If it's going to all troops from MD, they might also like something like Old Bay. That was one of my husband's favorite things to receive. It really spices up an MRE!!!

I just found something online that seems like it would also be great for the troops. I found it on wishingfish.com I don't know if it is also anywhere else, but it's like paper soap, shampoo, and shaving cream. They're not cheap, but space efficient and good for those that don't have access to a lot of water everywhere they go.

CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE WWW.ANYMARINE.COM OR WWW.ANYSOLDIER.COM IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DROP ITEMS OFF DURING THIS DROP OFF, BUT WISH TO SEND ITEMS, YOU CAN GET A POINT OF CONTACT FROM THAT WEBSITE AND SEND THE ITEMS DIRECTLY TO A SERVICE MEMBER IN IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN. THE OLD BAY IS A GREAT IDEA, ESPECIALLY THE OLD BAY POTATO CHIPS, NICE REMINDER OF THE SHORE!

THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT...

Great will start getting stuff ready now, thanks, and by the way what the hell do they need eye liner and make-up for?????? they are not there to look pretty, if they want to be a solider then they should act like one.
but i do support them and will get things ready for them.

I guess this 30 lbs of hand made goat milk soap won't be acceptable to send. Oh well, someone will be happy to have it.

It would be helpful to have a listing of items that are banned in that region of the world.

Thank you guys for your help and support by looking into this. Don't forget to stop by and donate on Friday May 2nd from 7 to 5!

Why no pork?

donna,
Is the goat milk soap scented? Homemade soaps are really great for the skin and the earth. I love it when ppl get into homemade and organic goods....it's what we need to get back to in this economy and environmental "war".
BTW, my uncle is in Irag now and they love to get sudoku, word finds,crosswords,magazines....it takes them away from the "war zone" mentality for just a few minutes. God bless our troops!

Why no pork?

Because those that are killing our troops dont eat pork. We can't hurt their feelings by allowing our troops to eat the things they like.

Geez Boss Hogg, don't you know that would be a mortal sin of the worst kind in the politically correct world?

Donna,
I actually sent some of your soaps to my husband (the old bay lover) and he very much appreciated it... especially the lemon verbena!

Countrygirl, yes, the soaps are scented, not girly though as a matter of fact many of them are men specific scents.

Glad your husband enjoyed the soap, it had to help in that climate.

Maybe I'll take the soaps down there and give it a shot, if they accept them that would be great, if not that's not a problem either the shelter and nursing homes will make good use of them.

When my nephew was in Iraq I sent him some DVD's. He was a staff Sergeant in Apache and Blackhawk maintenance. While many don't have those luxuries, some do and he enjoyed them. Afterward's he could swap for something else.
