WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a more than $42 million federal contract with Hardwire, LLC, located in Pocomoke City. The contract will provide the Marine Corps with up to 982,749 Soft Armor Inserts. Work will be performed in Pocomoke City and is expected to be completed by 2024.
Hardwire has developed and fielded armor to protect against a variety of threats, including small firearms and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Rep. Andy Harris made the following statement:
“I congratulate Hardwire for winning this $42 million contract, which was competitively awarded by the U.S. Marine Corps. This is obviously a significant contract for an important local employer that will contribute to our local economy on the Eastern Shore. As a veteran, I particularly appreciate Hardwire’s dedication to protecting the lives and safety of our troops in the field. This company and its employees should be proud of the work they do to protect American men and women in uniform who serve in harm’s way on a daily basis. The world is a dangerous place, and Hardwire helps make it more safe.”
