AS Viewer Writes: The raping Will Continue until all are Satisfied

Joe,

I just got back from ACME in Salisbury because now there’s a line outside Wal Mart, as they only allow a certain number in the store at a time. Yesterday I heard someone waited 45 minutes before just giving up.

Anyway, I needed milk & eggs and a few perishables I ran out of, and when I got to the eggs, there was a sign apologizing for the high prices giving the reason that the SUPPLIERS raised their prices. A dozen of the regular Lucern brand was $3.59, and another brand was over $4. Now, I’ve missed in the news, I guess, that chickens have died off from whatever reason? This is NOT the Avian flue, is it? Why have egg prices doubled???

Now, ACME has always been higher than WM, but most cereal boxes are brand names, Post, General Mills & Kelloggs, and all small boxes near $4, I found the store brand cherries in a big box @$3.59. A liter of Coke is $2.39, milk is $3.59 to $4.29 a gallon.

Welcome to “everything’s $3.59” world!

Because ACME always rapes in pricing. Thats why Foodlion is better. I cant stand ACME and their over the top pricing.

It's not "raping" it's capitalism. Supply and demand. Panic buying. Chickens are not dying, no need to even suggest avian flu. People are home more and doing more cooking and especially baking. Keep in mind that remaining calm includes not fear mongering.

This person is mad about eggs but pharma companies have been doing this to insulin and other life saving drugs for decades.

I had a total cluster at Sams.

Whats the point of ordering pickup, putting your credit card number in for payment, if you have to stand in line to go in the store and pay for it.
I called to resolve and some guy answered the phone saying they were slammed but when I got in the store there was barely anyone there.

Slammed? You only let 25 people in at a time, how slammed could you possibly be? The order pickers are slammed, you are just standing around scratchin your bum.

But after an hour of BS some really nice lady in the check out line helped me. High five nice lady!

Welcome to socialism. Standing in the bread and milk line.

And you know prices will NEVER decrease now that they have jacked them up.

When are you peeps going to understand this has NOTHING to do with a virus. They have permanently changed your world and you have all willingly complied.

Buying cereal is a waste of money no matter the cost.

The suppliers have hit transportation and supply snags there and further down the Cain, where feed is more expensive because of the same issues.

Coca Cola has always been a ripoff at any price, but it also has supply chain fluctuations for flavorings, corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, colorings and sugar. Then there's the cost of packaging, also dependent on raw materials.

It's probably going to get worse before it gets better.

Last year egg producers lost 2.7 cents on every dozen eggs they sold so the reduced flocks to fall in line with demand and reduce costs. The run on eggs spiked demand which causes prices to increase. It takes 4-5 months for a chicken to grow to egg laying size so they can't just ramp up production like other industries.

Eggs still under $2 at aldi. Go to a different store

Some retailers are choosing to continue running ads or not. The prices you see are their everyday prices, but most of the time, they are running a 2/$xxx like 2/$3.50 or 2/$4 on the weeks that package isn’t promoted further

As far as the eggs go, I’d imagine it’s more about catching back up than it is about the chickens not laying them. The panic buy was a shock to the system...you can’t have a surplus built up on perishable items because they’d go bad.

Wal-Marts are Blowed OUT & No Excuse !!! Not sending us new supply !!

2:18pm. Who is “they”?

Anonymous said...

If you shop Acme's sales, the prices aren't bad.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like regular prices for Acme to me.

2:18 Sams has curbside pick up. Select curbside when you sign in for your pick up order. Pull up curbside and they will load your car. I just did this on Sunday.

Gas stations = Worst Rapers !!! Gas should be @ 50 cents per Gal NOW

WHY are there long lines at the grocery store today? This is a surge week with this virus people!! I understand some might need some food but I can guarantee that most people in line can make do with what they have in their house for a little while!! STAY HOME!!

I waited 2 hours next to person coughing and sneezing but I needed butter to make cookies.

It will get worse before it gets better..IF it indeed gets back to better.

I went Aldi for the first time last week. I’m in love!!!

Anonymous said...

Wal-Marts SUCK !! Empty shelves for 3 weeks + !!! NO Excuse

Anonymous said...

We have all willingly complied my ass 2:18. We have survived so far, with much uncertainty. I assume you are still paying pre- covid 19 prices with your registered hands. Keep Traveling

A chicken can only lay so many eggs. Hoarders are driving increased pricing because of the effect on a supply chain that includes things like feed and transport. The locally sourced fresh eggs that I buy are right around their normal price. But local...now and AFTER this is over.

Instacart at Aldis or Acme. (If you have a cell phone with data and a cc!). Shop on line. Someone else goes and shops for you using your list. Substitutions can be made in a chat while they are shopping or line item listed. They bring it to you. Can use your discount card too. $3.99 + tip you specify. Beats standing in line with coughing hacking people!

You're really proud of yourself aren't you? Chest poked out like a proud peacock !!! Lol

I was at Sams also and find their barrier of carts VERY troubling. They literally have you trapped against the building with a wall of shopping carts. Stupidest freaking thing I have seen. Such a hazard.

How do they expect the elderly and disabled to deal with this?

Lawsuit in the making.

Reading comprehension issues much?

I did curbside pickup and the order got screwed up and I had to GO INTO THE STORE to pay for it even though we PAID FOR IT ONLINE which NEGATED the whole curb side pickup.

Wish you idiots would learn to read.

Suppliers are having trouble fulfilling orders after the run on products. Has nothing to do with Walmart or any other chain that has had shortages. It is simply more demand than supply. So there is a legitimate excuse, a real reason. You need to grow up and start thinking.

Anonymous said...

Walmart was forced to limit people

Anonymous said...

At least Acme has wipes by the door to clean cart handles. The Fruitland Food Lion had nothing. And the employee I asked about it was so unconcerned. He should have been out there wiping them down so they were clean for the customers.

You can also thank dumb head mayor day for just making off the cliff decisions with that goof self appointed fire marshal Cramer
Did they coordinate with county officials such as the county command center? You could have worked with the store operators locally...now you push the local manager to report to corporate these crazy regulations...why do you put limits when people can't get what they need now. I am 34 years old and healthy but can't stand in line for hours so I have to do without. Now I will put more demand on the emergency system and get some meals from food bank or school handouts instead of standing in line. Again a dumb mayor showboating instead of working as a team. My neighbor couldn't understand why one Walmart is restricted and other is not as one is in Salisbury and other is in Fruitland with now different rules.
Mayor day needs to get with the plan coordination not doing stuff alone.

Taxes are far more than that.
How about shipping / transport?
You do want to dispense it at a local store, right?

Should the employees get paid, or work for free?

Should the station owner pay rent / mortgage, or just free load. If so, for how long?

Should there be inspections on the tanks and pipes? Repairs? Insurance?

A little over a month ago ACME had a sale on eggs 3 dozen large eggs for $1.41 (a buy 1 get 2free sale)

8:34 - Why do you call someone else an idiot just because you may see something a little differently than they do?

Anonymous said...

lol, I hope that is a joke. It's hard to decipher nowadays with all the stupidity running rampant. However, if is not a joke, then you deserve the coronavirus.

Anonymous said...

It is not Walmart. It is the dumb a$$ Mayor Jake Day that made the restrictions!!!

NOT ME said...

Wow,

I'm surprised you shop there.

The shopping center has gone ghetto...

I belong to M and T at that shopping center....
when I go to the
ATM at M and T
I take my large DOG....

the homies
scramble and leave the area noting I bring my Dog or as they say "DOOG"

That shopping Center is an Ex Inmate hangout

Anonymous said...

Yes! This exactly! Truck drivers are also working overtime to get these products to stores more frequently and as quickly as possible! I can’t stand how people are trying to start and spread panic over nothing!

Anonymous said...

4:22p-it’s the beginning of the month so checks are out and they’re bigger than normal because of stimulus. It’s also Easter Sunday so people are buying for Easter dinner.

There is a difference between seeing something different and not understanding the basic laws of supply and demand. This person apparently believes there is an endless supply of goods and we aren't getting them because they just aren't sending them. That is just stupid and only an idiot would think that, only an idiot would say that there was no excuse for this unprecedented situation without taking the time to examine the circumstances. They would rather vent in ignorance. Individuals like that need 2 things: information and a reality check.

Anonymous said...

April 7, 2020 at 9:36 PM - because people are non thinking idiots that's why.

It is not a case of "see differently"- its a case of being an idiot and not thinking a situation thru or not fully or properly reading what someone wrote and then making an idiotic comment that is nonsense or not in relation to the article.

$2.09 Extra Large at Food Line in Ocean Pines this morning Wednesday the 8th.

Thanks 911

Acme is not only taking advantage of peoples fear with high prices, they have instituted an across the board "no refunds" policy allowing them to sell unacceptable quality food with no recourse. Forget "satisfaction guaranteed." I purchased a container marked "lump crabmeat" to make crabcakes. When I opened it all I found was a wet, gray, spongy mush. I tried to return it less than 3 hours after purchase and was told no returns. Way to make a profit selling garbage A me.

Anonymous said...

So you went out twice just because you craved the essential staple Crabcakes ?
That's how ridiculous this situation is folks.

Anonymous said...

Man, imagine being the person who is glad people are in such dire straights. It says much more about how you are as a person than everyone else. You're the kind of person that drags society down.

Anonymous said...

Yeah crab meat is such dire straights .
