Secondly, a Wicomico County Deputy was making an arrest at the Salisbury Mobile Home Park and was assaulted. The Officer is fine and the suspect is now in a nice set of "Love Bracelets."

Joe I was just in salisbury and knew something was going on. How ever it looks like because an officer was involved, here is what I wittnessed at Mill street. We are sitting at the light and here comes a black charger headed east on 50, gets to the light behind traffic and lights and siren on constant trying to move cars out of the way. well where did he think they could go at that intersection? He then goes as far as to get out of the car and proceed in yelling at the people in those cars to get out of the way, he nearly run into the back of the car he was behind and then into the side of it trying to go around it. Very unproffessional, did not look pretty. Just because, by the way it sound another officer was involved, he put others in a life thretening situation.
He needs to get disciplined just like the firefighter responding to Ocean City!
Black charger - isn't that the Sheriff's Dept? Can't imagine they would do anything like that (said with sarcasm).
I was actually there at Mill St. as well, and saw what anon 456 saw. It was really disturbing...there really was no where for those cars to go to get out of his way, except into the already full intersection...I was sincerely hoping that there was some huge life threatening situation that he was rushing to.
He clearly had too much coffee.

Boy I really feel a lot better since the newspaper printed "Those Facts?" About crime being down in the city. Statistics can't be manipulated can they?

Why is that any different than the "makes it look bad" comment that Gail Barkovich when she was suggesting that anyone working in government should not be conducting personal business with their own department, like the paper printed about Alessi's conducting contracts with the WCLCB stores? And all this talk about Terry and having a lawsuit against the city (really wasn't a lawsuit) when Alessi really did sue the city.
If a county council member suggested it be a "borderline" ethics questions, now why was the Gordo allowed to buy property, then turn around sell it to the city and make a fortune. I thought there was a state law on that. I know that there is a difference in city and county, however if it's state law, it doesn't matter whether it city or county about flipping property to someone else who only re-flipped it and sold to the city at a huge profit. Ethics are ethics in any body of government.
The closer our country goes into a recession or depression- the more crime we will have. People aren't going to starve or see their families suffer. So, the solution for the poor is to take from the haves and the havenots will enjoy some luxury too. Wealthy people should share their bounty with those less fortunate. If not, it may be taken from them anyway.Hard times are coming. We haven't seen anything yet.
Why don't you describe the deputy so some discipline action can be taken.
I was there at Mill St. too. I saw the girl in the car that wouldn't move. She was too busy talking on her cell phone. That deputy sat there for a long time and she just chatted away. Maybe he should go back and charge her for not yielding to him. I’m pretty sure you are required to yield to a police vehicle. Also as he got close I couldn’t see the lights since they are only in the front of the black car, maybe she didn’t see the lights, but I don’t know how she didn’t hear the siren.
I think this supports the deputy too with the girl who wouldn't move.
§21–405.
(a) On the immediate approach of an emergency vehicle using audible and visual signals that meet the requirements of § 22-218 of this article or of a police vehicle lawfully using an audible signal, the driver of every other vehicle, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall yield the right-of-way.
(b) On the immediate approach of an emergency vehicle using audible and visual signals that meet the requirements of § 22-218 of this article or of a police vehicle lawfully using an audible signal, the driver of every other vehicle, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall drive immediately to a position parallel to and as close as possible to the edge or curb of the roadway, clear of any intersection.
(c) On the immediate approach of an emergency vehicle using audible and visual signals that meet the requirements of § 22-218 of this article or of a police vehicle lawfully using an audible signal, the driver of every other vehicle, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, shall stop and stay in this position until the emergency vehicle has passed.
(d) A driver, when proceeding in the same direction as an emergency or police vehicle, may not pass an emergency vehicle using audible and visual signals that meet the requirements of § 22-218 of this article or a police vehicle lawfully using an audible signal unless:
(1) The emergency vehicle has stopped; or
(2) Otherwise directed by a police officer.
(e) This section does not relieve the driver of an emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons.
10:37 nice and long but the only place to go was forward into the busy intersection and get hit. He would only have to wait a couple of seconds anyway before he could go. I have seen police cars do the same thing at this intersection before, and cause an accident. when the car was pulling to right to move out of the way the cop wouln't even give them the chance to move, he went right also and still almost hit the side of the car moving. And getting out of the car and yelling at the people in the car what is up with that?
This deputy has demonstrated in a unprofessional manner the proper way to handle a stressful situation! Maybe he should read the post Anon.10:37AM has in the last paragraph! It reads "This section does not relieve the driver of an emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS!"He did not demonstrate this through his actions on that day! Maybe he should be recommended for some stress management classes or better yet get in the EAP for some help!
I wish that bald-headed deputy had hit a car! He was too aggressive in this situation. Common sense went out the window when he was in code red!

If you can't GTF out of the way, turn in your license and GTF off the road!
There was another Officer being assaulted at the time and when a Brother is down, you get there and you waste no time doing so.
Look, I remember the Movie Backdraft, I'm sure everyone else does too. Remember the BMW parked in the Fire Lane near the Hydrant? The smashed out the passenger window and the drivers window and ran the hose through the freakin car. That's what it's all about Folks.
The Officer should have take down every tag number not immediately getting out of the way and later arrested each and every one of those not following the law.
Now this goes for Fire Rescue Vehicles as well. You show RESPECT and GTF out of the way, period. When they are in an emergency situation, Police & Fire, their lights and sirens are on, GTF out of the way, end of story!
I'm CONFIDENT the officer involved here felt comfortable in knowing everyone in the way could safely move out of the way and that's what more than likely upset him.
Fine each and every one of them Officer. Write them tickets so they can learn to respect your authority!

Yeah, the officer in distress really needed he help.. He was spit on by a female and struggle insued...

Actually he was assaulted by a female and was also fighting with a male. With a large crowd gathering.
I have a suggestion: how about the police clearly identify themselves? What is wrong with driving in Police Cars? Why the black non-descript cars? Is that like the police wearing black ski masks? How about the black helicopters? Why do we have secret police? That's not American.

Are you people totally fools or what. The article clearly states that there was an armed robbery in progress and an officer was getting assaulted on another incident at the same time. "I was sincerely hoping that there was some huge life threatening situation that he was rushing to." Duh, read the article heading.
Would you want your family member, or even you, to get robbed at gun point, an emergency situation in itself because it could result in the death or serious injury to the store clerk or whatever. Wouldn't you want the police to respond quickly?
Secondly, the officer got struck by a female, not spit on, ALTHOUGH STILL AN ASSAULT, and there was a seperate struggle that ensued with another person. So get your facts straight. Where do you people come up with this crap??
To address the black cars and helecopters and blah blah blah. Look fool, a police car is a police car, get out of the way. They aren't marked so OBVOUISLY the police can sneek up on criminals engaging in criminal activity. Let's mark all the cars so the criminals know when a police car is coming from miles away.... stupid. Black helecopters? take some medication.
Well if the freaking idiot Eastern Shore drivers wouldn't stop in or block intersections ILLEGALLY people would be abl;e to get out of the way. Rt 50 and Mill is bad and the one at Riverside/ Mill/ Camden/ Carroll is much worse. Everyone is in a huge rush to go nowhere and the go into an intersection they KNOW they can't clear and block traffic. Even when the light goes green there has been times I was unable to go due to the prior intersection still sitting in the middle of the road. If you can't clear you aren't supposed to go. Geez Maryland MVA must really od a shi**y job of testing as I see it all the time here.
First of all if this deputy was on their way to you then you would be b****ing that they didn't respond fast enough. I am so tired of hearing people complain because they are soooooo stupid. Those of you that can't drive are the ones that cause accidents the deputies are the ones there to direct the traffic while the fire department picks parts of you off the road. Please people think before you say stupid things. To the deputy, I hope you remember the tag number and do a background check because if you get a call to respond to them Go take a s**t first because you may have a long slow ride there. Keep up the good work! Next time plow into them ... then they will move
