If it had been a custodian in a drug deal with a student I doubt highly that there would have just been a minor misdemeanor charge also BOC would have been airing the story at each newscast....they are downplaying it and trying to keep it burried
I don’t understand the people saying leave her alone... For one she asked a minor and not even a minor.. A minor she was trusted to look after a STUDENT to get her pills. She’s not a bank teller asking some kid at the bus stop down the street for pills she was a TEACHER!! Just because she is the mayors wife and you may love Jake and think he’s gods gift to Salisbury. That’s fine! That doesn’t give this woman the right to do things she shouldn’t do and it be excused! Sometimes people’s spouses do horrible things. If she wasn’t caught this time how long would it of went on for? Just as Joe as stated when you take certain professions you are held to a HIGHER CODE OF CONDUCT! If this was a Salisbury Officer doing this the people saying give her a break would be singing a different tune. Point blank regardless of who this lady is at the end of the day SHE WAS A TEACHER WHO ASKED A STUDENT TO GET HER PILLS. Nothing more. Nothing less.
If this was a teacher without connections what would the charges be? While I do feel sad for anyone with a drug problem, if we are going to charge based on feelings, why is it other teachers without connections would be charged more harshly? The kids are talking big time and apparently there is a lot more to this besides a pill exchange here and there. I would hope the right thing will be done because the entire town is watching.
I have to feel sorry for this lady , just remember she is married to Jake Day , that's enough to start getting relaxers . After that she may need more to help her in the future. Just my opinion , he may be the problem.
Joe, you need to check into the Jake Day who has been abusing Liz for years. This more than likely attributed to the recent issue. The police have been called to the home because of his abuse. He sachets all over Salisbury accommodating constituents and goes home and and verbally and physically abuses Liz. He is in the bar just about every nite while she is home caring for her two little girls. Don’t let Jake Day folk you! Everything he does is calculated to further his career. Jake is a wife abuser check into it before it’s to late.
I agree the venue must change to at least another county maybe western shore far enough away from here that it gets the justice and attention warranted.
I do not know Liz Day and glad I only know of her husband because of his crooked political actions. So I am not taking up for their actions. The crime was against her which involved minors and not her family. Just be glad she is no longer teaching. This should include her family only, her / husband. Others in her family is not an issue. I am sure your family is not a group of angels.
When Jake's driving home drunk from the bar, on a weekly basis mind you, he's not just under the influence of alcohol.
Unless someone else (her mother)is charged, their drug use is none of anyone's business and should not be dragged into this.
So why do you want Joe to dig into her family history? What purpose does that serve? How would you like to have done something wrong and then your parents get drug through the mud. Investigating Elizabeth Day is one thing, digging into her family is another.
I don't care for Jake Day or his wife I just kind of feel sorry for the whole family and the embarrassment the kids will eventually suffer.
How come no more talk about the sexual misconduct with student. talk was running rampant at school. Where there's smoke is usually fire. However that wouldn't be misdemeanor.

It's a messed up situation, but dont keep kicking her while shes down. Even if everything is true, and shes convicted have a heart. People make mistakes especially when addiction takes over their mind and body. I hope they both get the help they need and can begin healing and moving forward. This whole circumstance is terrible. Reading this commentary makes it worse. It is not helpful to read all of the speculation and allegations. If there was a sexual matter, it will be revealed by proper investigation. If Mayor Day is abusive, this will certainly have consequences. If he is having an affair with someone on the county school board, this will certainly have consequences. Gossip does not help let us stop now. Imagine if the allegations are false. How will you all feel then?

Her crimes as well as other associates and “fixers” are not simple misdemeanors as charges state. It is a much deeper conspiracy involving persons at the school, the board, WCSO, SPD, the States Attorneys office, the Mayors office and their media connections.
Children have been physically and psychologically victimized. Yes, that’s plural. Drugs have been exchanged regularly on and off school grounds for compensation of various forms including cash, promises and actions of beneficial grades and treatment, and sexual favors as reported by students deposed at school and at psychiatric appointments. At least 7 WCBOE personnel are aware including teachers, supervisors and upper echelon Admin are aware of the multiple felonies involving many people.
People know. People talk when they see corruption on this scale. Especially when our children are involved. If the states attorneys office continues to sweep this under the rug because it’s politically charged and implicates people they were at christmas parties with even recently, those very people may take action against their inaction exposing them. State police and FBI need to be involved here. There is an effort for that to happen.

2:42 PM, you do realize there is a window for use and showing "clean" right? He's not so stupid (surprisingly) to use before he KNOWS he's going to be tested. I won't even get into what kind of embarrassment he is to ANY military uniform!

Oh good grief! I'm a female. I was just pointing out how people's perceptions have changed over the years. My grandmother was married at 16 as many were back then. And when I was in high school early 80's, there were junior and senior girls flaunting and taunting older guys and knew exactly what they were doing. Teenagers aren't always the innocent children we wish they were.
