The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer’s desperately dishonest attempt to exonerate disgraced former Senator Al Franken (D-MN) is filled with more than just deception and lies of omission. On moral grounds, what Mayer admits to doing to one of Franken’s accusers is beyond shameful.
Mayer actually tries to shame this woman, a longtime Democrat, as a way to make it seem as though the accuser is the villain and Franken is the victim.
Back in December, the far-left Politico published the story of this anonymous Democrat staffer (Mayer leaves out the fact she’s a Democrat) who accused Franken of forcibly attempting to kiss her in 2006 when she appeared on his failed Air America radio show.
When she refused his kiss, she says he told her, “It’s my right as an entertainer.”

Mary Ann Mendoza: Politicians Enabling Illegal Alien ‘Invasion’ Are Helping Kill Americans ‘Every Single Day’
Politicians facilitating an “invasion” of illegal immigration are “contributing to the death of every innocent American” that is killed by illegal aliens on a daily basis, said Angel Mom Mary Ann Mendoza in a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
“Every one of these congressional leaders who have done nothing to secure our border — to stop this invasion that’s been happening — they are contributing to the death of every innocent American that is happening every single day,” Mendoza declared.
Mendoza continued, “Illegal aliens affect American citizens every hour. … Americans are torn apart by illegal alien criminals every hour. They are. Either they’re killed, they’re raped, they’re assaulted, it’s a hit-and-run, or their identity is stolen. Every hour, an American is affected by illegal alien crime, and it’s growing every day as more of them come over our borders.”

Cory 'Spartacus' Booker Wants To Assault Trump; Blames Testosterone For Violent Fantasies
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) can get in line behind Joe Biden as the second 2020 presidential candidate who wants to assault President Trump.
In a Monday night appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," booker relayed a story from an Iowa campaign event where dozens of people showed up - one of whom told him to "punch Donald Trump in the face."
"Dude, that's a felony man," Booker replied, before launching into his deep seated desire to assault the president.
"Donald Trump is a guy who you understand- he hurts you and my testosterone sometimes makes me want to feel like punching him, which would be bad for this elderly, out-of-shape man that he is if I did that," said Booker," calling Trump a "physically weak specimen."
And after Booker calls Trump an "elderly, out-of-shape man," he adds that Trump is "the body shamer."
"That's his tactics and you don't beat a bully like him, fighting him on his tactics, on his terms, using his turf. He's the body shamer,he's the guy that tries to drag people in the gutter."

Bumbler, frail, feeble: Democrats lament Mueller performance before Congress
Many Democrats expressed concern on social media over Robert Mueller's performance during his testimony in front of the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday morning.
Former President Barack Obama adviser and CNN commentator David Axelrod said that Mueller "does not appear as sharp as he was" when he testified in front of Congress six years earlier.
The former special counsel is testifying about his 448-page report released in March, in which he concluded that neither the president or his campaign knowingly conspired with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election. Despite that, Mueller did not rule whether or not the president obstructed justice, following a long-standing Department of Justice guideline saying a sitting president cannot be indicted.

Black Lives Matter Leaders Travel To South Bend To Organize Residents Against Mayor Pete
“As Mayor Pete Buttigieg runs for president, Black South Benders are demanding that he not forget about home.”
A pair of seasoned, Los Angeles-based Black Lives Matter leaders recently traveled to Indiana to help local progressives organize residents against South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg as he contends for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Dr. Melina Abdullah, who leads Black Lives Matter’s L.A. chapter (BLM-LA), headlined a community meeting last Wednesday attended by the family of Eric Logan, a 54-year-old black man who was shot and killed by a white South Bend police officer on June 16. She was accompanied by Greg Akili, a former union organizer who was mentored by Cesar Chavez in the early 1970s. They “were invited to South Bend to organize” in the wake of the officer-involved shooting death, according to BLM-LA.

LIBERAL LESBIAN ‘RED PILLED’ AFTER ERICA THOMAS HATE HOAX
‘I expect to lose friends, but I don’t care’A lesbian who identified as a liberal says she has switched political affiliations after a recent leftist hate hoax.
In a lengthy thread, Twitter user Christina Andrews announced she was tired of everything from liberal support for Antifa violence to the left’s promotion of 11-year-old drag kid Desmond the Amazing.
“You know what? F**k it. I’m done. As of today, I’ve swallowed the red pill,” she wrote on Sunday.
“I’ve tried half-heartedly defending the left ever since it was obvious we were only getting half the story in the Rodney King debacle,” Andrews wrote, adding, “No more.”
Andrews says she’s grown weary of defending the “transcult” that is imposing the “sexualization of children” and “drag queen storytimes.”

Omar Explodes At Questioner: ‘Waste’ Of ‘Time’ Condemning ‘Al-Qaeda,’ ‘FGM,’ ‘Hamas’
Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) exploded at an audience member on Tuesday who asked her to condemn female genital mutilation — noting that it would be powerful if she did it — to which Omar said she was "disgusted" by the question and that it was a waste of time.
Ani Zonneveld, president of Muslims for Progressive Values, asked Omar, "Will you be able to make a statement against FGM? Because that's an issue in Detroit, and it would be really powerful if the two Muslim Congresswomen, yourself and Rashida, would make a statement on this issue."
Omar responded to the "appalling" question by saying: "Should I make a schedule? Like, does this need to be on repeat every 5 minutes? Should I be like, 'so, today I forgot to condemn Al-Qaeda, so here's the Al-Qaeda one. Today I forgot to condemn FGM so here it goes. Today I forgot to condemn Hamas so here it goes.' It is a very frustrating question that comes up."

Justice Department opens sweeping anti-trust investigation
The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a sweeping antitrust investigation of big technology companies to look at whether their online platforms have hurt competition, suppressed innovation or otherwise harmed consumers.
It comes as a growing number of lawmakers have called for stricter regulation or even breaking up of the big tech companies, which have come under intense scrutiny following a series of scandals that compromised users' privacy.
President Donald Trump also has relentlessly criticized the big tech companies by name in recent months. He frequently asserts that companies such as Facebook and Google are biased against him and conservative politicians.
The Justice Department did not identify specific companies but said the review would consider concerns raised about 'search, social media, and some retail services online' - an apparent reference to Google, Amazon, Facebook and potentially Apple.

On July 23, 2019, Kathleen Valcourt Harman passed away at the age of 92. Born in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts in 1927, Kathleen lived her life to the fullest embracing opportunities to share her opinions, spunkiness and humor until the very end. Shortly after World War II, Kathleen married Bill Harman whose family built the first area motel, the Alamo. It was here that Kathleen fell in love again, this time with the lodging industry. While her husband worked as a plumbing contractor, Kathleen operated the Miami Court while raising her sons. In 1958, the Harman’s bought a half-block on 23rd Street and the ocean and built the Ocean Mecca Motel. Eager to foster tourism, Kathleen frequently gathered other business owners to discuss issues and advocate for their rights and in 1960 they formed the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association (OCHMRA). It was later officially reorganized and she became the first President of the OCHMRA in 1971. She also served as President of the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce in 1973. She was the second recipient of the OCHMRA’s Paul Hazard Award in 1976, in honor of her dedication to hospitality. In 1996, Kathleen was one of the six female pioneers of the industry that OCHMRA named as “Steel Magnolias.” In 2017, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan declared June 30th as Kathleen Harman Day. Additionally, she was an early member of the Junior Board at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, on the original board of the Ocean City Paramedic Foundation and an original member of ECHO which eventually led to Atlantic General Hospital’s construction.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her son, Steve Harman who started the Poor Girls Open as a way for waiters and waitresses to have a fun and affordable competition and to raise money for a worthy cause. She is survived by son Stacy Harman and wife Enie, son Shawn Harman and wife Donna along with grandchildren Zack, Devon and Jesse.
Services are being planned.

Murder rate in Mexico hits an all-time high during the first half of 2019
Updated government data revealed that Mexico set a new record for homicides in the first half of the year with 17,608 killings, fueled partly by cartel and gang violence in several states.
The startling new figures released Monday showed that the first six month of 2019 were the most violent since 1997, when the country started keeping official numbers, including the peak year of Mexico's drug war in 2011.
The number of murders grew by 5.3% compared to the same period of 2018, when 16,714 people were killed.
Mexico saw 3,080 killings in June, an increase of over 8% from the same month a year ago, according to official figures. The nation of almost 125 million now sees as many as 100 killings per day nationwide.

Citizens Express Concerns Over $107K Bill For Berlin Park Cleanup
BERLIN – Citizen concerns about a chemical spill at Berlin Falls Park dominated a town council meeting this week.
Following a vote by the council to spend more than $107,000 for cleanup of the June spill, residents criticized municipal leadership for not addressing the issue sooner. They said officials should have been aware of any issues with the property when they purchased it.
“We bought this for $2.5 million and we didn’t look in one building?” resident Shaun McGowan said.
On Monday, the council voted unanimously to pay $107,524.83 to Chesapeake Environmental Services for cleanup at Berlin Falls Park following the chemical spill that occurred in late June as several old buildings in the park were being demolished. While there was no discussion at the time of the vote, the spill was the sole topic of concern voiced by citizens during the public comment portion of the meeting. When asked about the cause of the spill, Town Administrator Laura Allen said she couldn’t comment at this point.

Video shows bison tossing girl high in the air at Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park officials say a bull bison tossed a 9-year-old Florida girl into the air when the animal charged a group of about 50 tourists. Park officials say the bison rushed the group Monday after some of the tourists approached to within 5 to 10 feet of the animal over at least 20 minutes.
The Odessa, Florida, girl was taken to Old Faithful Lodge by her family for treatment by emergency personnel. She was later taken to a clinic and released.
A video of the incident appears to show a man and woman run away from the animal as the little girl is thrown high into the air by the bison.
2 years of significant delays coming to the Bay Bridge this fall
This fall, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will begin a $27 million deck rehabilitation on the westbound span of the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge (US 50/301). As part of the two-year project, the right lane of the westbound span will close 24/7 from October to April during fall 2019/spring 2020 and fall 2020/spring 2021.
“Even though traffic volumes are lowest at the bridge during these months, drivers should expect major delays, even during normal conditions, and especially during holidays, traffic incidents and inclement weather,” said MDTA Executive Director Jim Ports. “We’re asking our customers for their patience and understanding and to bear with us during this necessary work to preserve this critical connection between Maryland’s shores.”
Beginning after Labor Day and continuing through Sept. 30, the westbound right lane will be closed continuously during weekdays from 9 a.m. Mondays through 6 a.m. Fridays. The long-term 24/7 right lane closure will occur from Oct. 1, 2019, through April 16, 2020, but will be lifted temporarily during the Thanksgiving holiday. Then from April 16 through May 20, 2020, the westbound right lane again will be closed continuously during weekdays from 9 a.m. Mondays through 6 a.m. Fridays. All lanes will reopen during the summer travel season when traffic volumes significantly increase. The MDTA will repeat the same schedule during fall 2020/spring 2021.

Macy’s Pulls ‘Mom Jeans’ Plates After Tweet
Writer Alie Ward spotted the plates at Macy’s flagship Herald Square location in New York on Sunday night, and tweeted a picture.
As the “Pourtions” company celebrated their new-found moment in the spotlight on Instagram, Ward took to Twitter with her complaint. “How can I get these plates from Macy’s banned in all 50 states?” she asked. Within hours, Macy’s answered.
“Hi, Alie — we appreciate you sharing this with us and agree that we missed the mark on this product,” the company tweeted. “It will be removed from all STORY at Macy’s locations.” Later, Macy’s delivered an apology via a statement to CNN:
Pourtions countered by claiming the plates are meant to be “a light-hearted take on the important issue of portion control,” while apologizing if the design was “hurtful to anyone.”
We feel very strongly about the positive, light-hearted message conveyed by our glasses & plates. The response today has been overwhelmingly positive, including more interest in Pourtions & sales today than ever before,” President Mary Cassidy wrote in an email.
As the creators of Pourtions, we feel badly if what was meant to be a light-hearted take on the important issue of portion control was hurtful to anyone. Pourtions is intended to support healthy eating and drinking. Everyone who has appreciated Pourtions knows that it can be tough sometimes to be as mindful and moderate in our eating and drinking as we’d like, but that a gentle reminder can make a difference.

Democrats’ Equality Act Could See Repeat Of Canada’s Transgender Genital Waxing Dispute
A high-profile dispute in Canada over whether a transgender activist can force women’s waxing salons to handle male genitalia could be repeated in the United States if a Democratic bill becomes law.
The Equality Act, which the House passed in May with unanimous support from Democrats, would make “gender identity” a protected category under federal anti-discrimination laws, as it is in Canada. The bill’s text specifically states that salons would be affected under the law.
“The Equality Act, by adding ‘gender identity’ as a protected classification in federal civil rights law, could be used by activists to legally harass women who do not want to wax male private parts—regardless of whether those male private parts are attached to people who ‘identify’ as men or women,” Ryan Anderson, a senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Things Keep Getting Worse For Hate Hoaxer Erica Thomas, Especially Now That This Tweet Came To Light
Over the weekend, Georgia State Rep. and Minority Leader Erica Thomas (D) took to Twitter saying a white man called her "a lazy SOB" and that she needed to go back to where she came from because she had too many items in the express lane at the local Publix.
During Thomas' press conference, the man from the supermarket, Eric Sparkes, confronted the legislator for lying about what took place. He said he's a lifelong Democrat but Thomas was doing this for political gain. Recent Facebook posts back up Sparkes claim and show him being critical of President Donald Trump.
It looks as though this isn't Thomas' first public political plunder.

IT’S OVER: THE DEMOCRATS AND THE REPUBLICANS ARE BOTH CONSPIRING TO BANKRUPT AMERICA AND DESTROY OUR FUTURE
If the Republicans and the Democrats both don’t care about our exploding national debt there truly is no hope
Both major political parties are working together to destroy America’s financial future, and most Americans don’t seem to care.
Once upon a time, the Republicans were considered to be “the party of fiscal responsibility”, but now they are just as bad as the “free spending” Democrats. As you will see below, a “compromise” budget deal was just reached which will dramatically increase federal spending and will suspend the federal debt limit until after the next election. In other words, both sides are conspiring to make our debt problem much, much worse over the next year and a half, and this should be causing howls of outrage all across America. But instead most Americans seem content to go along with the free spending ways of our political leaders, and only a handful of voices are sounding the alarm as we steamroll toward financial oblivion.
When Barack Obama was inaugurated on January 20th, 2009, the U.S. national debt was sitting at a grand total of $10,626,877,048,913.08.

These 7 Democrats Floated Fake Russiagate Stories. Now They Get To Quiz Mueller
When Robert Mueller appears Wednesday before two congressional committees, he will face questions from at least seven Democratic lawmakers who have floated false claims about various aspects of the Russia probe, all without issuing retractions once the stories were debunked.
Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee such as Steve Cohen, Ted Lieu, and Sheila Jackson Lee have all circulated now-debunked reports that claimed former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen visited Prague during the 2016 election.
House Intelligence Committee Democrats Mike Quigley and Jackie Speier pushed the fake story that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Completed Section of Trump’s New Wall Helping Secure Border, Say Agents
Border Patrol agents insist that completed new sections of border barriers are helping them to secure the border and making the agents safer in the process. This comes on the heels of media reports inaccurately asserting that no new barriers have been constructed during the Trump Administration.
Border Patrol Agent Mike Matzke told Breitbart News, “New sections of Trump’s wall have been built and anyone claiming that a 30-foot barrier that replaced a 10-foot high sheet metal fence isn’t new barrier doesn’t know what they are talking about. The old legacy landing mat fence in our sector wasn’t effective and really bad people were jumping all day and night.”
“We’ve had people throw Molotov cocktails over the old landing mat fence and it was dangerous because we couldn’t see through it like we can with Trump’s new border barrier. Here in El Centro, we have the highest stretch of border wall on the entire Southwest border. Trump’s new wall section is 30-feet high,” Agent Matzke said.
Other Border Patrol agents discussing the matter said that the new Trump wall segment was 2.25 miles long and described it as being in the most needed area.

Suburban Homeowners Lose as MD Democrats Protect Migration Inflow
Elected officials in Maryland’s Montgomery County are trying to abolish the legal foundation for suburbia — “single-family zoning” — to better aid and encourage a massive inflow of immigrant employees, consumers, and renters.
The council’s decision is expected on Tuesday, July 23, and it is aided by friendly coverage in the local establishment media.
But local voters are protesting that their housing wealth will be de-valued by the arrival of many temporary renters, more traffic, and chaotic diversity.
The Washington Post, for example, dismissed the suburban homeowners as “the latest soldiers in a vocal, sometimes ugly war against ADUs [Auxiliary Dwelling Units], a low-cost housing option that planning experts champion as a tool for modernizing an outdated vision of suburban America.”

Jordan, Catch 23 Boat Booked For White Marlin Open
OCEAN CITY — The White Marlin Open, which returns next month for the 46thyear, naturally attracts the sportfishing heavyweights, but this year’s lineup will have even more star power with the inclusion of basketball legend Michael Jordan.
For over four decades, the White Marlin Open, deemed the largest billfish tournament in the world, has been one of the highlights of the summer season. The tournament, with more than $5 million in prize money doled out last year including a record $2.5 million to the winner in the signature white marlin division, attracts the top boats, captains and anglers from all over the world.
Over the years, more than a few celebrities have competed and been seen hanging around tournament headquarters in Harbour Island. For example, a few years back baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs fished in the tournament and was seen around the marina the entire week.
This year will see perhaps the biggest celebrity ever to compete in the tournament with the arrival of Michael Jordan and his crew on the aptly-named Catch 23. WMO officials this week confirmed the Catch 23, a 80-foot Viking, has officially entered the 2019 tournament. Indeed, a check of current entries, which by mid-week had reached 134, revealed the Catch 23, either by mere coincidence, good timing or perhaps a perfect omen, is entry number 123.

Trump Sues to Stop Release of NY State Tax Returns
WASHINGTON (CN) – Acting as a private citizen, President Donald Trump filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday to block the House Ways and Means Committee from getting his state tax returns after New York lawmakers made it easier for members of Congress to do so.
Taking issue with the TRUST Act passed by New York lawmakers in May — authorizing state tax officials to release returns filed by lawmakers and political party leaders in response to requests from three congressional committees, including the House Ways and Means Committee — the lawsuit claims the legislation directly targeted Trump.
It notes the law also requires the release of the president’s state tax returns “if the Committee has already requested the President’s federal returns from Treasury.”
“The hyper-specific condition was, not coincidentally, already satisfied for the intended target of the Act: President Trump,” according to the lawsuit, which demands a permanent block on enforcement of the TRUST Act.

Democrats Now Regret Forcing Al Franken Out Of The Senate
Six former and current Senate Democrats and one Senate Independent have expressed regret over calling for former Democratic Minnesota Sen. Al Franken’s resignation in 2017 following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
Democratic Sens. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Bill Nelson of Florida, and Tom Udall of New Mexico as well as Independent Sen. Angus King of Maine all told Jane Mayer of The New Yorker that they regretted their roles in forcing Franken out of the Senate in an article published Monday
Leahy referred to his decision to call for Franken’s resignation as “one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made” during his 45 year Senate tenure, Merkley referred to the situation as a “rush to judgement,” while King called it “the political equivalent of capital punishment.”

Troopers Arrest Felton Man for Rash of Thefts- Sussex County
Bridgeville/Greenwood – The Delaware State Police have arrested 32-year-old James M. Carey of Felton, DE in connection with multiple thefts.
The Delaware State Police began investigating a rash of ATV and lawn mower thefts between mid June 2019 and early July 2019. Over the course of three weeks, a trailer, a tow dolly, three ATV’s, four riding mowers and a push mower were stolen from yards in the Bridgeville/Greenwood area.
Through investigative measures, Carey was developed as a suspect. On July 15, 2019, Property Crimes Detectives responded to Carey’s last known address on Hills Market Road, Felton. A stolen flatbed trailer and a car dolly were recovered, however Carey was not there.
Through further investigations it was learned that Carey was staying at a residence in Federalsburg, MD. With the assistance of the Maryland State Police (Easton Barracks) and Caroline County Sherriff’s Office, a consent to search was provided and Carey was located inside the residence. Carey was taken into custody without incident.
On July 22, 2019 Carey was extradited back to Delaware where he was charged with the following:
- Theft-Felony (6 counts)
- Theft (2 counts)
- Criminal Trespass 3rd (8 counts)
Carey was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,500.00 cash only bond.

‘I Saw the Crisis at the Border with My Own Eyes -- Congress Can Fix It’
For the past few months, a number of far-left Democrats in Congress have chosen to politicize America’s border crisis rather than help President Donald J. Trump fix it.
“Earlier this month, I joined Vice President Pence and a group of Senate Republicans to see firsthand the humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border,” Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) writes for Fox News. “If the reports and rhetoric from my colleagues across the aisle were true, the facilities we toured would have been dirty and unlivable. That was not the case,” he says.
“Everyone at both of these facilities had access to food, water, hygiene items, and medical care . . . The first facility housed family units, and everyone we spoke to said they were being treated well. The second facility we visited housed single men who were apprehended crossing into our country illegally, many of whom had criminal records or had been deported previously.”

Maine and Nevada Show Why the Electoral College Helps Small States, Not Red States
Last month, both Maine and Nevada did what was in the best interests of their states: They rejected bills that would have enrolled their states in the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, an unwise effort to override the Electoral College.
In Maine, it was killed by legislators in the state House after it passed Maine’s Senate. In Nevada, Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak vetoed the bill that had been passed by members of his own party in the Legislature.
The National Popular Vote compact, which is an agreement between states, requires a participating state to award all of its electoral votes to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes across the nation, not to the candidate who actually won the vote in that state.

New York just became the first state to ban cat declawing
Animal advocates are celebrating a big win in New York. The state has become the first in the US to ban cat declawing, a painful procedure that involves removing bones — not just nails — from a cat’s paws.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an anti-declawing bill into law Monday, calling the practice “archaic,” “inhumane,” and “unnecessary.” Effective immediately, pet owners who have their cats declawed could face a fine of up to $1,000.
“This is a real triumph for cats and the people who love them,” said New York state Assembly member Linda Rosenthal, who’s been championing the bill since 2015. “This has catapulted New York to a leadership position when it comes to cruelty against felines.”
She also said the ban has important implications not just for cats but for animal welfare more broadly: “Having this bill become law indicates that New York is changing the way we view animals and our relationship with them.”

Neighbors form human chain to stop ICE from detaining man
After a multi-hour standoff between a man and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, neighbors formed a human chain to prevent him and his 12-year-old son from being detained.
The standoff began early Monday morning in Hermitage, Tennessee after the man and his son, who were in a van parked in their driveway, were blocked in by an ICE vehicle. The two refused to emerge and alerted neighbors and immigration activists who began bringing food, water, and gas to the van.
Nashville police were called by ICE, but didn’t assist with the apprehension. Rather, they stood by to “keep the peace if necessary.”

Illinois Lawmakers Push Property Tax Hikes To Fund Affordable Housing
Property taxes will go up to pay for affordable housing if legislation now pending in the General Assembly passes. It’s not styled as a property tax increase, but that’s exactly what it is. It’s styled as property tax caps or reductions for affordable housing, which would directly result in increases for homeowners and everybody else.
Two bills are pending. The first is Senate Bill 2259, sponsored by Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago). It would artificially limit increases in assessments of new or rehabilitated apartment complexes if the owner commits at least 20 percent of the building’s units to a rent cap for families that make less than a set income depending on the area. The second, House Bill 2168, goes further and would directly reduce assessments on similarly defined affordable apartments. It has nine House sponsors.
In other words, both bills would give a property tax break to owners of apartments for lower income renters. The problem is that the levy – the total amounts collected by each taxing authority – wouldn’t change. That means all other property owners pay the difference. The end result is simple and undeniable: Property owners would fund a special subsidy for affordable housing.
You’d think lawmakers had learned their lesson. In 2017, Chicago wanted a way to soften the blow of the city’s property tax increases, or at least make them look softer. Singling out the city wasn’t workable, so it got Springfield to pass increases in the homestead and senior exemptions for all of Cook County. We wrote about the dismal results for other taxpayers here, which the Chicago Tribune detailed. Other property owners got clobbered, especially in lower income areas.

Rep. Ilhan Omar Wants Taxpayer Funded Abortions for Illegal Immigrants
While the Democratic Party seems to be in complete agreement about providing free health care to illegal immigrants, freshmen Representative Ilhan Omar wants to take it a step further and throw in abortions as well.
Rep. Omar was responding to a story in Vox about how illegal immigrants are not taking care of their reproductive health over fear of being deported, yet the story begins with a tale of an illegal immigrant who went and got an abortion because she was afraid the state would take away her baby.
“In addition to people like Pablos who are deciding not to have children, doctors say many immigrants are forgoing necessary prenatal or other reproductive health care for fear that they or their families will be deported. That leads to real health disparities, from a decrease in cervical cancer screenings to an increase in labor complications,” the Vox article states.

Mexican national in US illegally is charged with causing child's death while driving without a license
NEWARK - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers have arrested a Mexican national charged by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department for causing death while driving without a license, a 3rd degree felony, July 11, 2019. Jorge Rodriguez-Saldana, 30, was driving a vehicle that struck a grandmother and her two grandchildren, killing the seven-year-old child and critically injuring the grandmother.
He was released from local custody on a summons following the incident. Law enforcement authorities in Atlantic County did not refer the case for ICE for review. On July 13, 2019, Rodriguez-Saldana was arrested by ICE-ERO Newark Officers in Horsham, Pennsylvania for immigration violations as he was in the U.S. illegally.

We will continue to make public safety our highest priority despite dangerous state policies.”
Anti-Trump Republican amplifies false claim that Fox News will not air Mueller testimony
Republican political consultant Rick Wilson, appearing Monday on MSNBC, repeated a circulating false claim that Fox News will not air special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony live.
“Fox isn’t covering the hearings,” Wilson said. “How scared they are of what could happen on this morning. It’s going to be a very interesting and consequential moment. They’re apparently not going to take them live. Everybody else is taking them live."
Wilson soon corrected himself on Twitter, writing, “I stand corrected: Fox apparently will cover the Mueller hearings. The MAGA Javerts were all aflutter.”

Ilhan Omar Marriage Flummoxes Media Fact-Checkers
The 'baseless smear' that can't be debunked
Media outlets scrambled to prove false the accusation that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) married her brother after President Donald Trump mentioned it, but none have been able to definitively reach an answer, largely due to Omar's unwillingness to provide information.
Trump was asked about the accusation that Omar's husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, was also her brother during a scrum with reporters last Wednesday and said he had heard talk that she married her brother but knew "nothing about it."
National media had largely kept away from judging the merits of the accusation that she was related to her second husband, which have circulated since her entry into politics in 2016, but after Trump's comment many came to quick conclusions. CNN's Jim Acosta jumped in immediately to criticize Trump for diving in on "disgusting lies." The Daily Beast‘s Will Sommer published a lengthy piece on Friday that did little to nothing to debunk what he calls a "baseless smear."

The Democrats’ 2020 Campaign Theme Is 'You Americans Are Terrible'
The Democrats’ 2020 theme is that you are terrible and the party’s slogan will be “Americans suck, vote for us.” The precise candidate who will employ it is not important because they all embrace the notion that punishing the essential moral failure of you and me and every other Normal American is the key goal of the Donkey Party. That goes equally for the Handsey Old Prospector, the Socialist Squaw, Crusty the Commie, Spartacus Sharpton, Starchild, the Furry, Not Ms. Willie Brown, the Unfabulous Gay Guy, and the many Unfabulous Ungay Guys.
They all agree that you are terrible because you don’t know your place, which is behind a rock pushing it endlessly uphill for the benefit of people who hate you.
Remember Animal Farm from back when you were in school and they taught it as a chilling warning about socialism instead of as a how-to manual? Remember the horse who got worked nearly to death then got sent to the glue farm?
Guess what? You’re the horse.

Courtroom Chaos: Shouting Erupts as Former Judge Dragged Out of Court After Being Sentenced to Jail
Cincinnati, Ohio – Former Juvenile Court Judge Tracie Hunter went limp and was dragged out of court by a bailiff after being sentenced to jail on Monday.
Chaos erupted in the courtroom and Hunter’s supporters began shouting as the former judge was forcibly taken out of the building.
Hunter was sentenced to 6 months in prison and one year of community service after she used her position as a judge to give her brother, who was also an employee of the juvenile court and about to be fired for allegedly striking a young offender, confidential records.
Tracie Hunter was actually convicted and found guilty in 2014 and was supposed to be sentenced in 2016, but several appeals have delayed her sentencing.

Trump Trashes 'Squad' As "Racist Group Of Troublemakers"
President Trump's ongoing effort to force 'moderate' liberals to support the most extreme leftists - somewhat tarring the entire Democratic party with the same open-borders, anti-Israel, "America's the worst" strategy - was turned up to '11' on the rhetoric scale today.
For more than a week, the president has been at the center of racism accusations after telling the group, made up of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) and Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), to “go back” to their home countries.
And this morning he continued the attacks, calling the group of minority women a “racist group of troublemakers."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has objected to nearly every single proposal from Republicans and President Donald Trump meant to alleviate the ongoing border crisis.
However, newly re-surfaced video from 2008 shows that Pelosi once supported the principles she suddenly now opposes.
"We have a couple of different issues we are talking about," Pelosi said in the video posted by Independent Women's Voice. "Do we have a commitment to secure the border? Yes."
"What are the options that we have available to us? Lets make sure they work," she explained. "Because while we need to address the issue of immigration and the challenge we have of undocumented people in our country, we certainly don't want any more coming in."

New Rulemaking Brings Significant Changes to EB-5 Program
Minimum Investments, Targeted Employment Area Designations Among Reforms
WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will publish a final rule on July 24 that makes a number of significant changes to its EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, marking the first significant revision of the program’s regulations since 1993. The final rule will become effective on Nov. 21, 2019.
New developments under the final rule include:
Under the EB-5 program, individuals are eligible to apply for conditional lawful permanent residence in the United States if they make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States and create or, in certain circumstances, preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers.
“Nearly 30 years ago, Congress created the EB-5 program to benefit U.S. workers, boost the economy, and aid distressed communities by providing an incentive for foreign capital investment in the United States,” said USCIS Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli. “Since its inception, the EB-5 program has drifted away from Congress’s intent. Our reforms increase the investment level to account for inflation over the past three decades and substantially restrict the possibility of gerrymandering to ensure that the reduced investment amount is reserved for rural and high-unemployment areas most in need. This final rule strengthens the EB-5 program by returning it to its Congressional intent.”
Major changes to EB-5 in the final rule include:

Veteran Climbs Flag Pole to Secure Loose American Flag
A veteran in Virginia Beach, Virginia, took it upon himself to climb a flag pole at a Navy SEAL monument to secure an American flag that had broken loose on Thursday.
Dom Raso, who is a former Navy SEAL, said he had just finished his morning run when he saw that the flag flying at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Navy SEAL monument was out of place.
“Flag needed to be fixed at the Navy SEAL monument this morning,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “After a 3.5 mile run and smoked from the previous attempts, This was my 4th attempt at trying to get up and fix the flag.”
“I couldn’t go by this flag this morning and not give it everything I had,” Raso wrote on Instagram. “The gold stars on this monument and the sacrifice that has been made for us all was something I wasn’t just going to pass by. This flag pole climb reminded me about EVERYTHING in life.”

Wife of Chantilly man killed by Maryland homeowner says it was a 'horrible mistake'
CHANTILLY, Va. — "It was a horrible, horrible mistake," said Joanne Espinosa, the wife of "Gary" Gerardo Alberto Espinosa, 46, of Chantilly, who was shot and killed by a homeowner in Woodbine, Maryland early Monday morning.
"Gary is the best husband, father. Wonderful person. Not violent," she said. She believes her husband went to the wrong house and thought it was their friend's house he was trying to enter.
Charles Dorsey, 56, shot and killed Espinosa as he was trying to get inside Dorsey's home, according to Howard County Police. No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident is under investigation.
Joanne Espinosa said she and her husband had gone to visit good friends who had recently moved to Maryland and were having a pool party. They planned to spend the night. She said she went to bed around midnight while her husband stayed up with two of the men.
The shooting happened around 1:00 a.m. Joanne said she did not know her husband had been killed until 7:30 when she woke up. She said she went outside and found police officers who showed her a picture of her husband taken from a doorbell video and asked if that was her husband.

Cardin: Release Asylum Seekers in 1-2 Days
Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) was among a group of Democrats who visited the Southwest border on Friday, and he said he was "disappointed" with what he saw.
"These are families that are very desperate," Cardin told "Sunday Morning Futures" with Maria Bartiromo.
"They are escaping danger in their host countries. In many cases, they were young children whose parents are concerned of their children's safety.
"So, what we saw were families that are desperate, that are trying to find a better life for themselves. And we saw people who just want to get on with their lives. It takes less than a day for the immigration people to process, from the point of view to make sure they are who they say they are, that they haven't violated laws.
"They should be released at that point, pending their asylum hearings. And that is not happening."

Arizona Dem Kyrsten Sinema joins GOP in push for program that would quickly deport migrants without valid asylum claims
Freshman Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., was one of a number of Democrats to join Republican colleagues this week who called for the implementation of a pilot program that would work to quickly identify and deport migrants at the border who are judged not to have a valid asylum claim.
Sinema, along with Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Doug Jones, D-Ala., joined Republicans in writing to President Trump urging the implementation of Operation Safe Return -- a Department of Homeland Security pilot program that that would focus on quickly identifying, processing and returning family units who do not have valid asylum claims in the U.S.
“Through this program, we expect that we can meet our commitments to humanitarian protections while ensuring proper efficiency, timeliness, order, and fairness in the credible fear screening process,” the letter said. “We also expect that Operation Safe Return will help us examine current process deficiencies, identify required increases in capacity, and understand the drivers of migration.”

Lamborn Blasts Colorado State University for Declaring Word ‘America’ Offensive
Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) hit back hard against Colorado State University’s claim that the words “America” and “American” are offensive.
Breitbart News reported last week that officials at the public Colorado State University were telling students that the words “America” and “American” were offensive. The university’s “Inclusive Language Guide” argues that the words erase other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country.”
The “Inclusive Language Guide” also asks students to avoid the label “straight” as a synonym for heterosexual because it allegedly implies that those who are not straight are “not normal” or “crooked.”
Colorado Congressman Doug Lamborn blasted Colorado State University in a tweet week, arguing that all Americans should be comfortable expressing pride in their country.

Georgia state Rep. Erica Thomas wants man arrested over alleged racist confrontation
Georgia state Rep. Erica Thomas said she wants police to charge the man who she claims told her to "go back to where you came from."
Thomas told WSB-TV about her demand that Eric Sparkes be charged after a press conference in which she said she was "not backtracking" her initial claim.
The Georgia Democrat originally claimed Friday that Sparkes had confronted her in a Publix grocery store checkout line and told her to "go back to where you came from."
Thomas appeared initially to backtrack the claim on Saturday, saying in an interview: "I don't know if he said 'go back,' or those types of words ... I don't know if he said 'go back to your country' or 'go back to where you came from,' but he was making those types of references is what I remember."

Omar Has Another Far-Fetched Opinion About Trump's Take On Minorities And Muslims
President Donald Trump has had an ongoing feud with members of "The Squad," made up for Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlabid (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA). On Friday evening, Omar, once again, responded to President Trump's claim that if "The Squad" doesn't like living in America, they are more than welcome to leave.
Omar interpreted that as Trump wanting every black and brown person in America to be deported and for Muslims to be banned.
