I think it is an admirable symbol of the native americans ..I wish my picture was a symbol of a a football team. Of course we don't want o hurt anyone's feelings or they will protest and start killing people like BLM or ANTIFA.
Well one is a series of currency paying homage to Native American culture and traditions and the other is a caricature of a Native American used as a mascot for a sports team. It is hardly "honoring" Native Americans when you do things like "TeePee Talk" and use a symbol to represent them as savage brutes only. Perhaps white people should actually listen to the people it's depicting?
I can't imagine suddenly having some stake in a fictitious character. Notice how only white people are outraged? I thought you we were all supposed to boycott the NFL?
It seems the sensitive folks (non Native Americans) have the FEELINGS and OPINIONS what is or isn't offensive these days - not to mention right/wrong as long as it fits their agenda.
They pressure businesses with saying they will not buy products, etc., etc., to force change.
Opinions, feelings and fear are and probably will remain the order of the day. Just look around, hows that working for our nation of Americans?
This has gotten way out of hand. WHO makes these determinations of what is deemed offense and what is not? I wasn't asked. WHY are the American people giving into this? Why wasn't anything done when there was a black president? Try as they might, they might be able to destroy the flag, statues, etc., but nobody can change history. Why are WE paying for the 'sins' of those generations of years ago? Thought this segregation issue was resolved and tolerable to ALL....and now the American people have to give into anyone that is black, or if you don't, then YOU are racist? The changing of sports names is totally and completely wrong. Where is the line? Food names, labels, statues, names....disrespecting the flag and the National Anthem. I shudder to think what could be next.
No. But it's a mute point as I won't be watching sports any longer. They are political statements for blacks. Not something to watch and enjoy and forget about the mess going on. If it was me, I'd put a potato on the helmet and still call them the Redskins just to anger everyone against him.
The people that have control of our media may be American citizens but they are taking their orders either from the NWO or CCP. Other than the election of President Trump we the people have surrendered our country to people who want our great nation destroyed. From the idiot Bubba wallace to the Red Skins they control the narrative and therefore are able to shape public opinion of low IQ individuals who are incapable of thinking for themselves.
838 dont waste your time here. Its 100% obvious, whether one agrees or disagrees, that the issue boils down to what you stated and the term "Redskin". These folks here know that but wamt you to waste your time and energy on their lie (acting as if its the logo). Dont play along. Let dumb dogs lie
Neither the nickel or the team logo are offensive; they both serve to honor and commemorate Indians, aka Native Americans. It's a big deal to be represented on coinage or currency of any nation, and the coins depicted trade at a premium to face value.
Regarding the sports team, most of those with their loincloths in a twist have about as much Indian blood as Fauxahontas, or less. Sports team names are chosen to project positive attributes the team can hopefully emulate. So it was with the DC team's name. Hope Snyder hangs tough against the pressure.
Related note: Nike was a Greek goddess. Wonder how those of Greek descent feel about having one of their historical religious deities culturally appropriated and co-opted by a money hungry operation that exploits poor blacks as customers for its semi-slave labor produced products?
One need not look far in order to find a molehill of some sort that can be imagined as a mountain to gripe and whine about. The team name issue in this case and all the others preceding it is just that, a meaningless molehill!
I don't care. Not watching anymore Sports. Let them go bankrupt. I'm saving my money. Besides. They aren't that entertaining for the price they charge.
Said nickels were referred to as the Buffalo nickel back in the day (last minted 1937 for the youngin out there)
Its been the jefferson nickel since.
In 2003 the mint redesigned the nickel for 3 years commemorating the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 200 years prior. The 2005 edition included a design of the American Bison (buffalo) on the back - which remains in circulation today.
Likewise once in while a gray beard will find an old buffalo nickel and unknowingly use it to pay for whatever. Thus a nice find when someone else gets it in their change.
Point after this historical lesson - ZERO for you putz. Keep hatin and we will keep laughing....AT YOU!
Maybe a good bourbon can turn that frown upside down. Stay away from the bottom shelf crap, makes people just hate!
So 15 ppl sign a petition and now it's important? How about we have 15 ppl sign a petition against all the BLM crime and rioting and see how that goes.
The Native Indians are not offended by the Redskins name. The ones offended are the Democrats and Hollyweirdos. Just keep the hatred going. They are on a mission.
In my humble opinion a real engine should chime in on this earth shattering, life altering event. Presidential wanna be where are you? Come on man, Elizabeth is mine.
and when there are no more sports teams named in honor of native americans they will cry that team owners are racist because there are no teams named in honor of native americans...you can`t please people who don`t know what the hell they want.
1131 maybe you should google before you comment, or at least READ the comment. He said GOLD coin, which the mint had recently issued with:-)th the same Indian design.
Its like if they put Jake Day as a symbolism of something around here and some people just loved it and it went for years, those truly affected by his poor choices would abhor it.
The Redskins logo was made by a Native American. They are a proud people, if they take offense the issue is the team hasn't been good since the 90's. Not because they feel the image of a real Native American is something that should be forgotten, hidden and repressed like their people have.
Keep the same symbol and logo, and change the name to The Washington Nickels. They have not been worth five cents anyway, and of course a nickel is in fact change.
I just found out the new name of the Washington Redskins Football Team! THey have been renamed "The Washington Deadskins!" They are dead to me now! LOL
I am Native American and never found the name Washington Redskins offensive. I was proud of my heritage and the image of an indian used to represent the football team shows nothing less than strength. Dan Snyder could of kept the name if he had offered to financially support Native American programs but he caved to the left wing. Too bad, He is going to lose alot of fans for his weakness.
I've been to a many of redskins games. I saw black and white wearing Redskins gear cheering them on. Name didn't bother anyone until white liberals decided it was offensive.

They don't make the buffalo coin anymore dummy.
I believe the name is a “ badge of honor” to native Americans.
I think it is an admirable symbol of the native americans ..I wish my picture was a symbol of a a football team. Of course we don't want o hurt anyone's feelings or they will protest and start killing people like BLM or ANTIFA.
I think the NFL is offensive.
Hail no. It's an honor.

It’s only offensive when it meets someone’s agenda.
This is amazing because it illustrates how you're part of the problem if you can't understand it
I can't imagine suddenly having some stake in a fictitious character. Notice how only white people are outraged? I thought you we were all supposed to boycott the NFL?
Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you're right
Yes, have you seen them play, that name should never be mentioned
NO!
It’s only offensive to the sensitive crowd😂😂
No I don't.

Yeah, exactly.
Very Sad - indeed.
No
Excellent Point !
I do not see it offensive along with all other things. This chit has gone too far long ago. Don’t even get me started
The name isn't truly offensive.
The team that has been on the field is offensive.
Change the name to Stinko's but as long as they win - the stadium would be packed ALL the time.
Snyder hasn't understood that at all - he's made money, but there is no longer a fan base.
21+ years and the stadium has had seats removed, covered and empty with home fans last year. Visitors outnumbered home fans.
Steve Bisciotti know exactly what to do and appreciates the fan base. Why? THEY HAVE THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, I'm part indian and been rooting for them since 1950's

This country has been over run by Pussies
and THAT is offensive to me!
Redskins is Not offensive unless you don't like redskin potatoes. Mercy, what shall we call those potatoes now?
The people that have control of our media may be American citizens but they are taking their orders either from the NWO or CCP. I guess the Atlanta Braves are next. Good luck. See you at the Big Horn.
@ 8:03, yes they do still make the Indian head coin. It is available in gold as a collector coin for purchase from the US Mint.
Fighting Irish?

To quote Homer Simpson, "Just because I understand doesn't mean I care."
ok 803..you must wait to pounce everyday.

Black National Anthem coming soon.
Had no clue.
Here I thought and was TAUGHT there was only one National Anthem of our United States of America!
Silly me to think.
Sounds logical to me...lol!
The league has been hijacked. I hope the new fan base can support it. They've screwed their true customers for the last time
The Native Indians are not offended by the Redskins name. The ones offended are the Democrats and Hollyweirdos. Just keep the hatred going. They are on a mission.
Don’t want my photo associated with such criminals. They don’t call it NFL for nothing. National Felony League

509 - was talking about nickels in regular circulation - Gold nickels are in mint sets, which are very nice!
All is good!
Did we ask the Indians? Duh. Its like glamorizing the mafia. Using its image to promote culture or product. A lot if not most Italians don't like it.
Its like if they put Jake Day as a symbolism of something around here and some people just loved it and it went for years, those truly affected by his poor choices would abhor it.

These "Native Americans" weren't the first ones here either.
>>>Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you're right<<<
And just because you are a posturing busybody, it doesn't make you right, either.
Hail to the Redwolves!
Bars should start promoting Canadian football instead of the NFL and hopefully the XFL will be back
It's the same exact picture. Did the Redskins steal it from the Federal Government.
Europeans were here 700 years before them but either way America was purchased and then conquered
Keep the same symbol and logo, and change the name to The Washington Nickels. They have not been worth five cents anyway, and of course a nickel is in fact change.

I finally figured out what the letters "NFL" stand for. "No Friends Left"
One image is on the money. The other is being used to make money. A LOT of money.
There is the difference. There is the exploitation.
It's very, very simple.
Ice hockey for me.
A rose by any other name is still a rose.
I've been to a many of redskins games. I saw black and white wearing Redskins gear cheering them on. Name didn't bother anyone until white liberals decided it was offensive.
