A viewer writes.........Enough already!

It's high time more information about the fatal boating accident August 3 is released to the public.

How many people - what sex and what ages - were in the boat?
Age and sex of the people killed?
Whose boat was it?
What were they doing on the water?
Did they have life jackets? Was alcohol or drug use involved?

Has the operator been charged with any violation?

Does a Freedom of Information Act request have to be filed to get this basic information?! This is a public safety issue and public resources were expended. The public has a right to know.

wow that is nosiest at it's extreme lol. If it was someone you knew or affected you in any way you would know by now. I'm pretty sure until they can make contact with all families involved first they do not need to disclose anything to us.

Illegal activity on the river at night ?

Yep.

From what I heard, there were 5 people on board. 2 died, 2 went to the hospital and one was arrested for DUI (the captain). And, yes, I did hear that they were Hispanic - not sure of what origin - and do not know if all passengers were Hispanic, not that that matters.
It was a pleasure boat that hit the end of the dock. I did see a photo online somewhere.
I did hear that the dock had a light on it, and on past trips along that area at night, I recall seeing a light on the end of the pier.
There, now you can sleep tonight.

10:44 is absolutely wrong. This is public information and needs to be exposed. I do not want idiots like this out on the river with my family. My daughter had to take a boater course just to pilot my little runabout. If these folks are here illegally, I am sure they haven't taken the required boater course and probably don't have driver's licenses.

They're having a hard time locating their next of kin in Nicaragua.

Who the hell is the "viewer" that is complaining? I have a right to know. Identify yourself. Do I have to file a lawsuit to find out? What makes you so special. Nobody OWES you any answers. You are just a busybody.

P.S. It was a drug run.

Thanks 11:48 for hearing all this information and passing it on to the rest of us. Hope you didn't spend to many sleepless nights tracking down this down.
Could you tell us what you have heard about why the arrest has not been released to the news media? DUI's -- let alone those involving two fatalities and extensive and expensive rescue operations -- usually are announced to the public and media promptly. What are your sources for the info you "heard" and what is their explanation for this usual silence?

@10:44 - notice no mention was made about release of names. I am betting that the sex and ages of the victims and survivors as well as basic information about what they were doing on the water could be released without causing undue alarm to the unnamed, and supposedly unknowing, "families involved".

sigh

I guess it is a sign of the times. One of the basic means of safeguarding the public and preserving order is freedom of information. When police and ambulances and a firetruck and a helicopter are deployed and dead bodies removed, the public is assumed to have both an interest and a right to information. That is why, for instance, if person A assaults or kills person B, person A is NOT merely sued by person B. Instead, A is brought on trial by THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE. The Court case would not not be B vs A -- it would be the STATE OF MARYLAND vs A. And the trial would be public.

And again, please dear angry poster -- re-read the OP. The OP does NOT ask for names.

Sheesh.

Years back a guy on Liberty street was found dead and the circumstances suggested he was murdered. Some substance was found all over him.He was found in his house, but the same substance was found in his car and all over his car.Nothing was ever released regarding that issue, and the Freedom of Information Act was ignored by law enforcement.

What about the stolen car that ran into a camper and exploded on Forest Grove Rd a few months ago. I heard he was an illegal and no news ever came out about that incident either.
