Salisbury Police Department Press Releases

On September 1, 2008 at approximately 11:07 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department received a call to assist Emergency Medical Services with an unattended death beneath the Rt. 50 drawbridge. Upon arrival, the officers observed that the victim had died beneath the bridge, on the west bank of the river. It appeared as if the victim had been sleeping under the bridge.

Detectives of the Salisbury Police have identified the deceased as 53 year old Leroy Mapp of Fruitland, Md. Mapp had been reported missing to the Fruitland Police Department in July of 2008. An autopsy of Mapp by the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed no suspicious circumstances involved in Mapp’s death.

On September 3, 2008 at approximately 7:31 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department placed the below listed suspect under arrest for the sale of a fraudulent controlled dangerous substance to a Salisbury Police undercover officer in May of 2008. During May, the Salisbury Police Department conducted several undercover operations targeting the illegal sale of controlled dangerous substances. During this operation, the below listed suspect sold the undercover officer fake crack/cocaine in the area of First St. and Pearl St. A large number of offenders have already been arrested pursuant to these investigations.

ARRESTED: Edward Earl Stephens, 53 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

Distribution of fake CDS (4 counts)
Possession with intent to distribute fake CDS (4 cts)
Conspiracy to possess non controlled CDS
Possession of a non controlled CDS

On September 3, 2008 at approximately 7:45 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department met with a victim of an on-going domestic situation in reference to an assault. The victim advised that she had been assaulted by the below listed suspect as a result of an argument and pending court action. During the investigation of the assault, it was found that the suspect had also made telephone threats to commit arson at a local business where the victim was employed.

ARRESTED: Dauntaea Shanae Menafee, 23 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

CHARGES:
Threat of arson
Second degree assault
Violation of a peace order
