Tax Guy Is Right

The photo above was a quick shot coming over the Rt. 90 Bridge heading into Ocean City yesterday around 3:00 PM. Many buildings simply disappeared in the heavy fog. Tax Guy Said.....

"Yesterday, the fog rolled in late, and I was shocked that there was no Worcester county delay. I drove up Coastal Hwy, and kept calling my wife asking if she's sure there was no delay.

Today, she calls me with the delay and I'm just as shocked, cause it was bright sunny and clear on my commute.

It all can be explained with the fact that the fog decision is made around 5am. Yesterday, fog later, today, fog earlier. Just bad timing."

wicomico county does the same thing! they don't delay school on a day that obviously they should. then i'm sure they receive complaints and overreact accordingly the following day.

In my best pro athlete persona referring to myself in the 3rd person...

Tax guy don't put it in writing unless tax guy believes it to be fact.

Thanks for the props. I don't think today was about over-reacting to complaints, it's more about the 5am conditions. That's when the decision is made.

The reason for no delay yesterday (when conditions were far worse than today) was due to the fact that there was testing going on (at BIS anyway). I don't think there was testing today, that's why we got the 1hr delay. Kinda' disturbing if true.

It would appear that you are correct. There was testing in Wicomico yesterday as well. My daughter overheard two administrators discussing the testing as the reason there was no delay. Thanks to "No Child Left Alive".

testing has been going on yesterday and today...

Both counties also had Shorebirds Field Trips planned on Wednesday for several schools.

I checked the daily times website for an update on the delay. It said Wicomico was 2 hours late. After juggling our schedules to accomodate the delay, when we took her to school, we found that the daily times reported it INCORRECT. It was a 1 hour delay. So my daughter gets a tardy on her record. If you are going to be a media outlet, make sure your reporting is factual. Thanks alot daily times.

It wasn't foggy at my house, but less than a mile down the road, you couldn't see 2 feet in front of you. It's hard to predict.. Let's just say, I wouldn't want to be the "decider"... lol And yes, Wico had testing today, too.

Telephone calls to various police agencies that have forces on the road, and board of education drivers scout the areas around the county between 3-4 am, and make the call based on the conditions found. Conditions can change either way, but I can assure you that error is always made on the side of safety to delay, regardless of the plans within the school agenda that day. btw Joe, what are you doing in Ocean City, you cause enough problems in SBY? Just kidding, your always welcome!, missed ya Monday night at our silly council meeting.
