BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Mayor Catherine Pugh has sued the owners of the Pimlico Race Course in an effort of keeping The Preakness in Baltimore.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in a Baltimore Circuit Court on behalf of Mayor Pugh, Baltimore City Council, Tony Bridges, Jimmy Mitchell and Pamela Curtis.
The complaint asks the Circuit Court to declare that state law prohibits the Preakness from leaving Pimlico, absent a disaster or emergency.

"The Stronach Group, who owns the track and race, said in a statement: “These actions are premature and unfolded.”"
Unfolded? Really?
A Baltimore mayor that thinks she rules people who own property and can make them do what she wants. Not these people.
A business can move anywhere they want. They should patent the name "PIMLICO" and that way Baltimore could not benefit from the name. If they move to Laurel they will get a greater attendance, since that is a safer place for horse owners and fans.
That is a disgusting part of town. No wonder they want to move.
But, on the flipside, Baltimore has put a lot of money into that racetrack and should get some sort of return from it.
But can you imagine, being a racehorse owner and going from Churchill Downs to the Preakness. It would be a total culture shock.
It's a sh*thole.
11:24 I second that !!!
Pimlico is good place for a new city dump.It all ready has a head start.
Did Baltimore put money in Pimlico or did they get tax dollars and claim the money came from Baltimore? Baltimore is broke if you take away all State tax dollars and State jobs out. So how did Baltimore invest in Pimlico? Only jobs Baltimore pays for is City Council, Police, Fire, EMS and trash Dept. All other jobs are paid for by the State tax payer. Baltimore is sucking the State dry if the facts were none by the public.
pugh is a freaking bozo.
Did she refund the $500K she received recently for selling her children's books to the state that still can't find out where they were delivered or who approved the order?
Her name says it all regarding her leadership, stewardship and ethics.
Let's hope a federal prosecutor and grand jury take a close look at the hospital's books. Pretty good bet federal dollars can be inferred to have been misused in her elaborate book scheme.
Orange jumpsuit time.
