Why Do Feminists Like Ilhan Omar Continue to Wear the Hijab, an Obvious Tool of Oppression

The hijab is a tool of oppression. For sure, not every woman who wears it is being oppressed. But do those who choose to wear it ever think about what they're communicating to their sisters around the globe who are forced to wear a hijab by misogynistic cultures? Do women like Ilhan Omar, who choose to wear the hijab, ever consider that they're aligning themselves with the persecutors of women who are being tortured and imprisoned for refusing to wear it? For example, Yasaman Aryani and her mother are being sent to an Iranian prison for 16 years for daring to appear in public without a hijab. Another Iranian woman, Mojgan Keshavarz, was sentenced to 23 years and 7 months. What does Ilhan Omar have to say to them? What can she say to them while wearing the instrument of their oppression?

Those three women, who are true feminists, received their cruel and unjust sentence on July 31. An article published by HRANA, an Iranian organization dedicated to fighting the subjugation of women in Muslim countries, gives the details of the trial:

Yasaman Aryani, Monireh Arabshahi, and Mojgan Keshavarz, detained civil rights activists of Qarchak prison in Varamin, were sentenced to 55 years and six months imprisonment, combined, on July 31, 2019.

At the branch 28 of Revolutionary Court, judge Moghiseh, sentenced them for “encourage and promote corruption by de-veiling” to 10 years in prison , for “propaganda against the state” to one year imprisonment and for “collusion and assembly to act against national security” to five years in prison. Moreover, Mojgan Keshavarz was sentenced to additional seven years and six months in prison for the charge of “blasphemy”. Lawyer of Aryani and Arabshahi, Amir Reissian, said to HRANA that their lawyers were not allowed to attend their interrogation and trials. Their trials were scheduled without any prior notice.

Doofus headline. If you are muslim, there is a good chance that as a woman you fully believe in wearing a hijab. Its like saying a Seventh Day Adventist is being oppressed because she decides to not wear pants.

Who cares what this Muslim woman wears on her head. But what's stunning is "our government" changed the rules in order to appease her. The rule has been there since 1776 that any member of Congress Not To Be wearing Any Head Covering when inside the Senate or House of Delegates. What would happened if some Senator decided to wear Cowboy hat or Baseball cap - all Democrats would be up in arms! Besides this Omar woman has paid her new staffer/boyfriend $250,000 from the campaign fund, while They Are Both Married to somebody else!? Total Hypocrisy and No Morals in Party of Democ-rats!

Let me slow ot down for you. Neither cowboy hats or baseball caps are a historical component of a religion practiced by a billion plus people around the world. Hope your booty doesnt continue to be sore over a piece of fabric.

She’s definitely not a feminist.

The fabric of reality doesn't change. Just the weave and the print. You can drape yourself in modesty for your oppressive man but you cannot hide from the eye god......yours or ours.

Separate state from church. If you want to be an American be one - leave the head gear in your Muslim country. PS when was the last time you saw a Nun congresswomen.

I'm interested in how her 'faith tradition' handles her ditching of her current Muslim husband and 3 kids to take up with another guy who has left his wife. Reported in British papers with pics and video.

@10:08 it is separate. You will never live out your bigoted fantasy so you might as well stop trying.

6:34 I feel sorry for those 1 billion you spoke of, just as another 1.5 billion who doesn't believe anything. Both groups are equally confused. But to point out the double standard, let's ask why do the Jews have to take their religious head coverings off and Muslims not?
