Top Army General Demoted For Lavish Spending

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has demoted four-star General William E. Ward over allegations that he spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a lavish lifestyle while head of U.S. Army Africa Command (AFRICOM), Lolita Baldor of The Associated Press reports.
Ward will retire as a three-star lieutenant general, in spite of America's top military officer arguing against the demotion, and will also repay the government $82,000.

US Budget Deficit Soars In October As Government Spends Over $300 Billion In One Month

Moments ago the MTS released the final October budget report [6]. It was not pretty, although those who read our report [7]on how much debt was added - $195 billion to be precise - in the first month of the 2013 Fiscal Year will know where this is going. The US budget deficit was expected to soar after the September surplus of $75 billion, driven entirely by calendar shifts and pre-election propaganda, to -$113 billion. That was optimistic: the total amount of overspending in October was $120 billion. What is distressing is that this was well above the $98.5 billion deficit from a year ago, and confirms that the long-term trendline of ever greater spending continues. This was also the fourth largest October deficit in history. And looking merely at the spending side of the ledger, the US government's outlays in October alone were $304 billion. This is the third biggest October monthly spend for the government ever, and just why of the all time high $320.4 billion record in October 2008, when everything imploded after Lehman failure and Hank Paulson was literally dousing the monetary flames with brand new Benjamins.

October deficits across the years:

OBAMA DONOR'S CORPORATION LAYS OFF EMPLOYEES DUE TO OBAMACARE

Stryker Corporation has announced that it will close its facility in Orchard Park, New York, eliminating 96 jobs next month. It will also counter the medical device tax in Obamacare by eliminating 5% of their global workforce, an estimated 1,170 positions.

Jon Stryker is heir to the Stryker Corporation, one of the largest medical device and equipment manufacturers in the world. Stryker’s grandfather was the surgeon who invented the mobile hospital bed. The company now sells $8.3 billion worth of hospital beds, artificial joints, medical cameras, and medical software every year.

51st State?

Last week, Puerto Rico voted for the first time to become one of the United States of America – and we might not even have to add an extra star to the flag.

That's because Republican officials in Texas are considering seceding following President Obama's re-election. The treasurer of the Hardin Country Republican Party down in Texas – Peter Morrison – floated the idea of secession in his post-election newsletter writing, "Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state...Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years." Tens of thousands of Texans have also sent a petition to the White House calling for secession. And Texas Governor Rick Perry floated the idea of secession as well after President Obama was elected to his first term. I'm just wondering if there's any way we can expedite this process...

Housing Recovery Could Also Tumble Off The 'Fiscal Cliff'

If Congress drives the economy off the "fiscal cliff," wave goodbye to short sales that have helped the housing market get back on its feet.
At risk is the expiration of a provision that erases taxes on selling a home for less than what's owed to the bank.
The change would create a major new headache for the one in four homeowners who owe more than their house is worth. Now, those "underwater" sellers would have to come up with a big check for Uncle Sam to pay the tax on the difference.
That “would be a blow to the housing recovery,” said Paul Diggle, a housing economist at Capital Economics. “The increased use of short sales, rather than foreclosures, has become an important support to the recovery.”

Will People Ever Recover From BP?

After receiving all the Breaking News messages about BP paying the largest penalty in US history, just where will that money go?

Unfortunately you have to wonder, who will have their hands out? Who will actually get paid? Who decides who gets what? And ultimately, who will police all that money?

With government red tape the way it is, well, you know what's going to happen. We're probably hearing the end to all those billions of dollars and those who deserve it won't see a penny of it. Now will the MSM report it.

What's your thoughts?

Secession Petitions: Good PR But Bad Politics

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord: "Let my people go ... " – Exodus 8:1

Tens of thousands of Americans are now petitioning the White House wanting to withdraw from the union. Although peoples and regions around the world are in the process of withdrawing from debt laden, failed central governments including Scotland, Venice, Catalonia, Bavaria, Flanders and others, it won't be as easy here in the USA. While the US petitions generate great PR for the legal right of secession, this is not the way a state or people legally withdraw from the US union.

First, to secede from the federal union on their own individuals must leave the US and renounce their citizenship, a very complicated and expensive process. Second, the legal way for states to withdraw is individually, state-by-state after conducting a state secession convention very much like a state constitutional convention on 10th Amendment issues.

BP Gets Record Fine In Gulf Oil Spill

Oil giant BP has agreed to pay the largest criminal penalty in U.S. history, totaling billions of dollars, for the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, a person familiar with the deal said Thursday.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record about the deal, also said two BP PLC employees face manslaughter charges over the death of 11 people in the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that triggered the massive spill.

The person said BP will plead guilty to obstruction for lying to Congress about how much oil was pouring out of the ruptured well. The person declined to say exactly how much the fine in the billions of dollars would be.

BP Agrees To Pay Largest Criminal Penalty In US History For Gulf Spill, Source Says

The largest previous corporate criminal penalty assessed by the Department of Justice was a $1.2 billion fine imposed on drug maker Pfizer in 2009.

Is A Conservative Third Party Is A Terrible Idea?

Fiscal Cliff

While going off the "fiscal cliff" might be the only way to make the rich pay their fair share in taxes again – a bunch of unemployed struggling Americans will be forced off the cliff, too.

At the end of the year, more than 2.1 million Americans could be screwed when their extended unemployment benefits expire. Part of going off the "fiscal cliff" means that any American who's been unemployed for more than six months and is currently collecting extended unemployment benefits will stop receiving a check. As ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Sander Levin said, "We cannot forger the human cliff looming for more than two million Americans scheduled to lose their economic lifeline during the upcoming holidays." Expect Republicans to act like the Party of Scrooge and to hold these benefits hostage at the end of the year to make sure taxes on their billionaire overlords don't go up. Stay tuned.

Secession Advocates Petition White House Website To Withdraw From USA

In the wake of President Obama's re-election, thousands of Virginians and Marylanders are joining the movement to secede from America.

They're signing petitions calling for independence from the federal government.
And where do the petitions go? On the White House's "We the People" website. In essence, they're asking the president for permission to secede.
Advocates of secession say that people in all 50 states have signed petitions to withdraw from the United States of America.

Berlin Council Delays Fire Company’s Mediation Request

BERLIN -- The Berlin Fire Company (BFC) turned out in force at Tuesday’s meeting to petition the Mayor and Council to enter third-party mediation to resolve ongoing dispute and to restore the roughly $600,000 funding stripped from the fire company earlier this year.

While the council said future mediation is possible, there are a number of conditions the town wants resolved before ever sitting down at a table with BFC leadership. However, even if funding is restored, the council has hinted that things will never go back to exactly the way they were.

“That mutual trust and respect will have to be earned,” Mayor Gee Williams told BFC members, associates and supporters at Tuesday night’s meeting.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post 11-15-12

What I find amazing is that as soon as the presidential race begins, the incumbent president (I'm not being bias here - Both republicans and democrats) stop adequately doing their job for several months to run for re-election. Secrets are hidden, important events are postponed, issues such as this incident in Benghazi are dealt with later, agendas temporarily changed to please the masses, economic numbers are skewed, money is "discovered," etc. Does anybody else see anything wrong with this?! The President is voted in for 4 years, not 3 years and 9 months. The American people pay for the incumbent's travels, hospitality, security, entertainment, etc in order for him to achieve political gains. It costs the US taxpayers MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of dollars to fund the President's re-election campaign while his opponent is digging into his own pockets for his campaign. If the incumbent was adequately doing his job, in the view of the majority of the population during his tenure, don't you think that it would be unnecessary for him to run a political campaign to seek re-election? If the incumbent is so confident in what he has done then his political campaign would have simply said "if you like what you have seen in the last 4 years then vote for me. If not, vote for the other guy."

If we ever have a truly great President again; A trustworthy President with honor, dignity and respect for himself, this Nation and the American people, I feel that he (or she) would be able to run a successful campaign for a second term solely based on his previous time in office; Based on his record, not his promises. The need for an incumbent campaign would be redundant. What ever happened to the "People's president?" The president that EVERYBODY at least respected even though they didn't always share a common political agenda? Has the political divide become so great that it is impossible for a super majority of the American population to trust and support a single American leader? It is worrisome to see that the Presidential election was only separated by 2.85% of the 121 Million votes cast. What is further concerning is that 41.3% of the 207Million US Citizens eligible to vote did not bother to exercise their right to vote.

Perhaps it is time for the people of this nation to start thinking for themselves instead of a isolating themselves into a political party, race, religion or economic bracket. More importantly, perhaps it is time to start thinking about what is best for the good of the nation and not for the good of yourself alone. If gays want to get married, who are you to say no? If I want to own a gun, who are you to take away take away my 2nd amendment right? If a woman wants to abort a pregnancy resulting from a rape, who are you to torture her by saying she can't? And why should the government be deciding those rights?

We need to go back to the basis this once great country was founded upon. When people worked hard to survive and achieve success instead of sitting back and collecting a check for doing nothing. When we had no religious interference in the government. When we were guaranteed certain liberties that nobody could take away. When we ALL paid our fair share to Uncle Sam. When we respected our government because it respected us. When our soldiers were saluted and thanked by civilians. WHEN WE WERE THE GREATEST COUNTRY THAT NOBODY IN THE WORLD WOULD DARE CROSS! That's the dream we should have, the original American Dream!

Bankster-Assisted Suicide.

Spain has had enough of bankster-assisted suicide. In the last month – two homeowners facing eviction in Spain have committed suicide prompting the Spanish banking association to freeze all eviction orders in cases of "extreme hardship" for the next two months.

As one judge said, "This cannot be allowed to go on. It's a problem which has been talked about for some time. The time for talk is over and steps must be taken for something to happen." Protesters reacted to the suicide by taking to the streets and placing stickers on ATM machines that read "murderers." The police union has promised to stand by its members to who refuse to carry out an eviction. This same compassion is lacking in the United States where numerous Americans have turned to suicide instead of foreclosure. According to a recent study from the Center for Disease Control – there's a direct correlation between rising suicide rates and economic crises. And another study out of Princeton University found that for every increase of 100 foreclosures in states like Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Florida, attempted suicides increased 39%. This is a moral crisis, which deserves a moral response from our government. Yet the Republican Party and elements of the Democratic Party are committed to more austerity for working people rather than relief for working people. It's time to stop the insanity and violence of austerity. It's time to bailout the homeowners.
