Nothing Is Off Limits When You're Hungry
This person was picking through the trash and actually found a half eaten Twix Bar. I can't remember if I've ever eaten half of a candy bar and threw it away in my entire lifetime? Oh well, you can't beat luck!
Seriously, just because some people have come onto some bad times doesn't mean it is cool to take pics and make fun of. Take time, give them some food, talk to them, make them feel human. It only takes 5 minutes to make another person feel life is going to be ok. It is hard to get a job with no clothes to properly interview in, shower to clean in, and an address to call home. Employers can't really look past all that.
Appreciate all you have Joe! Be willing to help the less fortunate. caterina maria- not every one has the self esteem needed to help themselves......get off your computer for a minute and HELP JOE MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Wouldn't you feel better about yourself!
Sharp, if that had been a bald eagle, Joe would have fed him. Since it was only a human (probably not a Republican since he was needy) Joe can only take a photo and make fun. Joe is a religious man, is that the kind of religion any of US want? "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." You go Joe---you're a great witness! Here's hoping that YOU"RE never that hungry.
Considering the fact that I am out there every night, I have made numerous friends in the Downtown area.
Mind you, I have "never" seen the likes of Mike Dunn, Gary Comegys, Barrie Tilghman, (other that shopping for jewelry) and many others out there walking the streets at night and doing for these people.
I do slip a few bucks here and there and there are even some I deny. If someone asks kindly I respond very favorably. If someone approaches me in a threatening way, they get nothing.
salisburybud, you imply I am only making fun of these people and that couldn't be further from the truth. Join me one evening out there and allow me to show you who I know out there and what I'm willing to do to help.
worcester, you do not know how religious a man I am, how dare you challenge me that way. Again, there are very few people out there at night so I know none of you are out there doing your part as well.
Perhaps I should not walk the entire Downtown area any more and we can simply leave these photos/people out of sight, out of mind?
I will say this. Forgive me if I've made fun of anyone out there in this position? I was wrong for doing so and it will not happen again.
