EXCLUSIVE: Salisbury Fire Department & Fire Boat Crew Did Excellent Job In Wicomico River Boating Accident

While it is unfortunate two people died in this past weekends boating accident, five people's lives were saved, (without any question) because of the quick response and rescue of these First Responders.

Salisbury News is delivering the only footage of this horrible accident in which this boat hit directly into a dock on the Wicomico River and all seven passengers were ejected from the boat.

A special thanks goes out to Presslane for these exclusive images.

Where is the Fireboat? We spent good money on that and we need it on the job!

The Fire Boat was on the scene, as mentioned in the title of this article.

If you look at the first picture you'll see it. They and it did their job.

Sad people died, but lives were saved. Thanks to Salisbury Fire for saving them & SBY News for informing us about this.

The helicopter helped, too.

All 3 fire boats were there. Not just Salisbury.

Just wondering, why no names yet on who was involved in accident? Excellent job Salisbury First Responders.

Great job, neighbors and first responders. You saved lives this weekend. We often focus on the negative, but this deserves accolades.

Shouldn’t that pier that far out in the water have lights?

Nice work SA Fire and others. Tragic.

Yes, my thoughts also

Thanks to first responders.. Engine 16 didn't get wet thanks to the $1M fireboat that's stored in Crisfield.

We are also wondering why the names have not been released.
Nothing on Delmarva Now & WBOC except the White Marlin OPEN.

Anybody been by the Salisbury park today? Jake day is up to it again, must be at least 5,000.00 worth of free bicycles and helmets he's giving away to Salisbury's free loaders

Not merely no names - no information of any kind: age, sex, relationship. Nothing.

Are you new here? The volunteer fire departments outside of Salisbury don't matter.

1:30 I agree. Strange that they're being so hush about it. I mean nothing at all. It's been the talk around the office for two days now, not even a press release from DNR, State Police or WSO. Glad to see the fire dept doing it up right though! Very good work indeed.

It was just reported it was a 20' Bayliner, the victims are not from the area, and (for some reason) they've not been able to inform next of kin.

Anonymous said...

No release of names or toxicology

Anonymous said...

Come on people it's obvious their next of kin are in "another country". The local waterways are full of boat loads of illegals pillaging the resources. They up and down the roads early in the morning with boat and trailer with no running lights etc.

6:08 Thanks for the update. That would explain why we don't know "who". Fully understandable why the have not released the names of the deceased. But they should have sent a press release explaining what happened and the injuries of the others. Not at all sure why they didn't. From what I've been told the dock they hit is unlit and extends out over 30% to 40% of the river. (unconfirmed) If it's a real life threatening hazzard, we should be told that.

The deceased have family members out of country. Have respect for these families.

Anonymous said...

Yes I am.

Anonymous said...

Next of kin might be in an ice detention center.

Great job by everyone involved. Prayers to the families. I travel the Wicomico often and always wonder how some of the length of these piers were approved.
If you don't know the river especially at night it can be very dangerous especially without a spotlight. Again my condolences to the families.

Next we will be required to wear seat belts on boats....until boaters start dying strapped into a sinking boat.

a 1 watt led light on the dock may have saved a couple of lives.

It is not far out & the end is not near the channel where the boat should have been. My thoughts are with those who are recovering & with the families of those who perished.

The pier's end is not near the channel

What happened to Salisbury Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance? I see a ton of code violations in Ghetto'bury!

Anonymous said...

What dumbass is out operating a boat in the pitch black darkness on Poo River anyway? Boats don't have headlights and it is definitely dark at 9:30pm.

Anonymous said...

Right, why were they on the River after dark? Poor decisions. I wonder if alcohol played a factor?

What happened to Salisbury Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance? I see a ton of code violations in Ghetto'bury!

That's a good question. I'm about sick and tired of driving through Ghetto'bury and seeing grass growing up in the streets and sidewalks. I am sick and tired of seeing cars parked on the front lawns of rental properties. I am about sick and tired of seeing sofas and other home furniture on the front porches. What the Hell happened to code enforcement?? Doesn't Jake Day know all these code violations are running this damn city into the ground??

But Wait everyone!! I keep hearing that Jake Day is doing such great things for this city!! Funny thing is no one can tell us what the great things are?? It's definitely not in the neighborhoods!! Salisbury has become more of a Ghetto under Jake Day's watch!! FACT!!

The pier has been there for upwards of thirty years — but yes a couple of solar lights strapped to the piling might have helped. Depending on speed, intoxication (if any) and skill of the driver (or lack thereof).

Anonymous said...

Still no identity of passengers on the boat?? Great job by all responders!!!

Anonymous said...

The helicopter was no help. They stuck around for ten minutes and had to refuel and never came back.

Anonymous said...

Yes it is ElleD, that pier is right against the channel wall, and is required to have a white light (which it did but has not operated in months according to homeowners). So please know what you’re talking about or be quiet.

Anonymous said...

It's not that far. Plus you should never aim towards trees while navigating .

They ran out of fuel. Was able to go to a house on the water . Got some fuel and was rushing back before dark .
