Trains running at the speed of sound aren't required to be able to be speedy.

I think the project would look cheap if you compare it to the cost, both in dollars and time, of gridlock traffic.

High speed rail service would be an improvement. But, as the video noted there is a powerful incentive to not change the present mode of transportation that depends on motor vehicles. Lobbyists for special interest groups dominate decision making in America.
