I believe the name is a “ badge of honor” to native Americans.
I think it is an admirable symbol of the native americans ..I wish my picture was a symbol of a a football team. Of course we don't want o hurt anyone's feelings or they will protest and start killing people like BLM or ANTIFA.

Well one is a series of currency paying homage to Native American culture and traditions and the other is a caricature of a Native American used as a mascot for a sports team. It is hardly "honoring" Native Americans when you do things like "TeePee Talk" and use a symbol to represent them as savage brutes only. Perhaps white people should actually listen to the people it's depicting?

21+ years and the stadium has had seats removed, covered and empty with home fans last year. Visitors outnumbered home fans.

Try as they might, they might be able to destroy the flag, statues, etc., but nobody can change history. Why are WE paying for the 'sins' of those generations of years ago? Neither the nickel or the team logo are offensive; they both serve to honor and commemorate Indians, aka Native Americans. It's a big deal to be represented on coinage or currency of any nation, and the coins depicted trade at a premium to face value.
Regarding the sports team, most of those with their loincloths in a twist have about as much Indian blood as Fauxahontas, or less. Sports team names are chosen to project positive attributes the team can hopefully emulate. So it was with the DC team's name. Hope Snyder hangs tough against the pressure.
Related note: Nike was a Greek goddess. Wonder how those of Greek descent feel about having one of their historical religious deities culturally appropriated and co-opted by a money hungry operation that exploits poor blacks as customers for its semi-slave labor produced products?

Said nickels were referred to as the Buffalo nickel back in the day (last minted 1937 for the youngin out there)
Its been the jefferson nickel since.
In 2003 the mint redesigned the nickel for 3 years commemorating the Lewis and Clark Expedition from 200 years prior. The 2005 edition included a design of the American Bison (buffalo) on the back - which remains in circulation today.
Likewise once in while a gray beard will find an old buffalo nickel and unknowingly use it to pay for whatever. Thus a nice find when someone else gets it in their change.

The Redskins logo was made by a Native American. They are a proud people, if they take offense the issue is the team hasn't been good since the 90's. Not because they feel the image of a real Native American is something that should be forgotten, hidden and repressed like their people have.

I just found out the new name of the Washington Redskins Football Team! THey have been renamed "The Washington Deadskins!" They are dead to me now! LOL
I am Native American and never found the name Washington Redskins offensive. I was proud of my heritage and the image of an indian used to represent the football team shows nothing less than strength. Dan Snyder could of kept the name if he had offered to financially support Native American programs but he caved to the left wing. Too bad, He is going to lose alot of fans for his weakness.
