Jussie Smollett had felony charges against him dropped last month, but it appears that he could still have a legal battle on his hands in civil court.
The embattled Empire actor is facing a lawsuit from the city of Chicago over the cost of investigating the alleged attack against Smollett that the city alleges was a hoax.
"The Law Department has filed a civil complaint against Mr. Smollett in the Circuit Court of Cook County that pursues the full measure of damages allowed under the false statements ordinance," the City of Chicago and Chicago Law Department said in a statement released to ET on Thursday.

The FBI needs to get off their lazy dead asses and nail this lying Fu****R to the wall for mailing fake anthrax to the TV studio. Terroristic threat charge and put him in with the big ugly guys in federal prison!
No surprise the Feds are charging him with mailing powder substance to himself. Obama land.
No doubt justice for some but not all.
Jail time needed. Take a pal, Barry, Hillary, Bill on and on.
Just keep suing him and bust his budget with lawyer fees to respond to the lawsuits.
Hope Postal Inspectors and DOJ put him away for a long time. He can watch TV and get his exercise in the courtyard.
