Take The Survey

Voting survey

The Maryland General Assembly is considering overriding Governor Hogan's common sense veto of a bill that would provide CURRENT felons with voting privileges. In Maryland, convicted felons who have COMPLETED the terms of their sentence and release can have their voting privileges restored. The General Assembly is seeking to allow CURRENT felons, who have not yet completed their sentence, the ability to vote.

Do you support providing CURRENT felons, including those on parole and who have not completed their sentences, with voting privileges?

Hillary Clinton Talks About Her Concussion

Is a Secret Sniper Killing Off ISIL's High Command in Libya?

As befits all the best practitioners of his shadowy trade, no-one is quite sure whether he is one man or many, or even simply an urban legend.

But after a string of assassinations of its local henchmen, the Islamic State's new "Caliphate" in the Libyan city of Sirte is abuzz with talk that an anti-Isil sniper is at work.

In recent weeks, no fewer than three Isil commanders in Sirte have been shot dead from long range, according to local media.

The killings - reported to be the work of a sniper who honed his skills in Libya’s uprising against Colonel Gaddafi - are said to have sowed panic among Isil's forces in the city, who have carried a string of arrests and executions in a bid to track down the culprit.

The Sirte assassin's most recent casualty, according to social media reports from Sirte, was Abdullah Hamad Al-Ansari, an Isil commander from southern Libyan city of Obari, who was shot dead on January 23 as he left a city centre mosque.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said Friday that sources have told him that the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton is “far more advanced than we the public knows.”

The Guy Who Bought the Google.com Domain Made a Pretty Penny Selling It Back

Google.com, one of the most valuable domains on the Internet, was mistakenly sold for $12 last fall.

Google paid $12,000 to get it back.

The buyer was a former Googler, Sanmay Ved, who discovered Google.com on the list of domains available for sale on September 29. He bought it, charging the $12 fee to his Discover card, never really expecting the transaction to go through.

"I was hoping I would get an error at sometime saying transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete purchase, and my credit card was actually charged!" he wrote in a post on LinkedIn last fall.

President Obama to visit mosque, hold talks with Muslim leaders

President Barack Obama plans to visit a mosque in Baltimore on Wednesday and meet with Muslim community members amid growing concern about Islamophobia and bigotry directed toward Muslim Americans.

White House officials, who announced the president’s visit to the Islamic Society of Baltimore on Saturday, said this will be Obama’s first stop at an American mosque as president. He will deliver remarks.

“The president believes that one of our nation’s greatest strengths is our rich diversity,” White House spokesman Keith Maley told the Baltimore Sun, which first reported the visit. ”As the president has said, Muslim Americans are our friends, and neighbors; our co-workers, and sports heroes — and our men and women in uniform defending our country.”

The F-35C has a top speed of nearly 1,200 mph.

Residents reported hearing loud booms and feeling the ground and buildings shake. The booms were heard as far away as Connecticut.

A state-by-state look at federal food aid work waivers

The federal government ended statewide work waivers this year for certain adults receiving aid through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, sometimes referred to as food stamps. In some cases, states were able to retain work waivers for certain counties or cities where there are higher unemployment rates and fewer available jobs.

Here’s a state-by-state look at the number of able-bodied adults ages 18 through 49 without dependents who became subject to work requirements this year because of the end of statewide waivers. In most cases, the work requirements kicked in Jan. 1. Benefits will be cut off after three months if people do not comply with the work rules or receive exemptions.

People affected: About 15,400 in six counties. Work requirements don’t apply in the rest of the counties or the city of Baltimore.

Contagious Airborne Diseases Appear in Schools Across Texas

Highly contagious airborne diseases–tuberculosis (TB) and measles–surfaced in three Texas public school districts located in different parts of the state, although officials have not identified the origins of these cases.

In Harris County, Houston Independent School District officials confirmed one case of tuberculosis at Sugar Grove Academy Middle School. The student, according to ABC-TV affiliate KTRK, was diagnosed, treated, and is recovering. The contagious airborne pulmonary infection can spread rapidly once the bacteria becomes active because an individual will manifest symptoms.

Not everyone infected exhibits tell-tale signs of the reputed lung illness if the bacteria remains dormant. Earlier this week, the school district sent its parents a letter to say they continue to monitor the situation. The middle school said potentially affected children may need to be TB tested. Those families will receive a separate letter and consent form by Feb. 1.

Obama to Speak at Baltimore Mosque Where Imam Condoned Suicide Bombings

President Obama is set to speak next week at a mosque which was led for over a decade by an Imam who justified suicide bombings in some circumstances and who helped found a mosque with ties to Al Qaeda.

The President will visit the Islamic Society of Baltimore on Wednesday and deliver remarks there, the White House confirmed on Saturday. This will be the first time the President has paid an official visit to a mosque during his seven years as President. However, Obama has toured mosques while on overseas trips.

“The president believes that one of our nation’s greatest strengths is our rich diversity,” White House spokesman Keith Maley said, confirming reports. “As the president has said, Muslim Americans are our friends, and neighbors; our co-workers, and sports heroes — and our men and women in uniform defending our country.”

Sessions: 2016 is 'THE LAST CHANCE' To Save America

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, a leading voice on trade, immigration and executive powers, is urging Americans to choose their next president carefully because 2016 "is the last chance for the American people to take back control of their government."

In a sober interview with Secrets, the Republican warned that liberal special interests, Wall Street moguls, and international media conglomerates are fast turning the United States into just another member of the European Union and that the effort is being led by a Democratic president eager to go his own way with executive orders.

"This election is different because we have pell mell erosion of law, the constitutional order, where President Obama has pushed an agenda that eviscerates the immigration legal system, and pushed this trade agreement that will commence decades of transferring American economic power to an ever-expanding international commission. It's just not going to stop" unless voters take action, he warned.

"This is the way the European Union began," he added.

Highlighting immigration and trade, Sessions urged voters to choose a candidate who will commit to killing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal with nearly a dozen Asian nations which is slated to cost 448,000 U.S. jobs, and finally make good on 30 years of promises to put an end to illegal immigration, which is costing the nation billions in welfare and undermining U.S. wages.

"I think this election is the big one. To win, Republicans need to demonstrate that they care about the average person who goes to work every day," he added.

Drug charges drastically rise in Talbot

EASTON — Drug arrests by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office increased nearly 500 percent in 2015 compared to 2014.

The sheriff’s office and the Talbot County Narcotics Task Force charged more than 250 people with drug offenses, while there were 54 charged in 2014, according to the sheriff’s office.

The rise in drug arrests comes after the county’s new sheriff, Joe Gamble, has been in office for a year. He was elected on a promise to attack the county’s drug issues, mainly the heroin scourge.

Gamble said the stats don’t mean the county had a worse drug problem in 2015 than in 2014. It previously was not a focus of enforcement, he said.

Friends, I’ve just announced that I will be running for the House of Representatives for Maryland’s 1st District. We have a long journey ahead, and I’m glad we will share it.

What follows is the speech I gave in Crisfield this morning. I chose to be in Crisfield because Andy Harris wasn’t there when he was needed most. I hope you’ll support my effort to be a Congressman who does his job for the people who sent him to Washington.

I can’t do this alone. I will need your help. Please take a moment to donate to our campaign.

Wicomico County Board Of Ed Cries The Blues Once Again

Here we go again, the Board of Ed is crying the blues once again claiming there's not enough money to give the children a good education.

A representative of the BOE said they are "one of the poorest Counties per student" in the state.

I just LOVE how these Liberals can twist words. "One of the poorest". Well, do tell us all how many OTHER Counties are poorer? Let's start with Somerset County. Then there's the question of, PER STUDENT.

Look, we are NOT in Montgomery County, PG County, Anne Arundel County and so forth and so on.

It always amazes me how things are never good enough here. I'm going to be very blunt on a couple of issues here.

ONE, if you wanted the best education for your child, why don't you move to these other Counties that does have more funding for education. Did you really believe that you'd get the BEST education here on the Shore over every County in the state? Did you ever wonder that perhaps it's the fact that you might just have poor educators/teachers here? Have they not been getting more and more money every year, yet the grade averages have not gone up?

When you take hundreds of thousands of dollars "for the children" and spend that money on Gift Cards on staff and not the children. When you spend millions of dollars on RENT over spending those millions on better Teachers, perhaps our children would get a better education.

However, instead of addressing this BEFORE they commit to being so poor, they wait until they've signed contracts on renting space they come back after the fact crying the blues there's not enough money.

Any good business person see's right through their load of crap. They should be punished for making such mistakes. They should be held accountable for spending "for the children" money on trips to restaurants and bars.

It's not about the children, ladies & gentlemen. It's about Liberals trying to trick you. They are proving unless you pay a hell of a lot more money in property taxes it's a given your child will not get a good education here.

Prove me wrong!

Today's Poll Question 1-29-16

Do you believe crime is
UP or DOWN
in Salisbury?

THE CRIMEROADS OF DELMARVA

Let me fill you in on a little secret. While we do our very best to bring you up to date information on crime on a daily basis, trust me, we're not being told everything. Quite frankly, you should be scared, even in your own homes.

While Liberals are doing their very best to try to take away your guns, Salisbury is the perfect example of how we Americans should have every right to defend ourselves.

Let's just look at the last two days.

7-11 robbed
Domino's Pizza robbed
McDonald's robbed
Shooting investigation
Shoplifting reports like there's no tomorrow
Unattended death investigation

Now this is what we KNOW. How many press releases, (seriously) have we delivered showing you all of the bank robbers who have been caught robbing all the Banks in Salisbury, ONE? He was a teenager. It seems to me Salisbury is the best place to commit a crime.

New Mayor, same Police Chief, same results. Each and every one of you need to look at the Chamber of Commerce and ALL of the businesses that continue to support and endorse the leadership you've had for the past 25 years. I mean, really, how's it working for you people?

Or perhaps now you'll realize that this is exactly the environment they want to put you in while these very same people live OUTSIDE the City of Salisbury and know that most of the crime is at night, so they are safe during the day while they're running their businesses.

You know what's really sad though. You people can't even stand up for yourselves. You sit back like little puppets and watch these special interests tear apart everything you've ever worked for your entire lives and then bitch and complain about Obama and Hillary. You sit on the fire escape and watch the world go by while all these people take every penny you've earned and laugh at you when you turn your backs and walk out the door.

"It was your election to lose", think long and hard about that because their only answer is, oh no, crime is actually down. Remember people, you actually believe them.

BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump: "I Won't Be Doing The Debate."

Donald Trump says he will not participate in the Fox News debate on Thursday.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Iowa on Tuesday, Trump said, “I’m not a fan of Megyn Kelly [one of the moderators]. I think she’s a third-rate reporter. I think she frankly is not good at what she does and I think they could do a lot better than Megyn Kelly and so I’m going to be making a decision with Fox but I probably won’t bother doing the debate.”

According to The Washington Post, Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Trump is “definitely not participating in the Fox News debate… His word is his bond.”

FBI RELEASES DRONE FOOTAGE OF LAVOY FINICUM FATAL SHOOTING IN OREGON

OREGON - In a statement, Greg Bretzing, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Oregon, described the events depicted in the video below that lead to the death of LaVoy Finicum:
As the white truck approaches the roadblock, there is a spike strip across the road but it appears Finicum missed it as he attempted to drive around the roadblock. He nearly hits an FBI agent as he maneuvers to the left. The truck gets stuck in the snowbank.

Finicum leaves the truck and steps through the snow. Agents and troopers on scene had information that Finicum and others would be armed. On at least two occasions, Finicum reaches his right hand toward a pocket on the left inside portion of his jacket. He did have a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in that pocket.

At this time, OSP troopers shot Finicum.

WBOC Continues To Prove They Have No Journalistic Integrity

WBOC once again went on the attack against Donald Trump for his decision to not participate in the upcoming Fox News Debate.

The people that were interviewed ADMITTED they wouldn't be voting for Trump anyway and they never once allowed a Trump supporter to BALANCE the story.

This is what makes me sick to my stomach with this local Liberal news station. The MAJORITY of Republican Americans support Donald Trump. So what are they trying to do, create a cult of Liberals because THEY are afraid Donald Trump makes more sense then any other Presidential candidate?

We will NOT be converted and WBOC will continue to fail. Won't it be amazing how one guy will ultimately bring them to their knees just like I did with the Daily Times.

By the way WBOC, don't think everyone isn't noticing how local businesses are no longer advertising with you. Now we get to see infomercials of dining room table pads just like grandma used to have. You're going down and you better believe I'm going to pound my chest along the way.

Police Fatally Shot 12-Year-Old Girl While Serving Eviction Papers — Her Father Is Now Charged With Homicide in Her Death

Earlier this month The Blaze reported a 12-year-old Pennsylvania girl was fatally shot by a constable serving her father an eviction notice. The girl’s father is now facing homicide charges.

Ciara Meyer, who was home from school sick that day, was standing behind her father when the constable shot him in the arm. Constable Clark Steele fired his weapon only after Ciara’s father, Donald Meyer pointed a loaded gun at Steele.

Meyer, 57, was charged Thursday for homicide and involuntary manslaughter in the killing of his daughter.

Perry County District Attorney Andrew Bender said Thursday that Meyer’s “extremely reckless actions” in pointing a rifle at Steele’s chest led to his daughter’s death.

The prosecutor said Steele shot at Meyer in self-defense and will not face charges. Meyer was already facing aggravated assault and other charges in the case when he was charged Thursday.

Back In The Day

So many young people today have no clue what we old folk had to deal with in snow storms.

Not only did we deal with much larger snow storms, they came more frequently and guess what kids, most of us had to actually have spare sets of "snow tires".

We didn't have radial all purpose tires, we had bias ply tires, which were a joke.

We also had nothing but rear wheel drive and there was no weight in the rear end.

With all due respect, when I see a 4x4 vehicle on the side of the road I can't help but laugh.

Come on Folks, would you agree the younger generations have no clue how much better they have it today when it comes to driving in the snow and inclement weather?

A Viewer Writes: Delmarva Power Usage Increases~File Complaint

Hi Joe,

I read your blog daily and thoroughly enjoy it!

I remember reading your post regarding Delmarva Power and the increase in our electric bills. However, I cannot remember the date.

Even before you posted it, I had noticed such a dramatic increase and I have since realized that DP is definitely price gouging us. I am permanently disabled and receive SSDI and am on a fixed income. My budget was $40.00 a month which was doable...In October 2015, they changed my budget to $163.00 without notice given to me! Now, January 2016's bill, they increased it to $222.00!!! I only receive $1254.00 a month Disability!!! My housing (rent) is almost $400.00; how does DP think I am able to pay this RIDICULOUS amount?? I have already received help from Shore Up for the MEAP program.

I called DP and spoke to a rep and she kept repeating to me, "The amount was increased b/c it's "Based ON USAGE."" WHAT? I have lived at my residence for 3 years...so I have previous history to compare. When I audited MY invoices against each other, believe me...the statistics do NOT add up!

I sent an email to the Department of Energy yesterday. I received an email this morning from them and they have provided me with the phone numbers and link of whom to contact.

Please share this information with the rest of your readers!

I am sending my complaint to them TODAY! Delmarva Power NEEDS to be investigated/audited by the Public Service Commission especially since they implemented a "new" billing system last January. If you remember, our first bill in 2015 was based on 43 or 45 days due to the wait time. This would affect your annual usage amount and it would NOT be accurate!!!

I hope that we can overload the Maryland Public Service Commission with enough complaints AGAINST Delmarva Power to initiate a deep and thorough Audit of their "Insufficient" and "Price Gouging" billing policies towards the residents in Wicomico County!!!

Thank you so much for ALL you do to keep us honestly informed!

(CNSNews.com) - When asked how he plans to ensure racial equality, Democratic presidential candidate and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said Monday that he decriminalized marijuana, “banned the box” for those with criminal records seeking state employment, and reduced the number of fatal police-involved shootings.

“I drove down fatal police-involved shootings to three of their four lowest years in Baltimore history, and as governor, I restored voting rights to 52,000 people. I ... decriminalized the possession of marijuana. I banned the box on people who are applying for state employment,” O’Malley said during the Democratic presidential town hall in Des Moines, Iowa on Monday.

An audience member asked, “How are you planning to ensure racial equality when your history in office contradicts your current platform to fight structural racism?”

A Viewer Writes: English Grill chicken recipe

Hi Joe

I grew up with English's Chicken and miss it greatly since Bay Country closed. I went to school with one of their grandchildren and have lost track of them. So I would like to know if anybody would have this recipe. If so would they email me or meet me in Salisbury. I know the English Family kept this recipe top secret but I surely like to have it. It would be great to have their chicken at least one more time before I leave this world. I have searched all over the internet and cannot find anything. aperdue52@hotmail.com.

Greatly appreciated

JUST IN: FBI Thwarts Mass Shooting Planned At Masonic Temple in Milwaukee

Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested a Milwaukee man who planned a mass shooting, according to a release by United States Attorney’s Office of Eastern District of Wisconsin.

Samy Mohamed Hamzeh, 23, has been charged with possessing machine guns and a silencer.

In October 2015, Hamzeh planned to travel to Jordan, enter the West Bank and conduct an attack on Israeli soldiers and citizens living in the West Bank.

Hamzeh later abandoned those plans and began to focus on conducting an attack in the United States.

During recorded conversations, Hamzeh explained that he wanted to commit a domestic act of violence on a Masonic Temple in Milwaukee.

Hamzeh had been under investigation since September 2015.

How Do Voters Really Feel This Election?

This week, NPR asked voters around the country how they are feeling about this election, and why so many tell us they are anxious or angry.

There are real issues and shifts behind that anxiety, as National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson reported on Monday, including stalled incomes, fears of terrorism and a changing country. The conversation continued on public radio stations around the country and on Facebook and Twitter.

We heard from listeners who do feel angry, and others who explained why they feel excited, disappointed or hopeful. Here are some of the responses we received:

'Don't have control'

"People feel that they don't have any control over the process. They have this overwhelming sense — whether they're on the right or the left of the spectrum — that elites are controlling the levers of power, and that they don't have a say. Whether they perceive those elites to be political or economic." — Melissa Ross, WJCT in Jacksonville

'Anxious'

"The No. 1 thing we heard was Trump. Everybody that we talked to was anxious about Trump and equal to that people were anxious about the media as it pertained to Trump. ... they were anxious about other things that Trump was exploiting, they were anxious about being disconnected from each other." — Carrie Kaufman, KNPR in Las Vegas
