New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio knuckled under to protesters Sunday and promised to cut funding to “New York’s Finest.”
Just two days after speaking skeptically of demands by Black Lives Matter and other protesters to defund the police, Mr. de Blasio agreed to start doing so, though he gave few specifics.
“We’re committed to seeing a shift of funding to youth services, to social services, that will happen literally in the course of the next three weeks, but I’m not going to go into detail because it is subject to negotiation and we want to figure out what makes sense,” the mayor said, the New York Times reported Sunday.
He said, according to the Times, that the details of the funding cuts would be worked out before the city’s July 1 budget deadline.
New York City spends about $6 billion of its $90 billion budget on policing.

Tired of the Police being blamed for everything. Mayors appoint Police Chiefs through mock interviews. these same Politians set policies that they expect the Chiefs to execute. These same Politians agree to the Unions demands. These Politians agree to the wording in these contracts / collective bargaining agreements.
Politians are to blame for the irregularities in the policies of Law Enforcement. The Police are their protectors not their political bunching bag for their political advancement.

They want to give more money to poor people???Obama gave them insurance, food stamps, welfare and a phone...for a vote.? I grew up poor but I went to school, got a job and did it right. I treat people like I want to be treated. Yes I have a nice home a business but there again I worked my a$$ of to get where I am..No one ever gave me a damn thing. I sure have given a lot to several other people. I give to children, Veterans and older people. People need to get a job and dont wait for a hand out..
We did not collect federal taxes in this country for 137 years.we started collecting taxes in 1913. The money is for our military and our roads, not to be given to the states. If we stop paying federal taxes there will be no money to give the states. Let those states live well or in squaller, which ever they choose. Most Americans are being robbed through our tax system.

He also said social distancing and mask don’t apply during riots. He used “word salad “ Defense for his stance on it.
And he will "flip" again in a couple of weeks as will most of the Democrats who are saying they are for this defunding. They won't go through with it. Just like they won't tear down the fences around their property or tell their security to put away the guns.
