Its their job...its not like any other cars or occupants were involved...just because he is 17 doesn't mean he shouldn't know better

It was not like the guy ran just because of the polce... he was already driving recklessy on a night when there were children out in the streets. The guy was stupid to run, as is any person to run from the police.
To say he got what he deserved may be cruel, but... at least he didnt kill anyone else.
As Joe said... teach your kids to drive responsibly. A car is not a toy.

Doesn't matter! The driver made a conscious decision to run. HE drove at high speeds. No one pushed the gas pedal down but him. One of the biggest problems with this world today is that too many people want to blame anyone other than the perpetrator for thier actions. It doesn't matter what the infraction was. The Deputy tried to stop the car. The DRIVER fled. Place the blame where the blame belongs.....with the operator of the suspect vehicle. It is a terrible shame this occurred. The family of the driver must be in some of the worst pain in thier lives. My heart goes out to them. But none of this can change the fact that the driver made a BAD decision and paid the ultimate price. The Law Enforcement Officer was doing his job and does not own one ounce of blame for the events that unfolded as a result of the bad decision made by the driver.

However, he wasn't a fleeing felon.. The "high speed" persuit was not truely justified. The officer could've gotten all the vehicle info in the begining. Then all he had to do was wait. I believe in MD arrest/citations can be made upto 1year and a day after the act.

Look, why not just eliminate the Cops all together and put up cameras everywhere then?

Let these men and women do their jobs and if they screw up they'll pay the price. Right now, (IMO) they were justified, they backed down and you know what, you pansy Idiots, did YOU ever think of what it felt like to be that Officer and go up to that CHILD for a PULSE and NOTHING was there? Do you think he's thinking, YEAH! IF you do, you're an IDIOT! That Officer, (I can guarantee you) is hurting inside at the loss of ANY child and probably has one or more at home.

So cut out the bullshit here and quit acting like a bunch of victims. They did their job, the young man made huge errors and in the end it's a lose/lose situation.
