As some of you may know, I am the owner of the Factory Direct Window Co. which is a distributor of vinyl replacement windows and steel entry doors (we've recently expanded what we offer to include other building supplies such as interior solid pine doors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, etc). I also own a construction company, Supreme Construction & Remodeling, which is licensed by the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC #95510). The experts are stating the obvious - this winter will yield record high home heating costs regardless of whether we have a "mild" winter. One of the best ways to make sure that your home is as energy efficient as possible is to replace drafty old windows with high quality vinyl replacement windows with insulated glass.
We offer the Earthwise Eclipse 6500 double hung vinyl replacement window with 3/4 inch insulated glass for $183.95 - and most installations are free. This means removing a standard old wooden double hung window up to 101 united inches (width plus height) including related storm window, and installing a new basic vinyl double hung replacement window. Any grids, low "E" glass, or capping of the exterior wood window trim would be extra. I know of two other contractor friends of mine who install the same style of window the same way listed above and charge between $275.00 and $350.00 per window.
There is another company in the area which will remained unnamed who is part of a national chain and advertises windows installed for $189.00.........then they add to remove storm windows, to dispose of the old windows, and a "fuel surcharge". I know this because I recently hired an experienced member of one of their window crews. A typical bait and switch. DON'T BE FOOLED!
My estimates are free. Call my office @ 410-835-8010 and talk to one of the girls about setting up an appointment. I'll bring out a sample and show you how to stop old man winter from stealing your money while being part of the movement to "Go Green" by doing your part to conserve energy and become less dependent on foriegn oil.

We're SATISFIED CUSTOMERS!!! This company came and replaced 24 year old name-brand windows, which were not holding up as well as you might expect. The new windows arrived as scheduled, the installers were professional and did a GREAT JOB, and, as promised, they were FAR more reasonable than the other bids or proposals that we had gotten. We tell everyone we know to call Factory Direct.
As for the windows, immediately we noticed that we could no longer hear the neighbor noises, which means that our house is much tighter to air infiltration. AND, they look awesome. Thanks for the home improvement, Grand Dad!!!
Linn and HG
Thanks Linn. I'm glad your pleased. I've been meaning to call you. I'm gonna give you a call Monday.
PS. I talked to your son last week and he will be finding a new Camaro for me when they come out. I can't wait.
all your workers legal grand-dad???
(just askin).
Yes....all of my workers are legal. LOL As a matter of fact all of my workers were born right here in the U.S.
hell yeah, glad to hear it. as a fellow middle class business man i salute you. well done.
'm all for making homes more energy efficient and reducing our dependency upon foreign oil but linking the two is a bit misleading.
Only 7% of US homes are heated with oil and 70% of our oil is conumed in transportation.

We use more oil than any other country and rank pretty high in per capita consumption.

Our ability to reduce dependency upon foreign oil by drilling our own has been vastly overstated.

If we are going to cut our dependency we need to cut our consumption. Apparently we're deaf to the calls we should have been answering since the 70s though.
Energy bills are way to high. I agree, we do need to reeuce oil independence. In the meantime, If you need help with your electric bills, http://www.helppayingutilitybills.com was an OK resource. Do you have any more advise on programs or ways to get help?
YAY Daddy!!! I have been sending people your way as well... A lot of people have been asking me where they can get new windows and shutters since the weather hasn't been the greatest... now it's up to them to call you!!... Hope it works
