A murder suspect had his ankle monitor cut off because he fell behind in payments, officials said.
"It effectively put our capital murder suspect more or less at large," First Assistant District Attorney David Mitcham told the Houston Chronicle.
The man, Clint Walker, was unmonitored for about two weeks, KTRK-TV reported.
Mitcham told KHOU-TV that after $305 in charges racked up, a vendor working with the courts apparently went out and retrieved its equipment and then notified the court.

Better question, why is a capital murder suspect not locked up?
I’m no rocket scientist, but golly moses if it isn’t OBVIOUS that they have a flawed system in place!
Don’t pay?
No problem, they take the ankle bracelet off.
Can you believe it?
Im with 3:16. The system is FUBAR. Private companies seeking profit in the prison system? thats bad all around.. dont pay your bill, or we have prison billets to fill to make more profit. What could go wrong?
Paying for the bracelet must be a condition of making bail. Obviously they forgot to connect a couple of the dots.
