people make sure your a-c air filters are clean, pull all blinds closed, utilize your cieling fans to move air,be conscience of going in and out of your exterior doors, try to get your home chilled down befor the peak heat in the afternoon, because once we get into the mid ninties most a-c systems will be fighting a loosing battle until the sun breaks down on the horizon, then your hvac system will start winning the fight to cool your home. also its a good idea to make sure that your attic exaust fans are working and controlling the temperature in the attic, this reduces the heat load on the a-c system as well as the ductwork. a little common sense can go along way and save you money.

Choptank's peak period ran from 3-6 PM both yesterday, and today.

This is the period of time when they send out the automatic load control signals. These signals instruct those boxes connected to your water heaters and A/C compressor units to switch off for some intervals.

Many folks who operate chicken houses have generators and automatic transfer switches installed to switch the entire farm off the grid during the peak demand period when load controls are needed.

Anyone who is on Choptank's RPR rate is alerted to the peak demand by a signal sent out by the coop, and if they continue to use electricity during that period, they have to pay a whopping $1.90+ per kWh.

I have automatic equipment in place to switch off most of my house during these periods, to both save on money, and help alleviate the peak demand conditions.

I don't know if the Delaware COOP has a similar rate program in place or not.
