Exciting Breaking News!

Could ESPN be coming to Salisbury? It looks like a strong possibility thanks to Fernando Guerrero and Hal Chernoff.

ESPN contacted Hal Chernoff Tuesday and asked him to check into the availability of the Wicomico County Civic Center for August 15th. That's right Folks, Fernando MIGHT get the opportunity to fight LIVE on ESPN right here in his Home Town!

We'll keep you posted on the arrangements and availability but if this were to happen, everyone needs to show their support by purchasing tickets and showing support so ESPN & HBO will show interest in covering more events here locally.

Thanks for the excitement Fernando. What a great kid!

Joe, Is it just me or what? We have a future world champion in our mists, one who has lived and is living a real american success story , who has been mentored and molded by a local Salisbury visionary, who has been held up and applauded by the best blog site I've ever read.... and there is seldom a comment excpt by a few like Tim Chaney. Why does it take fecal matter floating in the river or a convoluted city government to make people get excited? If there ever was a feel good local story..THIS IS IT!

I bet more people go to see Wrasslin on the 10th at the Civic Center than go to see a nationally televised boxing match featuring a local boxer that only maybe a handful of people locally know about. Its a shame really.

Didn't he also knock out his south paw sparing partner that is a former world champ?

I used to love boxing, I still do although what it does need is more people like Fernando and Hal. It's not always just about the fight, it's about the class they show. The things they give back to the community that make these two a winning team!
