MSNBC MIAMI - More than 40 children shocked with stun guns while visiting prisons in April may not have been the first ones zapped, according to a report released Tuesday.
A corrections officer told investigators she saw a similar demonstration at a prison about five years ago.
The report included hundreds of pages of documents gathered during probes ordered after the Department of Corrections learned children ages 5 to 17 had been shocked at three Florida prisons on April 23, "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day." Three employees were fired and two resigned. More than a dozen others were disciplined.

Thank Goodness for the Police
So Today as I am driving to work, my car gets a flat tire. Lucky for me I had a spare, and was taught by my father how to properly change a tire. As I pull over to the side of the road, an officer pulls over behind me ( I am in La Plata Maryland ), and helps me to change my tire, right there on the side of the road.
Officer Bagley, I salute you. It's wonderful to know there are decent human beings out there, police or civilian, who help those in need.

After Long Wait, Franken Sworn In As Senator
WASHINGTON - Al Franken became a senator on Tuesday, completing the transformation from comedian to politician.
The Minnesota Democrat's swearing-in marked the end of an eight-month political and legal struggle and drew thunderous applause in the Senate chamber. His presence gives Democrats 60 votes, enough to thwart possible Republican filibusters.
Vice President Joe Biden administered Franken's oath, slapping the former Saturday Night Live performer on the back, then embracing him in a full hug. Former Vice President Walter Mondale, a Minnesota native, accompanied Franken. Franken was introduced by fellow Minnesotan and Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar.

Today Governor Jack A. Markell joined Lewis D. Schiliro, Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security, to announce the appointment of Captain Robert M. Coupe as Superintendent of the Delaware State Police.
Col. Coupe, 46, assumes command of the State’s largest police agency following the retirement of Col. Thomas F. MacLeish. Col. Coupe, a 24-year veteran of the State Police, most recently served as the Troop 2 Criminal Investigative Unit Commander since May 2006.
“The Delaware State Police is an exceptionally good law enforcement agency. Robert Coupe has the type of leadership style and wealth of experience to put himself in the shoes of the troopers he commands and the Delawareans he serves,” Markell said. “Col. Coupe will bring great energy to this critical position, and not only is he up to the task of filling Col. MacLeish’s shoes, he is ready and able to make several strides forward in them.”
“Col. Coupe is a highly qualified and experienced leader who will honor the sacred trust bestowed upon him as the new leader of the Delaware State Police. Judge Approves "Old" GM Bankruptcy Sale To "New" GM
Late yesterday, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Gerber approved the sale of General Motors to a new corporation, which will allow the company to come out of bankruptcy as early as Thursday.
The new company will be owned by:
The United States government—a 60.8 percent stake
A trust fund (VEBA) that provides medical benefits for United Auto Workers retirees—17.5 percent
The governments of Canada and the province of Ontario—11.7 percent
Bondholders of the old GM—10 percent.
Objectors, who included people ranging from consumer groups to bondholders, failed to present a viable alternative to the bankruptcy, the judge said. He allowed a four day stay of the sale until Thursday afternoon for appeals. Friday, July 10, is the last day the U.S. Department of the Treasury has agreed to extend any loans to the old GM.

Well here's the good news Folks. If everything goes as planned, July 20th and July 21st they'll be removing the old tracks and replacing them, finally ending the horror of traveling over those nasty tracks!
My hat is tipped to the Town Council of Delmar Maryland and Delaware for finally pulling off what seemed to be an impossible task. I guess we have to thank the R/R Company but what the heck, screw them! They have delayed this for far too many years and put hundreds of thousands of vehicles through hell for far too long. It's about time they got off their A$$ and fixed this serious problem. I would think everyone who has traveled that route, (Rt. 54) would agree with me.
TRAFFIC ALERT
Closure of I-495 to Occur Wednesday, July 8 Requires Partial Southbound Lane Closures.
Wilmington -- DelDOT announces that the Delaware State Police (DSP) Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has requested a partial closure of Interstate 495 southbound just south of the Edgemoor Road Interchange (I-495, Exit 4), for Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. until approximately 11:00 a.m. The closures, involving both the right and center lanes, are necessary to enable the DSP to collect data from the scene of a serious accident that occurred on Sunday, June 28.
This planned closure is weather contingent.
DelDOT Maintenance personnel will be on hand assisting to direct traffic. Motorists are advised to expect delays, drive with caution, and to slow down within work zones, and expect delays.

Butler was charged with 2 counts of Theft over $500, 2 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Theft over $500, and Theft Scheme over $500. Butler is accused of conspiring with other store employees to steal numerous laptop computers and ipods that started in November 2008 through June 2009. Investigation is continuing. Terry Wayne Butler, 49yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested on July 1, 2009 for a Violation of a Protective Order that had just been served on him. Butler had been advised that the protective order included no contact with the victim. After the order was served and Butler escorted from his residence, Butler called the victim which violated the order. Butler was located on Pemberton Drive, arrested and transported to Central Booking where he was released. 200900023064
Steven Maurice Easley, 51yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested on July 2, 2009 at America’s Best Value Inn located on North Salisbury Blvd for 2 counts of Theft less than $100, False Statement to Police Officer, Fraud less than $500, Resist Arrest and Disturbance of Peace. Easley is accused of stealing a wallet and its contents from the innkeeper at America’s Best Value Inn. Easley then used a stolen credit card to obtain goods from the Wal-Mart fraudulently. When approached by officers upon his return to the motel, Easley gave the officers two false names at which time he was placed under arrest. During the arrest, Easley tried to pull away from officers several times and created a disturbance to the detriment of the other guests at the motel. Easley was transported to Central Booking and released.

Jamie David Orozco-Ramirez, 23yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested on July 5, 2009 in the area of Beaglin Park Dr and Middleneck Dr for 1st & 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, MDOP less than $500, MDOP greater than $500, Openly Wear & Carry a Dangerous Weapon, and 2 counts of Disorderly Intoxication. Orozco-Ramirez, who was intoxicated at the time, is accused of cutting a victim in the hand with a knife after being told to leave a residence. Upon leaving, Orozco-Ramirez then cut a vehicle tire in the parking lot causing the tire to go flat. Orozco-Ramirez was then observed by witnesses to kick a meter box on the side of a fire hydrant causing excessive damage. When located by police officers, Orozco-Ramirez was found to be in possession of a 14” knife. Orozco-Ramirez was arrested and transported to Central Booking where he was released. 200900023487
Juvenile, 14yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested on July 5, 2009 in the 1000 block of Fairground Dr for Robbery General, 2nd degree Assault, and Theft over $100. The Juvenile is accused of stealing three bicycles from the victims and then striking one of the victims in the face with a closed fist three times. Police Officers were able to locate the Juvenile in the Fairground Dr area where he was positively identified by the victims. Juvenile, 16yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested on July 6, 2009 in the area of Baptist St & E Main St for Robbery and 2nd degree Assault. The Juvenile is accused of stealing a small amount of currency from the victim as he slept in the pedestrian shelter located on Calvert St. The juvenile also struck the victim in the face with a closed fist. The victim was able to flee from the juvenile and call the police. Officers received a description of the juvenile who was located a short distance away from the scene of the assault. On July 6, 2009 at approximately 10:20 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding warrant charging the suspect with a theft that occurred on June 21, 2009. Upon arrival the officers made contact with the below listed suspect who was in the river and refused to exit. The river is posted for no swimming at that location. After an extended period of time, officers were able to remove the suspect from the river with the assistance of the Salisbury Fire Department.

On July 3, 2009 at approximately 7:15 pm, a Salisbury Animal Control Officer received a call to respond to the area of Delaware Avenue and Rose Street for the report of an injured canine in the roadway. Upon arrival the officer observed a young male pit bull with serious injuries. The canine was transported to the Johnson McKee Animal Hospital for treatment and remains under care. The canine was described as: Male, young, unaltered pit bull, white with brown markings and un cropped ears.
The Salisbury Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this canine to contact the Salisbury Police Department Animal Control office at 410-548-3165, extension # 1768.

Incident: Hit and Run Accident / DUI
Date of Incident: 5 July 2009
Location: 700 block of Booth Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Ashley Nicole White, 22, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 5 July 2009 at 8:09 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported hit and run accident where a four year old child was struck while riding a bike in the 700 block of Booth Street. With the assistance of witnesses, the deputies located the vehicle involved on an adjacent street. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle on West Road, the vehicle attempted to flee from the deputies, and even went around Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department vehicles in the roadway that were still tending to the accident. The deputies managed to get the vehicle stopped in the 800 block of East Road, at which point it was discovered the driver, Ashley Nicole White, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The deputies detected an odor of alcohol about White’s person and also observed an open container of beer in her vehicle.
At the conclusion of field sobriety tests, White was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, leaving the scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Attempting to Flee and Elude. White was transported to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, White was detained in the Detention Center by the Commissioner in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.
The four year old victim was transported by EMS to Peninsula regional Medical Center where she received treatment for her injuries.

'It's the pure and holy truth', whispers someone from behind me.
I turn around, and it's my boyfriend.
Just what I needed!!!
I am a homosexual, and on top of that with a Mexican boyfriend.
Oh, my God..... black, Jewish, disabled, gay, with a Mexican boyfriend, drug addict, and HIV-positive!!!
Desperate, I begin to shout, cry, pull my hair, and Oh, noooooo...I'm bald!!!
The telephone rings.
It's my brother.
He is saying, 'Since mom and dad died the only thing you do is hang out, take drugs, and laze around all day doing nothing. Get a job you worthless piece of crap... Any job.'
Mom?... Dad?... Nooooooooo... Now I'm also an unemployed orphan!
I try to explain to my brother how hard it is to find a job when you are black, Jewish, disabled, gay with a Mexican boyfriend, are a drug addict, HIV positive, bald, and an orphan.

At that very moment my boyfriend approaches and says to me, 'Sweetie pie, my love, my little black heart throb, have you decided what you are going to wear to Washington to see Obama.
Say it isn't so!!! I can handle being a black, disabled, one armed, drug addicted, Jewish homosexual on a pacemaker who is HIV positive, bald, orphaned, unemployed, lives in a slum, and has a Mexican boyfriend, but please, oh dear God, please don't tell me I'm a Democrat...

King Obama Strikes Again
It reminds me of the "Anti - Sedition Acts" passed by King George just before the American Revolution. These acts we designed to give the British Crown the ability to persecute and then prosecute American Patriots for speaking out against the excesses of the British Government..It makes the often vilified "Patriot Act" seem tame by comparison.
This is the scariest thing I've ever seen. Pay close attention to the wording especially anything that says "as determined by the Attorney General".
Also the bottom section regarding online activity. Folks if this passes, anyone that's attended a tea party or 9.12 project or even participated online in regards to them would be eligible for the military. Nor would they be retained in the military if already serving. Basically it could include anyone "as determined by the Attorney General" as this gives the Attorney General the ability to, at his own volition, declare any group a "Hate Group". Keep in mind the TEA PARTIES HATE HIGH TAXES AND A TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT.

‘(A) Groups or organizations that espouse or engage in acts of violence against other groups or minorities based on ideals of hate, ethnic supremacies, white supremacies, racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, or other bigotry ideologies.
‘(B) Groups or organizations engaged in criminal gang activity including drug and weapons trafficking and smuggling.
‘(C) Groups or organizations that espouse an intention or expectation of armed revolutionary activity against the United States Government, or the violent overthrow of the United States Government.
‘(D) Groups or organizations that espouse an intention or expectation of armed activity in a ‘race war’.
‘(E) Groups or organizations that encourage members to join the armed forces in order to obtain military training to be used for acts of violence against minorities, other groups, or the United States Government.
‘(F) Groups or organizations that espouse violence based on race, creed, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
‘(G) Other groups or organizations that are determined by the Attorney General to be of a violent, extremist nature.
‘(3) EVIDENCE OF ASSOCIATION OR AFFILIATION WITH HATE GROUP- The following shall constitute evidence that a person is associated or affiliated with a group associated with hate-related violence:
‘(A) Individuals possessing tattoos or other body markings indicating association or affiliation with a hate group.
‘(B) Individuals known to have attended meetings, rallies, conferences, or other activities sponsored by a hate group.
‘(C) Individuals known to be involved in online activities with a hate group, including being engaged in online discussion groups or blog or other postings that support, encourage, or affirm the group’s extremist or violent views and goals.
‘(D) Individuals who are known to have in their possession photographs, written testimonials (including diaries or journals), propaganda, or other materials indicating involvement or affiliation with a hate group. Such materials can include photographs, written materials relating to or referring to extreme hatred that are clearly not of an academic nature, possession of objects that venerate or glorify hate-inspired violence, and related materials, as determined by the Attorney General.
‘(E) Individuals espousing the intent to acquire military training for the purpose of using such training towards committing acts of violence of a purpose not affiliated with the armed forces.

Folks if this passes, anyone that's attended a tea party or 9.12 project or even participated online in regards to them would be eligible for the military. Nor would they be retained in the military if already serving. Why Is Louise Smith In Such A Rush On Health Insurance Policy?
Last night at the City Council Work Session, Louise Smith proved she is rushing for solutions referencing Health Insurance for Council Members. The big question is, why?
It has been proven that nothing can be done with "current" Council Members and quite frankly there's a ton of major issues the City is facing at this very moment and Louise Smith and Gary Comegys are chomping at the bit to remove any insurance any future Council Member might be eligible for.
Here' the problem though. We just had elections and they now have 2 years before they actually have to address what they feel is a problem. There's a $45,000,000.00 lawsuit against the Police Department no one wants to talk about. There's a $82,000,000.00 screw up at the WWTP. Louise Smith and Gary Comegys need to stop grandstanding on stupid issues and tackle the major issues at hand first.
While Gary Comegys once again attacked Debbie Campbell trying to suggest she broke the law by accepting health insurance, the guy couldn't be more stupid. He was reciting case law, (or something of the sort) clearly hand fed by the former Mayor once again but they tend to forget Shanie Shields held TWO health insurance policies, forcing the taxpayers to spend somewhere near $10,000.00 a year on her for years while she had another policy. That's closer to breaking a law than Debbie Campbell reimbursing the City for the first three years she was in Office. Get a grip Gary.
Over on the Daily Times they're already bickering about Debbie, trying to get some momentum going on this issue. One Idiot even claimed that since Debbie Campbell owns a few homes, she shouldn't be receiving Health Insurance. I'll give you ONE guess who that individual is and I'll even give you a few hints. He's over 500 pounds, lives in Section 8 housing for $35.00 a month, collects Disability and free Health Insurance and spends his day/life bashing Debbie Campbell each and every day.
Get over it Gary & Louise, we have other serious matters at hand and it's very clear what you're trying to do. They want to discourage anyone else from running for Office so they can regroup and take back seats in the next election. Oh well, it's business as usual at the GOB.

Driving For Jesus/Makin' All the Lights
Dear Grand-daughter,
The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ..
I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting...
So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.
Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.
I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed.
It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed..
I found that lots of people love Jesus!
While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!'
'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'
What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!
Everyone started honking!
I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people.
I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach.
I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air.
I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.
He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.
Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back.
My grandson burst out laughing..
Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!
A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.
I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed.
So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection.
I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared.
So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!!

Busy Day Today
While we normally have a ton of Posts up for the day, today is a busy day for Salisbury News.
We are holding meetings with different companies, preparing to launch a new Salisbury News in the very near future.
I have to be honest with you. Salisbury News was only supposed to be around long enough to get Barrie Tilghman out of Office but this Site started taking a life of its own and grew faster than we had ever dreamed.
The next thing I knew, Barrie Tilghman was gone, she lost her lawsuit against me and just when I thought I'd call it quits everyone kept asking me to keep it going. One of the biggest sellers that changed my mind was the Salvation Army, Brooke Mulford and Chuck Campbell, (for starters). I realized the wonderful things Salisbury News could do for those in need, so I chose to keep it going.
Advertisers continue to line up, so we're going to the next level, we have to. That being said, today we're holding meetings to see just how serious these advertisers are as well as parties interested in Salisbury News.
So while things may be a bit slow today, we'll do our very best to keep things flowing and we apologize in advance for the unusual slow down. We'll be back to normal by this afternoon.

City Of Salisbury CLOSED Work Session?
Hmmmmmm, I wonder what it could have been about???????
Let's see, we have to wait outside council chambers while the "Closed Session" is going on. I waited for 1 hour longer than it was supposed to be and look who comes walking out of the "Closed Session."
I smell the litigation of a huge lawsuit but it was a "Closed Session" so I wouldn't actually know! What do YOU think happened. Remember, this is all speculation and since it was a "Closed Session" YOU wouldn't know either, right?
The Economics professor
An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.
The Priest And The Rabbi
A priest and a rabbi were sitting next to each other on an airplane.
After a while, the priest turned to the rabbi and asked, "Is it still a requirement of your faith that you not eat pork?"
The rabbi responded, "Yes, that is still one of our laws."
The priest then asked, "Have you ever eaten pork?"
To which the rabbi replied, "Yes, on one occasion I did succumb to temptation and tasted a ham sandwich.."
The priest nodded in understanding and went on with his reading.
A while later, the rabbi spoke up and asked the priest, "Father, is it still a requirement of your church that you remain celibate?"
The priest replied, "Yes, that is still very much a part of our faith."
The rabbi then asked him, "Father, have you ever fallen to the temptations of the flesh?"
The priest replied, "Yes, rabbi, on one occasion I was weak and broke with my faith."
The rabbi nodded understandingly and remained silent, thinking, for about five minutes.
Finally, the rabbi said, "Beats the hell out of a ham sandwich, doesn't it?"

A Message From Wicomico Eastside Chamber Of Commerce President Bob Harris
Independence Day is a time for reflection. A time to put away our petty differences and remember the sacrifices made by so many over 200 years ago to assure that the foundation of a free nation could be laid for future generations. We are among those generations as are our children. It is incumbent upon us to teach our children that our flag is the symbol of freedom recognized around the world and that the cost of our independence was paid for by the lives of sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters, and should not be taken lightly. We're Americans first and foremost.
In honor of this, and as a tribute to our nation and our forefathers, The Wicomico Eastside Chamber of Commerce sponsored the 2nd annual Independence Day Celebration at the Willards Elementary School. It was once again a success and stands to serve as a shining example of what can be accomplished when a community pulls together.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following people without whom this event would not have been possible:
All of those members of the Wicomico Eastside Chamber of Commerce who donated so generously during this incredibly tough economy.

Trolley Square Streetscape Improvements To Begin Monday, July 13
Wilmington -- The Department of Transportation announces that Grassbusters Landscaping Company Inc. as the low bidder to rehabilitate the sidewalks along Gilpin Avenue and Dupont Street within the city of Wilmington. For this project, the Newark, Delaware based firm submitted a bid of $413,294.00 the lower of two bids received.
The streetscape enhancements include sidewalk improvements, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb and curb ramp upgrades, brick crosswalks, lighting and minor landscaping.
The 174-calendar day project will begin on Monday, July 13. The hours of construction will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

Politician Calls Michael Jackson A 'Pedophile'
In an attempt to raise awareness about the unrecognized efforts of U.S. teachers, police officers, veterans and volunteers, New York congressman Peter King decided to rip Michael Jackson apart in his latest YouTube video. King takes a swift jab at society for putting Jackson on a pedestal, calling the singer a "low life" and "child molester."
"There is nothing good about this guy. He may have been a good singer and did some dancing, but the bottom line is would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room as Michael Jackson?" King said.

7 US Troops Killed In Afghanistan
KABUL (July 6) - Bombs and bullets killed seven American troops on Monday, the deadliest day for U.S. forces in Afghanistan in nearly a year — and a sign that the war being fought in the Taliban heartland of the south and east could now be expanding north.

Location: 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Amadou NMN Samb, 39, Salisbury, MD
Narrative: On 2 July 2009 at 3:22 PM, a deputy responded to an apartment building in the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive for the report of two young children left home alone. Upon the deputy’s arrival, it was discovered that the building maintenance man had knocked on the door to one of the apartments and discovered a five and three year old home alone. During the ensuing investigation, the deputy discovered the children’s father had left the residence earlier in the afternoon, well aware that the two children were going to be by themselves. The parents of the children returned home while the deputy was present.
The father, Amadou Samb, was arrested by the deputy and transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Samb was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.

Jackson's Mom Loses Control Of Estate
A judge said Monday that Michael Jackson's longtime attorney and a family friend should take over the pop singer's estate for now, rejecting a request from Jackson's mother to be put in charge.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff backed attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, who had been designated in Jackson's 2002 will as the people he wanted to administer his estate. Attorneys for the pop singer's mother repeatedly objected to their appointment at Monday's court hearing.
Jackson died June 25, deeply in debt. But a court filing estimates that his estate will be worth more than $500 million. His assets are destined for a private trust.
The singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, had applied to oversee her son's estate, but that was before the will surfaced. Her attorney, Burt Levitch, expressed concerns about McClain and Branca's financial leadership.
Levitch told Beckloff that Branca had previously been removed from financial positions of authority by Jackson. Branca's attorney says he was rehired by Jackson on June 17, days before Jackson's death.
Teddy Bears Found Stuffed With $33 Million In Heroin
The teddy bears may have looked cuddly and sweet, but what cops found stuffed inside was a bitter pill to swallow. Drug Enforcement Administration officials busted a crew of drug dealers who were smuggling heroin using the popular Build-A-Bear toys. The drug bust at an apartment in the Bronx in New York City turned up a bunch of the toys stuffed with about 33 pounds of heroin. The drugs, marked with names like Swine Flu, Crime 360 and Barack Obama, were valued at about $33 million.
Twelve people were arrested after a three-month invesigation. The drug dealers had stuffed square-inch dime bags of heroin in the bears so they could be transported without being detected. Neighbors who lived in the building expressed surprise that the apartment was being used for drugs.

Disney Investigates Fatal Monorail Crash
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (July 6) - Officials at Walt Disney World Resort were investigating what caused the first fatal accident in the 38-year history of the park's Monorail, a one-time symbol of founder Walt Disney's vision for future transportation.
One of the monorail trains crashed into another early Sunday in the park's Magic Kingdom section, killing one of the train's operators, emergency officials said.

On July 1, 2009 at approximately 11:07 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Royal Farms Store on South Division St. for the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival the officers met with a store employee who advised that he had been robbed at gunpoint by a single suspect. The employee advised that the suspect had entered the store and produced the handgun moving toward the cash register area. The suspect emptied the cash register then fled from the store on foot. Deputies of the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the store and stopped the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle the deputies found that the driver matched the suspect description. The suspect was positively identified as the suspect that robbed the store. The Salisbury Police were also assisted by the Maryland State Police in this robbery. The stolen property was recovered.

On July 1, 2009 at approximately 11:54 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to the Hardees Restaurant on South Salisbury Boulevard for the report of a robbery. Upon arrival the officers met with an employee who advised that he had been robbed at gunpoint by a suspect in a vehicle as the employee operated the drive through window. The employee advised that the suspect had produced a handgun and demanded the cash drawer from the cash register. A witness provided a description of a suspect vehicle which was located and stopped on South Division Street. The investigation of this incident revealed that the Hardees employee, the below listed suspect, was a willing participant in the theft of U.S. Currency from the restaurant with the suspect in the vehicle. The suspect in the vehicle has been identified and arrest warrants by the Salisbury Police are pending.

Salisbury Mayor James Ireton, Jr., is pleased to announce that five police officers from the Salisbury Police Department have recently won awards in recognition of their contributions to the Salisbury community.
Officer Kenneth D. Wilson received the Maryland Municipal League (MML) Police Executive Association’s 21st annual “TOP COP” award. The award was presented to Officer Wilson by Governor Martin O’Malley, along with Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler, at the Maryland Municipal Police Executives Association meeting in Ocean City on June 30, 2009. Officer Wilson was selected as the “2009 Municipal TOP COP” in recognition of his dedication and commitment to serving the citizens of Salisbury.
Four Salisbury Police officers received Wicomico EXILE Achievement Awards – Corporal Jason King, Detective Dan Parsons, Officer Troy Underwood and Officer Chad Crockett. The awards were presented to these officers by United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein and Asst. SPD Press Releases That Just Popped Up From Last Month?
On June 8, 2009 at approximately 11:30 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police were in the area of the Royal Farm Store on South Division Street and observed two (2) subjects flee out of the front door and to the rear of the business. The officer, and responding officers pursued the suspects without success. A contact with the business revealed that the two (2) subjects had robbed the business by firearm just prior to the arrival of the officer. Employees of the Royal Farm Store advised that the two (2) suspects had entered the business and had produced firearms. The suspects ordered the store employees to place the U.S. Currency from the cash register into a bag and then fled from the business. There were no injuries. During the pursuit of the suspects, the officers found and recovered the two (2) firearms, clothing utilized by the suspects and the U.S. Currency taken from the store. The suspects were described as:
1. Black male, 5’07 to 5’08”, thin, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and a black facial mask
2. Black male, 6’02” to 6’03”, thin, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and a blue bandanna over his face
One of the clothing items recovered during the pursuit of the suspects was a black hooded sweatshirt with the name “Alexander IV” on the front in white lettering and additional writing on the rear of the sweatshirt. See attached photographs of the sweatshirt.

Wilson Junior Dormer, 50yoa of Salisbury, MD was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault, Wear and Carry a Handgun, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Marihuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On June 11, 2009 officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to the area of Baptist St and E Market St in reference to an assault. Officers met with a victim and witness. It was determined that an altercation occurred between Dormer and the victim resulting in injuries to the victim. The victim was later transported to PRMC/ER for treatment. A description of the suspect was obtained and broadcast to other responding officers. The suspect was located on Mill St near U.S. Rt 50 along with a second subject, identified as Roderick Raphael Gordon, 33yoa of Salisbury, MD. Both subjects were stopped and advised of the incident that was being investigated. Wanted checks were conducted on both subjects. Gordon was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant from Somerset County, MD for Failure to Appear and Dorman was wanted in Minnesota for an unspecified crime. The witness was transported to the scene where the witness made a positive identification of Dormer being involved in the assault of the victim. Search of Dorman incident to his arrest found a loaded .357 magnum caliber handgun in his backpack as well as a quantity of ammunition. A quantity of suspected marihuana and a smoking device were also located on Dormer. Dormer and Gordon were both released to the custody of Central Booking.
On June 8, 2009 at approximately 9:02 pm, Officers of the Salisbury Police arrested the below listed suspect on an outstanding warrant obtained by Detectives from the Wicomico Co. Child Advocacy Center. The investigation of the suspect revealed that between October of 2007 and April of 2009 the suspect sexually assaulted a female juvenile at various locations within Wicomico County. The suspect was known to the victim’s family.

Bogus Alarm Company Representatives Going Door-To-Door

SALISBURY — Alarm Engineering Inc. is warning people of reports of fake alarm salespeople who have allegedly been going door-to-door.
Some have allegedly implied or led customers to believe they are from Alarm Engineering and/or GE Security, and are visiting customer's homes to install their "free alarm system upgrade."
These people do not work for either company.
Still, the alleged scammers have attempted to get customers to sign contracts and reveal account passwords, ID numbers, and social security numbers.
Alarm Engineering has found that the company these people work for is not licensed in his jurisdiction.
Law enforcement officials are asking anyone who may have come in contact with these people to call them immediately.
Also, do not give them any personal information. Ask for credentials and identification.

Newark -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that motorists will encounter daytime lane closures beginning on Monday, July 13 and ending mid-September for the repaving of three roadways in Newark. These closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekends may be used as a make up day. This project is funded through President Obama's landmark American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA). This project and other ARRA projects are revitalizing Delaware's economy by preserving and creating jobs.
This pavement and rehabilitation project will impact these locations:
Monday, July 13 through Friday, August 14
* Main Street in Newark from railroad crossing tracks to the Maryland state line
* New London Road from Covered Bridge Lane to the Maryland state line

Motorists can expect delays and lane closures from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday work hours may also occur to make up time for inclement weather or other delays. Construction is expected to be completed within 45 calendar days, pending weather. The contractor submitted a bid of $1.4 million, the lowest of six bids received.

I don't think it has occurred to the divine ones that the administration now is at odds with the sort of ideology and attitudes Obama himself espoused on the campaign trail.
They call for patience and for confidence in Iraq — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss our chances while demanding a strict and rather rapid timetable to get out.
They ask for understanding about renditions, tribunals, Guantanamo, intercepts, wiretaps, and Predator missile attacks as complex issues — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss these necessary tools as Constitution-shredding authoritarianism.
They ask for patience on jobs — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, pontificate about a "jobless recovery" when jobs and growth were far better.
They reassure us that missile defense is insurance against North Korean lunacy — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss such investment as needless militaristic provocation.
They ask for latitude about the definition of what is a tax, what defines unemployment, and how we calibrate deficits — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, blast obfuscation while promising "transparency."
They reassure that their planted questions, the favoritism shown some journalists, the refusal to release White House visit logs, and the arbitrary firing of inconvenient auditors are nothing new — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, charge government intimidation and suppression of thought.
They ignore corruption in the Democratic-controlled Congress, cater to lobbyists, are not bothered by the tax improprieties of their major cabinet appointments — and do not, in prior Obama-like fashion, demand an end to executive malfeasance.
I know this is old-story politics, but two things are different. One, never has the gap between pre-presidential and in-office behavior been so wide (heaven and earth really are quite distant), and, two, the past promises of utopia have so conditioned a mesmerized media that they don't realize their own complacency in allowing an administration to use whatever means they chose for professedly exalted ends.
This is a strange time, when we are borrowing into oblivion, redefining 60 years of bilateral foreign policy, embarking on unproven — but costly — environmentalism, nationalizing industry and health care, and gleefully establishing a veritable state-sanctioned, pro-government media on the lines Americans used to be terrified about.

I don't think it has occurred to the divine ones that the administration now is at odds with the sort of ideology and attitudes Obama himself espoused on the campaign trail.
They call for patience and for confidence in Iraq — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss our chances while demanding a strict and rather rapid timetable to get out.
They ask for understanding about renditions, tribunals, Guantanamo, intercepts, wiretaps, and Predator missile attacks as complex issues — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss these necessary tools as Constitution-shredding authoritarianism.
They ask for patience on jobs — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, pontificate about a "jobless recovery" when jobs and growth were far better.
They reassure us that missile defense is insurance against North Korean lunacy — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, dismiss such investment as needless militaristic provocation.
They ask for latitude about the definition of what is a tax, what defines unemployment, and how we calibrate deficits — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, blast obfuscation while promising "transparency."
They reassure that their planted questions, the favoritism shown some journalists, the refusal to release White House visit logs, and the arbitrary firing of inconvenient auditors are nothing new — and not, in prior Obama-like fashion, charge government intimidation and suppression of thought.
They ignore corruption in the Democratic-controlled Congress, cater to lobbyists, are not bothered by the tax improprieties of their major cabinet appointments — and do not, in prior Obama-like fashion, demand an end to executive malfeasance.
I know this is old-story politics, but two things are different. One, never has the gap between pre-presidential and in-office behavior been so wide (heaven and earth really are quite distant), and, two, the past promises of utopia have so conditioned a mesmerized media that they don't realize their own complacency in allowing an administration to use whatever means they chose for professedly exalted ends.
This is a strange time, when we are borrowing into oblivion, redefining 60 years of bilateral foreign policy, embarking on unproven — but costly — environmentalism, nationalizing industry and health care, and gleefully establishing a veritable state-sanctioned, pro-government media on the lines Americans used to be terrified about.

Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Dealing With Evictions?
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Department is so overwhelmed right now it isn't funny. How does one Department handle all those Warrants and then go to 100 homes this month and evict 100 Families. There's just not enough manpower to handle the load.
One thing that seems to be forgotten is the cost of the property owners. Not only have they been out their fair share of rent for at least two months before they can get the eviction, they have mortgages too. So now there are 100 Landlords out at least two months rent and they'll probably have to do extensive work inside these properties to get them rent able once again.
Then there's the Banks that are short their mortgage payments. The Obamanomics is starting to trickle down and just like I have told all of you for many months now, this thing isn't anywhere near over!
We are headed into a deep depression and Obama and his Administration is failing America. I don't want to hear the old, give him more time crap! Paving roads, when Bridges are in disrepair all across America, isn't going to save the economy.
Finally, think about this for a minute. There are 100 Families being thrown out of their homes as we know it right now. Where are 100 Families going to go? Mind you, this is just in Wicomico County! This is NOT good Folks!
Robbery Suspect Sought
Location of Incident: 7-11 2010 Limestone Road, north of Stanton, New Castle, DE
Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday July 4, 2009 on or about 2350 hours
Suspect(s): White male possibly Hispanic 23-28 years-old, 5'9''-5'10'', 170 lbs, short brown hair, wearing a dark gray sweatshirt hoodie, blue jeans, and white sneakers
Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery which occurred at a Stanton convenience store.
The robbery occurred on Saturday evening July 4th just before midnight when the suspect entered the 7-11 and approached the clerk. The suspect had his hand inside his sweatshirt pocket when the clerk asked the suspect to remove it from the pocket. At that point the suspect pulled out a handgun and struck the victim on the side of the face. The suspect reached over the counter and removed money from the cash drawer before fleeing on foot.
The victim sustained some swelling on the side of the face as a result of the assault.
While troopers were at the scene a pizza delivery driver entered the store and advised he had been robbed on Windemere Lane, which is across from Stanton Middle School and less than a mile for the store. New Castle County Police are investigating that robbery, however, the pizza delivery driver gave a description that was very similar to the suspect involved in the 7-11 robbery.

CITY TELEPHONE SYSTEM VOICEMAIL NON-OPERATIONAL FOR SELECT DEPARTMENTS
The City of Salisbury’s voicemail system is currently not working for the departments located in the City/County Government Office Building. Those departments include – Mayor’s Office, Community Development, City Clerk, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement/Parking, Building Permits & Inspections, and the Public Works Administration and Engineering Division.
City departments not located in the City/Council Government Office Building have functioning voicemail. These departments include – Police Department, Fire Department, Neighborhood Services & Code Compliance, and all other Public Works Divisions (except Administration and Engineering).
ALL City departments are able to receive and make phone calls; however, callers will not be able to leave a voicemail for the specific departments located in the City/County Government Office Building.
We anticipate the voicemail system to be working by the end of the week.
