Republicans propose amendment to limit Supreme Court to 9 justices

Republican Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee said Tuesday he is introducing a constitutional amendment to limit the number of justices on the Supreme Court to nine, after several Democratic presidential candidates have expressed support for expanding the number of justices to 15.

"This Thursday, I will be introducing a constitutional amendment that would limit the number of Supreme Court justices to 9 — the number of seats since 1869," Greene said on Twitter. "The Supreme Court must remain a fair and impartial branch of government not beholden to party ... Schemes to pack the court are dangerous to the Founders' vision of an independent judiciary that serves as a check on both the Executive and Legislative branches of government."

The Constitution doesn't specify the number of justices on the Supreme Court, leaving its composition up to Congress. The number of justices changed several times in early U.S. history before reaching its current total of nine.

Dude, you're outnumbered, but get it on the books.

Funny thing about this conversation is the Democrats said nothing when they appointed Judges that ruled by their political affiliation and not by the Constitution. Now they want to change the goal post since there are Judges on the Court that rules by the Constitution. Leave the SC alone. Democrats are attempting to rewrite parts of the US Constitution that they disagree with because it is against their one party rule.

I have a better idea, instead of increasing the number of SC justices why don't we increase the House of Representatives to 1200 members.

Let them move it to 15 NOW and let POTUS Trump pick the next 6. There, they get what they wanted.
Oh, you mean there's more?? They want 6 of THEIR picks.
And they call us deplorable. Give me a break!

11:18 I'm not sure if you are aware, but there are these things called Amendments. You have the same argument that people had decades ago when women and minorities couldn't vote. Something tells me you still wish that were true but the point is that an intelligent society evolves with the times.

1229-You can thank Republicans for getting women and minorities to vote.

12:29 was it not Kagan that drew up Obamacare and then when appointed did not recuse herself and voted on the legality or did you forget? Tell you are a Democrat Socialist and not a Constitutionalist.
