone just lowers the walls a bit and in the spirit of what is right and just we can work this out. Have A Great New Year and be Safe. may God watch over us all. Times will be getting harder in the future lets build a core that can suceed in matters that should have been addressed many years ago. It should not have gotten to this point. Mr. Albero thank you for a venue to air just these types of concerns keep up the great work. Lets build a stronger tommorow by working as a team today.
All during the campaign of the Council they all talked the political talk about what the Deputies deserved, but after being elected they could not walk the walk. This council has NOT enacted anything for the Sheriffs Deputies that I have seen. There is still no LEOPS, no decent retirement, disability or anything. In that same article it stated that all the Deputies got a 7.5% payraise also but thats NOT TRUE. Some did but there were alot that did not. Saying it is State Police pay parity is a BIG JOKE. I am sick of hearing that Tale.
