The word has been spreading about Ray Lewis sponsoring the Salisbury Festival. I've been told that Brad Belachicco (sp?) stated that Ray Lewis has not been indicted and that's why they accepted his sponsorship. However, even Mr. Pollitt stated, while this may be true, Ray Lewis has confessed.
Look, I like the Salisbury Festival and I think it's great for the community. However, to accept crooked money for such an event will keep me from making any purchases there, period. I will attend the event to take pictures but that will be it.
Mayor Tilghman should be outraged and the City should demand such sponsorship be denied and dropped immediately.
"The Salisbury Festival is the largest festival in Wicomico County and draws over 25,000 people for three days of activities. It is planned by the Chamber with assistance from Comcast Cablevision of Delmarva (the corporate sponsor) and many of our member companies and supporting community groups."

boy or boy,i just emailed those nuts and told them how stupid that is. what the hell are they thinking. if they continue to allow the thief to sponsor the fesival, people should go protest there or somewhere.
I have also emailed the Chamber. They are out of their mind to take his dirty money, which in fact is my money. I am not in the mood to donate.

I told them I want an answer to why this descision was made and what idiot made it . They owe us an explanation. This is the stupidst thing i have ever heard just about.
Certainly not one of their best decisions. I hope it is reversed. They cannot accept endorsement or funds from criminals (confessed thief), especially to fund their biggest community event. Doesn't make much sense to me!

Someone's judgement at the Chamber is way off center to even consider taking money from ASAP/Ray Lewis. This man has stolen from every citizen in Wicomico County and the organization that represents businessess would hold Lewis up as a sponsor for the largest downtown community event. The executive director used the excuse that Lewis hasn't been convicted. Give me a break. Come on Brad, you need to reconsider whose money you are willing to accept. Maybe you should ask your membership if they want a thief who stole from them to be a sponsor.
Give Ray a break. This is his way of returning the money that he made selling a little diesel fuel. He is like Robin Hood. He robbed rich Wicomico County and now he is giving it back to help the poor people enjoy the Salisbury Festival.Brad probably got a little tip to allow good ole Ray to be the sponsor. Brad can always use a little extra money to take his family on vacation. Of course this may be a plea bargain where Ray can do this and be excused from his crimes. They don't want any further investigations that would incriminate the hierarchy. So now everything is back to normal. And life goes on.
As a taxpayer in Wicomico County I am outraged that they would let Ray lewis sponser the Salisbury Festival. What a smack in the face to all the hardworking, honest people of this county. Someone should have to answer for this or are they too part of Ray Lewis' scheme. I know some may say he is innocent unti proven quilty but he admitted to what he did.
If Mr Lewis is a sponser of this festival I will most certainly not attend and will advise other to boycott also.
I hope the Chamber gets lots of grief from this.
While I understand the guy isn't convicted, they still recovered OUR stuff from HIS property.
This isn't like taking a campaign contribution from someone who is questionable but still made private sector money legally.
This guy is trying to get good will from a community event after having stolen from the community! Who knows, maybe it's a way to try to influence his case, show him to be a "pillar of the community."

The Salisbury Chamber is a huge disappointment. If I had a business, I sure wouldn't join them!

The idea of tarnishing the Salisbury Festival with acceptance of what to me is "dirty money" is just outrageous.
Not only did Ray Lewis take from the taxpayers, but the taxpayers are going to have to pay for legal process and even supporting Lewis in jail if the sentence winds up that way.
More wonderful publicity for our already woefully embarrassing city.

You guys are letting Ray off the hook. If they dont take his money, that will be more money he can use to get out of jail. Man, does teh City and County look S.U.P.I.D! Jeff Foxworthy would have a blast with the Eastern Shore, you might be a red neck if your county lets you steal money to support a party. What you people don't realize is that ray has sponsored this event for the last 8 years!!! He has also sponsored more events here in this community then you realize and im sure that at one time or another you have been right there on the recieving end..rather it was for a church or a school that your child attends or a charity event.....so what do you hav't to say now?
i will be attending the festival if im in town....What you people dont understand it the fact that he has NOT been convicted of snything...did he do it? is he quilty? maybe... Gosh let the truth be told Ray Lewis has not sponsored the festival for 8 yrs. Ray only put a company banner up and placed his shit pots out there for people to use.So does it really matter about Ray? The people just don't have much to bi*** about so they find Ray. It has been to quite to long no one speaks of Ray then look it is festival time and now you want to talk. Just like placing that shit on the news that he sponsored it again it has been many many years since Ray sponsor anything. And even if you people thought that maybe the Chamber of Commerce really would let him sponsor anything you people are really addicted to what Joe speaks which most of the time is PURE CRAP!!!!
