Nanny caught on camera abusing 5-month-old twins will serve 30 days in jail

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - A babysitter who was caught on camera kicking and covering the mouths of 5-month-old twins earlier this year was sentenced on Thursday.

McKenna Newell will serve 30 days in jail and spend 36 months on probation after pleading guilty to one count of child abuse.

Judge L. Douglas Hogan sentenced Newell to a prison term "not to exceed" five years, but ordered the sentence suspended. Hogan also suspended a $5,000 fine.

Newell will be required to complete 500 hours of community service, as well as complying with requirements of the Utah Child Abuse registry, among other terms.

30 days active incarceration? That's BS. She should get the whole 5 years for abusing babies.
