Surgeon General: "Things are going to get worse before they get better"

Doctors and nurses confronting the expanding coronavirus pandemic say getting basic protective equipment, such as masks and gowns, and life-saving equipment, such as ventilators, remains a big concern. By Monday there were more than 35,000 reported cases of COVID-19 in the U.S.; more than 470 people had died.

On "CBS This Morning" Monday, the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, a member of the White House coronavirus task force, said, "I didn't expect to be starting off my week with such a dire message for America, but the numbers are going to get worse this week. Things are going to get worse before they get better. And we really need everyone to understand this is serious, to lean into what they can do to flatten the curve."

With regard to the warnings from health officials and governors to the Trump administration that shortages of critical medical supplies will be catastrophic, Dr. Adams said, "I'm getting those calls every minute of the day. I got calls from people literally while I was sitting here waiting to talk to you. I want the health care workers of America to understand, these are my colleagues, these are my friends, and I will not rest until you all have the tools you need to keep yourselves safe.

A staffer hinted that they have run the figures and were looking at over five million dead at the very least.

And the president wants to start reopening businesses next Monday. He feels the cure is worse than the people being sick.
How completely ignorant can a person be.
This is a highly contagious virus not under control.
But it's hurting the economy so badly he feels it's ok for people to get sick and die.

On average 7400 people die each day in the USA. The first death from coronavirus was 24 days ago. Since the first death from cvirus approximately 175000 people in our country have died and only 500 have been from complications of the virus. Do the math. For this we shut down the economy of our country and put so many people in misery.

The problem isn't just deaths. It's hospital beds and ventilators. Up to now our medical system has kept up. But as we get more cases, we get more people that need ICU and ventilators. These people are needing ventilators for 4-7 days, ICU for 7-10 days. When the hospitals are overloaded that is where you see the deaths skyrocket because those 7400/deaths from other causes will also increase because of lack of resources to help non-Covid patients as well. Stay home and flatten the curve to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed!

"On average 7400 people die each day in the USA..."

And of those 7400 about 105 die each day just from auto accidents, or about 38,000 per year. Should we ban cars and trucks?

218 what you don't seem to get: its the fact of how contagious this disease is. H1N1 infected over 60 million apparently but had a low death rate (less than 0.1%). Death rates may potentially be as high as 3% with coronavirus. 60 million infections would mean 1.8 million dead.

You can attempt to rationalize and dismiss this in any conspiratorial way you see fit. When it comes home it's not about casualties of everyday being accidents and the general poor health of most Americans.

3:12 so far there hasn't been enough accurate info to show that cvirus is anywhere as contagious as H1N1 and the death rate of cvirus is still in dispute. My point is we know there are more deaths from car accidents, smoking, drinking and drugs every day yet we don't destroy our economy for those reasons. If you are afraid of catching the virus stay at home and when you do go out wear ppe, but don't ruin the economy from fear of the unknown.

Coronavirus is really good for justifying the financial collapse and currency reset. Very hard to complain about either one.

Unless Coronavirus is a weapon.
Then we know exactly why they released it
