"Student decries recall criticism" Of course I'm mentioned in the article but I never once received a call from Greg Latshaw. Obviously they read my Blog and at the top of the home page it clearly hosts my telephone number, so that shouldn't be the problem.
"Delmar resident and blogger Joe Albero announced he will kick off the petition by hosting a signing drive 10 a.m. at his 300 W. Main St. property." Well guys, we're simply meeting people there, many of which will be the very first time ANY of us have met. There's no signing of anything there and I offered it as a place to simply meet.
However, that's NOT a bad idea. Perhaps 300 W. Main Street should have someone there regularly to take signatures? I like it, consider it done. The article goes on to state it would cost taxpayers between $56,000.00 to $60,000.00. Heck, don't feel bad Jordan, I cost the City hundreds of thousands of dollars, (HONESTLY) and there are very few taxpayers complaining. When your cause is for the better for the taxpayer, they welcome it. So don't sweat it.

Amusing how they describe you as a Delmar resident and Jordan as an SU student. Although both statements are true, it is clearly done to give the impression that neither of you is a bona fide, average Salisbury citizen who is sick of the mayor.
Speaking of Daily Times coverage, not on the recall, but on the Bd. of Ed. Those retiring on or after June 30 with the normal 30 years of service will have 85% of their health care premiums paid by the taxpayers, up from the current 55%. Add this to that 10% bonus for up to three years, and you've got to wonder who in the central office will benefit from this newest handout. If it's done as they say to recruit new teachers, have it apply to those who are hired in 2008 and after.
Although I would love to see Barrie Tilghman removed I don't agree with revoking the 4-2 in residential neighborhoods, this was the last action spearheaded by CTWebster, and thankfully passed by holding TIlghmans feet to the fire. IF NOT for this ordinance the last owner occupied songle family homes adjacent to SU would al be student rentals.
The question to ask here is how much will it cost the taxpayers if they do nothing, and leave those crooks in office?
Seems to me that $60,000 is a bargain compared to what has been squandered/wasted by these incompetents thus far ....
It's a wonder the paper isn't still sipping sour grapes and bashing Andy Harris after Gilchrest's bitter loss. One damage control subject at a time I guess.
A good newspaper would offer views from both sides and leave it up to the readers to decide what they think is right. Propaganda works well here in good old boy country.
We know what resources we have. We will now need to see how much real support that the students will be willing to muster up. I gladly welcome their support. Together and only together we can make this happen. It's a lot of work folks.
56-60 g's??? Can't they just add that to the 10's of millions that are already unallocated for?
I think it is great that the employees are retiring with only having to pay for 15% of their health coverage. It should be that way for the Fire Fighters and Police Officers also. Motivation to do a good job and have longevity instead of being a stepping stone. Jealous of this, no problem go to school and you to could get hired in these jobs.

I agree that if the Bd of Ed was doing this insurance thing to recruit, it would only apply to new hires. Then they say it is to retain. How can it be to retain anybody when it starts with those retiring this July? They're already being paid 10% bonuses to say when they're leaving plus they would get this huge taxpayer gift (85% of health insurance paid) after they leave, so how does it retain people? If it's to retain middle experience people it should not apply to those retiring in a few months. Thornton money being decreased while money to help those retiring in the next three years is being increased almost every day. Don't the seven Bd. members question even some of this? I think the central office just says recruit and retain teachers, that sounds good, and the seven just nod their heads OK.

How is the new Bd of Ed insurance plan motivation to stay if it starts with those retiring in three months? Those people are already getting paid a 10% bonus to leave.
I think motivate those who are not already getting the 10% ENP bonus. Make it for new hires and for those retiring after 2010. Makes sense.
I'm sorry, but I just can't buy this 10 % increases for retiring teachers and now we add paying 85% of the Health Care? What makes these teachers that much better than other county employees? Sure would have liked to have had a 10% increase and big Health Care package when I retired in 1995 from the library!

I don't think it started out about the Board. Joe was talking about wasting taxpayers money and it just naturally went that way.
