Judge D. William Simpson, refuse the plea deal of 7 years and instead sentenced McMichael to 8 years on count 3 and on count 11, 5 years. He suspended 17 years on count 3 and 5 years on count 11. This will put McMichael in Jail for 13 years. More to come.........
I have corrected the sentence time above as I had the numbers backwards. I'm told McMichaels could be out in 5 years.

22 years for destroying a child? Still don't think that's enough, but it's sure as heck better than what the prosecutor agreed to on the plea.

Good...he deserves EVERY DAY of it...what's wrong with that guy...he's supposed to be upholding the law not breaking it...he will certainly have enough time to think about what he did do to those children! Hopefully,real justice will find him where it is he's going!!! Everything in life always comes full circle...
joe, you are wrong. he was senteced to 35 years with all but 13 suspended. that means 22 years was suspended.
That is why he is a good judge, plea bargains should ALL be thrown OUT! period!
Dont get to hung up on it, I am sure he has three or four more appeals and waste of money to go through!
The retired judge has restored my faith. Child abuse robs a child of innocence, security and faith in adults. It changes who they are. A seven-year plea deal would have been a travesty.

This is not a visiting Judge. William Donald Simpson has been stuffing the prisons full for a very long time. Retired? Yes. Visiting? Absolutely not.
It is a known fact, if you go in front of him, take your toothbrush because you are not going home.

Judge D. William Simpson is a retired judge of the Circuit Court. He does come back to the court to visit in when another judge is out of the courtroom. Wish there were more judges that were serving full time on the bench still or visiting back to the courtroom like him more often!!
I dont quite understand why Jermaine Wright is out of prison for killing someone but yet McMichael is going to jail for 13 yrs. Dont get me wrong....he (McMichael) deserves every yr in there but yet there is a murderer on the loose right here in Salisbury near where I work! Thank goodness Judge Simpson was on board today otherwise, McMichael may have walked away with only a slap on his hand....We need more Judges like Judge S

The families of the VICTIMS agreed on the 7 year PLEA deal...ONLY and I repeat ONLY to keep the two ten year old girls from having to re-live their hell in court in front of many strangers. They never felt that 7 years was sufficient. The girls had been through enough. Thank God Judge Simpson agreed & sentenced more time without making the girls go through any more.
however he will not be in general population. he will be protected. lord knows he deserved more time. he originally had 13 felony charges. now only charges with 2? he is lucky IMO. bbeeiaattch snake cop sneaking around with little kids. KARMA gonna getcha!
I never will comprehend a criminal justice system that gives more jail time to a non-violent drug user than they do to someone who sexually or physically abuses a child.Theres people doing twenty years or more,most of them poor or minorities,for the posession of illegal drugs and this pervert freak gets SEVEN years?I challenge anyone in law enforcement to please explain how that works????At least theres some comfort-as an ex-cop and a child molester he is in the lowest stanchion of prison society.Hope he comes out with a size 9 cornhole!
