The Old Mall Is Finally Gone
This photo was taken one month ago to this date. The photo below is from the same area 30 days later.
Although I took these photos yesterday in the hopes of Posting them right away, things got quite hectic yesterday with the Council Meeting, then the Republican Club Special Guest Andy Harris and finally a meet and greet with Andy last night that ended around Midnight! So needless to say, by the time I got home, cleared out my e-mail and hit the sack, I was pooped and still am!
Nevertheless, I saw The Daily Times has similar photos and they beat me to the punch. Nevertheless, I'm working out of my Office/Home LEGALLY and I'm a Staff of one, not 200+. It's not often they'll beat me to the punch but you know what, it's tough being #1 all the time. Sometimes I just need a break. LMAO!

I also saw that ass clown Wayne Barrall had another photo in the DT...
It may be gone, but never forgotten!
The Mall has it all....including a TIF subsidy.
Good riddance.. it's about time they tore that POS hazard to the community down.
Now that the mall is down, what are going going to complain about?
What to complain about? That's easy. We can complain about our tax dollars going into the TIF for the development that may never see the light of day. Or we can complain about the big empty lot left behind. Might be a good place for the new High School, or the new Civic Center?

I think the TIF subsidy money was used to do the demolition. Taxpayers money at work. You don't think that the developers were going to use their money to do this? that's why they waited so long for the city to give them the cash hahahahaha. And now it will sit there ......an empty lot.
The TIF is not supposed to be used for the demolition. If someone wanted to get nasty and look at the books of the development corp, they may find that the TIF WAS used for the demolition. If it was, then the developers could be in a mess o' trouble.
Mike Dunn stood on TV and stated the demolition would cost about 3 million dollars. If, they did spend 3 million on the demo that leaves them 11 million to develop. Get to work boys, you owe us a development.
Who wants to make book on the property being flipped within the next year?
I have a great idea for the land where the old mall once was. It should be used for the Career and Technology Center (CTE) or Votech, if your from my generation. Kids have to fight to get into the center at Parkside High School. The space is limited, so only 20 to 25 kids get into each class. When I went to school if you wanted to go to Votech, you did. Now you have to be chosen. It's based on grades, how many kids want that class, if the teacher likes you (even though they don't come right out and tell them that) and other things. I think that any child who wants to learn a trade should be able to attend. Even if they never wind up working in that field atleast they would have a skill to fall back on. There are way to many kids that would love to go to CTE and are not accepted for whatever reason. Kids are graduating (some anyway) and have no kind of skill to get a job. It would also make a HUGE difference in the dropout rate! Many kids don't really care a lot about "school", but a hands on learning approach, such as a trade would keep some kids who are prone to dropout from doing so.
In the end we would all benefit from it. There would be more kids staying in school and it would help this area grow. More jobs for teachers and staff. More employable young adults.
After all people are complaining because of the vandalism in our area, which is probably kids, so therefore if the kids are wanting and willing to stay in school, for whatever reason and I think this is a good one...than let them!
There is plenty of room for classes and parking and whatever else is needed. Parkside DOES NOT have the room for the CTE center. You can't even find a parking space there.
It would be close to ALL the high schools. They could even offer more programs with the extra space than what they have now.
I don't see how this idea could fail!
I think someone should really look into this!
