I was just heading into Salisbury from my home when I got onto Rt. 50. I was making the U-Turn to head East when I saw what I thought at first was a Police Vehicle. It was heading at a high rate of speed so I quickly pulled onto Rt. 50 and accelerated, after noticing it was a Fire Chief's Car.
Since I'm such an expert as speed, I can easily say they were going 75 mph. When they turned onto Business Rt. 50 they slowed down to 65 in a 50 zone. I finally caught up with them at the light at Nanticoke Road where they were turning left and I realized it was Deputy Chief Gordy and Chief See in the vehicle. Don't think for a second they weren't sh!tting their pants when they saw me pull up beside them.
My camera was in the back seat and I couldn't reach it. As I'm confident many of you will come on here and challenge what I'm saying and all I can tell you is, I'm not lying and I'm not exaggerating.
There were no emergency lights on this vehicle while they were driving down the road. All I can tell you from here on out is, keep your eyes on their Crown Victoria's because I doubt very seriously they're going to slow down just because of me.
This happened at 11:30 am.

It would apperar all MARKED crown vics more times than not go over the speed limit. We have seen unmarked and marked police cars go through our school zone in excess of 50 to 60 or more with no lights on. But if you ask them to come help control the speed in your community, they think you are an idiot for asking. start a blog about that.

There are occasions where you have to get there without lights and sirens and some occasions where your supervisor will not let you go but you feel compelled to go faster anyway (then you take all the risk in your own hands), it is hard to slow down sometimes when you have been rushing to all the calls over and over and forget to calm down. This occurs more in Salisbury because of their very restrictive lights and siren policy. And, yes there are those who just drive fast, as most of the people driving today do. No excuse for it, just explaining so you are more informed.

I have wittnesed one time in salisbury, two m.s.p. cars trying to move people out of the way coming to mill street, light flashing,sirens a blowing as hard as they could, yea they moved cars alright. They got so nervous they pulled out into rt. 50 into traffic and caused an accident right there. well one had to stay there with that accident,unreal!
WHO CARES!!! I go 75 MPH down the major roads around here all the time. I never get a ticket. The speed laws are out of date with modern vehicle technology.

2:38 WRONG, if it warrants speed, other than a case where a suspect may not nned to hear the siren, there is no excuse for a responce without all emergency equipment. The law also does not allow for that type of responce.

I just can't see a threat of any type from this statement. It only proves that local law enforcement knows who he is and will not tolerate these type of situations if one of them witnesses this type of situation. Enough with the p!ssing match! The bottom line is this: If the laws governing the use of lights and/or siren at speeds in excess of 10 mph OVER the posted speed limits are so lax, they need to be changed, NOW! Texas and other states finally wised up and made it illegal for police/state troopers/emergency vehicles to run without at least having lights on if they go more than 10 over posted. Why did they do this? DEATHS caused by speeding police. I have personal experience of knowing 3 people, 2 in one accident and one in another, that were killed this way. And the courts found against the police!
seems like we have 12 year olds in station 16 at least that is what their maturity level seems....
I think a story about speeding police would be most informative.
Tonight, I almost got t-boned by an MSP in Trappe. They were making a U-turn. Blew by my car doing about 75+ a few minutes later. No lights during the whole thing.
Two weeks ago, just before Cambridge, an MSP passed me at about 90 mph. I was in the right lane, and the left lane was empty. The SOB got so close to my car while changing lanes that I couldn't even see their headlights anymore. Once again, no lights.
It also seems like cops are always talking on their cell phones while driving, too. I would have liked to see the cops try to enforce that potential "no cell phone" law given that they are some of the worst offenders.
