I saw the news report on WBOC last night in disbelief! Hardly a day goes by where I don't hear about a shooting, stabbing, or home invasion! Heroin and other illegal drugs are out of control and it is no longer safe to go out at night to even go grocery shopping! I believe we are now in the top five cities in Maryland for crime and in the top 50 nationwide! We are up there with Detroit! I guess they figure if you tell a lie long enough, they will believe it!!

If unreported crime were in those figures Duh--Bury would be one of America's worse cities. A friend of mine who lives in the Bennett school area told me he knew of three crimes in one week that were never reported.

A few things:
talk to any local LE privately and they will tell you crime is way up
talk to any teacher, and they will tell you their classrooms have multiple problems
talk to any local social worker, and they will tell you it's a lost cause
talk to any ER staff member about what they see daily, and they will tell you crime is up
talk to any EMT about what they see on a daily basis, and they will say the same things....
Anyone who says crime is down needs to get their heads examined

11:02 is accurate, ask the ER Staff,EMT/Firemen, Dispatchers. They will give you the true facts. I hear at least 1 stabbing or shooting a day in Salisbury; if you listened to the police or fire band, you wouldn't want to be anywhere near Salisbury, especially at night.

I know people always complain about cops and teachers but honestly i wouldnt have either one of their jobs for all the money in the world. I dont know how they even sleep at night knowing the next day the have to go do it all over again and everyone hates them for doing it. But go sit in a schhol and see what goes on or listen to the scanner and tell me any one of us would go do it..cuz im sure as heck not. I wouldnt last a week before i snapped out and shot some idiot or grab somedbodys kid up.

I think it is up. They just don't do the press they used to. As one poster wrote it is all in how you code the crime. Fact city under codes. If they farm out part one crime I wonder if it ever sees a stat sheet. Those cops run all night long. So I say up.
Crime is up if you all check out the police calls daily for one week you will be shocked. We were said to be #4 in this country for 2015. There is so much information out there that points to an increase in crime in this area, it is a shame that you don't see and hear in all on the news. Check out this nations figures on murders, forced entry break-ins and assaults per each state. Years ago I was told in our Neighborhood Assoc. that the body bags weren't that bad for here, I was told that by our former Chief of Police Webster, a crock then and now.

Which of the crimes would you like the police department to prevent? And how would you like them to accomplish that?
Remember that every crime is about human behavior. Controlling that has never, ever been done, except by tyranny. Vigilance is our next best bet.

Pick up the daily times go to pages 2-3 and tell me what you see. You can't pay any attention what comes out of your city government(crime stats) or anything else. Your local so called leaders are selective in their data. Boy what ever happened tothe Colbourne Dykes type of law enforcement leader. The man had his ways but he flat out got it done. He didn't or wouldn't tolerate the city he was police chief of being such a cesspool. Again talk to the ER dept or your EMT'S its out of control. The drug problem is fueling a crime ridden city. When the opiates take control there is no rationalization to the person addicted they have to stop the sickness by any means necessary. It's a total joke to listen to the city council and mayor they are in left field thinking redeveloping downtown people will want to be exposed to the unsafe environment. Why not take that funding and go on full offense and restore what we have already, fix what you have-what you have is broken and be thankful. Don't you think we have enough vacant properties in salisbury? Didn't you already prove this with the infamous salisbury festival?? Fights gunshots etc. Again you have a city administrator that seems like he's about to come out of his skin overwhelmed, last mayor and current mayor never have or will have the city's best interest at heart. They both are using the office of mayor to TRY and pursue a spot in Annapolis.

All I see when I open the Daily Times is foreclosures. If the economy is improving it hasn't reached this area yet. Do you get the feeling that things are leaders/politicians are just putting lipstick on the pig?
crime? what crime? the crime that the college and hospital run this town? the crime that all lawyers are paid off? the crime that gov't workers and teachers get paid whether or not they perform their jobs? the crime that landlords can charge exorbitant amounts for the rent of slums? the crime that the rich and connected get richer while da bury goes down the tubes? or the crime that we are robbed by 3 different police agencies while criminals make bank and walk the streets? did I miss any?
Since Salisbury falls in Wicomico County, and residents are required to pay both city and county taxes, shouldn't Wicomico County step in and assist with crime control measures?
