A Letter To The Editor

Don't restrict the voices of council representatives

A council member should never lose contact with his or her constituents.
Unfortunately, the simple majority on the Salisbury City Council practically
has forgotten this practice.

I remember when City Council President Louise Smith was campaigning for her
slot -- she jumped like a monkey on the corner of Camden Avenue and Riverside
Drive. She fooled many people -- including me -- but people learn from their
mistakes, and I certainly learn from mine.

As a citizen and taxpayer of Salisbury, I support people from both the City
Council and the mayor's office. I understand that there will be disagreements
between the two sides of our government, but that is democracy, isn't it?

I have shared this thought with Mayor Barrie Parsons Tilghman in the past.

I don't see anything wrong with councilwomen Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen
asking legitimate questions to the administration.

For Smith and the other two members of the simple majority to change the
speaking time rules is just anti-democracy and anti-civility.

There are many city taxpayers who cannot attend meetings on a regular basis.
Hence, we depend on the voices of those council members who are still in
contact with their constituents.

Please do not silence their voices because by doing so, you are attempting to
silence the people who sent you there.

Justiniano Leon Jr.

Salisbury

Mr. Leon, applause, applause. I couldn't have said it better!

Mr. Leon:

A very good letter, but I have one question:

Are you aware that Barrie tells Louise Smith what to do and it's done as told? Tilghman must have some information about Louweasel that lets her be dominated by Barrie, because of the threat of publicity.

Doesn't Mr. Leon realize that his friend Barrie is now the organ-grinder for the monkey-weasel!

10:29 --

DID YOU MEAN "EXPOSURE" INSTEAD OF "PUBLICITY"?

maybe their bull-daggers.

Mr. Leon:

If we can get rid of Barrie Tilghman as mayor and keep Bubba Comegys out of that office in next years election, things will get better, even with Louise Smith on the Council.

Will you be there to help the cause????

11:15...If you took time to read the letter-he is ALREADY helping the cause!!

It takes time for a good campaign and to get good candidates. I will do my best to help reshape our government. I strongly support democracy based on debate. This does not mean we are always going to agree on every single issue like the three amigos do in our current city council, but to have a true civility in our legislative chambers we must agree on something: disagreement is always part of the debate.

Mr. Leon -

Please come to the next City Council meeting and during the public comment say "LOUISE: I WANT MY VOTE BACK!"

No 11:15, we have to rid ourselves of the whole crew, Gary , Barrie, Louise and Shanie. Plus dump some others along with them. Anyone who sits there and allows our God given freedoms to be stomped upon like what has happened for sometime now in this city, needs to be sent to someplace where they will learn how to be Americans! Time is here for major change. Mr. Leon, your letter was good, but it didn't go far enough. I especially liked your use of the terms anti-American and anti-civility! Fits them to a "T".

Welcome back Mr. Leon!
Where have you've been? Will you be running?

No one should be criticizing Mr. Leon in the least. He has signed his name to a well-written letter.

Bravo, Sir. And if you feel sometime you can go speak at a meeting, God Bless You!
