"People and the news media". First step to dictatorship is stripping the credibility of free speech and your critics. Check.
Why start in 2019? Convenient to the narrative? Go back to the 50s. The world hates America, even those who say they don't only do so because of the handouts. Take that money away and see how loved we are.
