Wicomico County Sheriff's Department Press Release

Incident: Theft

Date of Incident: 22 April 2008

Location: Wicomico County Roads Division, 28440 Owens Branch Road, Salisbury, MD

Suspects:
1. Guy William Broadhurst, 36, Salisbury, MD
2. Jeffrey Lee Bromley, 33, Princess Anne, MD

Narrative: On 22 April 2008, a deputy responded to the Wicomico County Roads Division for the report of a theft of metal from that location. Upon arrival, the deputy was advised that six metal roller, designed specifically for the Wicomico Ferry, had been taken from their storage location along with eight snow plow blades. The total value for the stolen merchandise is over $24,000.00.

The theft suspects were seen leaving the area by County employees after they had loaded a pick-up truck with the metal objects. It was also learned that the theft suspects were captured on the new surveillance system installed at the Wicomico County Roads Division. From the witnesses and the surveillance system, the deputy was able to identify the vehicle. Because of previous contacts with the same individuals in this vehicle, the deputy was able to identify the two theft suspects. Based on the investigation, it was now learned that Guy Broadhurst and Jeffrey Bromley were the two thieves. Deputies located Bromley on 24 April 2008 in the same suspect vehicle used to commit the theft and also discovered that he had a receipt from a scrap yard where the pair had sold the stolen metal. The investigating Deputy went to the scrap yard and discovered they too had a surveillance system that caught the same pair receiving payment for the purloined items.

Bromley was arrested on 24 April 2008 for the theft and taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center where he is being held on $10,000 bond. An arrest warrant has been obtained for Guy Broadhurst but he has not been located as of yet. Broadhurst’s last known address was in Salisbury, MD. Anyone with information as to Broadhurst’s whereabouts is asked to call the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4890 or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.

Or being held a gunpoint, or raped. We could only be so lucking if only salisbury residents would pee in our lawns, and make loud noise.

Another theft from the county? Yea I want to hear the county exec talk about how much the loss of revenue the land transfer tax cap has been. You really aren't improving gaining the trust of the taxpayers.

Is this Bromely the same who is related to the Lt. on the Pocomoke PD who's brother was arrested for Murder last year?

This guy is Bromley. The murderer's name is Brumley. This Bromley is related (son) to a law enforcement officer in Somerset County. Jeff Bromley knows his way around the local jailhouses.

I don't know why these scrap yards except snow plow blades that are obviously not junk and belong to a government. If you ask me they are as bad as pawn shops. They are no better than the thieves. They now that most of the scrap metal and copper they take in is stolen.

This guy looks like someone you would not want to pass in a dark alley. Scary!!!!

Bitter? These are the things that happen to SU students by SU residents.

Hate to contradict anyone, but both scrap yards and pawn shops are subject to strict regulations, including requiring valid ID.There is virtually no way to get away with thefts indefinitely or anonymously.I do think we should follow the lead of Florida lawmakers and require a thumbprint as well as ID in recycling and/or pawn businesses.
That very practice led to the capture and arrest of the notorious female serial killer in Florida several years back, because she pawned items she had stolen from her victims.
Pawnshops and scrapmen do their part as required by law,is the point I am making.

yanno, its funny, i played on a baseball team with mr broadhurst, a full 25 years ago... i could tell, WAY BACK THEN, that this kid was headed to jail... f-fwd to 3 weeks ago, and i was at a friends office, and somehow the topic of west salisbury baseball came up, and then we talked about how we were on the same team back then, then we started to talk about people we remembered, etc... i happened to mention guy's name and said, "damn, i wonder whatever happened to guy broadhurst..." and we both looked at each other, and simultaneously we both said, kinda chuckling... "probably in jail"...

well... well... well... guess i've been spot on about that cat, since day 1... im a firm believer in thin-slicing, and this proves it even more...

for more on thin slicing, check out the book, "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell

3:37 :

How is stealing on the outside comparable to students "terrorizing" on the inside, i.e. thru windows?

(it's only a matter of time.)
