Budget Hearing

PUBLIC HEARING - CITY OF SALISBURY
FISCAL YEAR 2009 BUDGET
WED., MAY 21, 6 PM
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, GOV'T. OFFICE BUILDING
MAKE YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

The Mayor increased her office budget 120%, but the number of police officers ZERO in 10 years…

The Mayor this year has denied meaningful raises for all personnel -
except three members of her own office.

The City Attorney's budget? Up 97% in 10 years… This year, the mayor's budget raises it by 36%.

Bonded Debt has risen 308% in 10 years…

The proposed 13.5% increase in just bonded debt payments this year alone
($247,728) would pay for three police officers or paramedic firefighters.

Will there be a 25% increase in water/sewer rates this year and 20% increase the next year? We don't know, because the Mayor simply plugged in over $4 million of surplus to balance that fund's budget until council decides.

Instead of the Mayor spending $14,250 on a "Citizen Attitude Survey," we need to tell what we think! Our elected officials owe us responsible spending, effective planning and full accountability!

Joe:

Don't forget that she also wants to spend $5,000 to compete in the "All American City" contest -- can you imagine them choosing this place???

Joe:

Please send this to that Daily Times reporter who wrote that junk yesterday about 10 years of Barrie Tilghman so she can write the real history.

On record, mayor Tilgman, the worst Mayor in the history of Salisbury! Its a sad era for the leadedrship of Salisbury to say the least....

all this and 2 murders in 1 week...somebody better be there to talk about public safety!!

Anon 202 don't you know that crime is down in Salisbury? The mayor said so, it must be true.

Even Matt Tilghman must be doubting this woman's abilities at this point.
How embarassing to all of us, those who've allowed it to happen and those who've created this fiasco.
There is NO reason anyone would, on purpose, move into the city limits of SBY.

This is exactly what they want. A city of rental properties. A metropolitan ghetto. Just like Baltimore. They of course will be moving to the county. Lets see how long Barrie stays on Monitor Ct after she is kicked out of office.

In another year or so, Barrie will be living on the same block as Mikey Dunn. Who knows where Matt will be.

We received a postcard in the mail today with this information on it. To say the least, it is appalling. Thank you to the concerned taxpayers, for taking the time to send this.

Please make the time and money spent by the "concerned taxpayers" worth it by showing up to speak at the public hearing Wednesday night.

Even if it falls on deaf ears, it NEEDS TO BE SAID! Strength in numbers!

We should all bring a large photo of the mayor to the meeting. Each one of us should take turns smacking the picture with our shoe like the Iraqi's did with Saddam.

I too received a postcard. Thank you.

We did NOT get a post card. How may we?

Methinks, these are the reasons for the "FLOATING", large money accounts.

CYA, bigtime!
