Decision To Convert Former Correctional Facility To Recovery Center Delayed

SALISBURY – Citing the need for additional information and public input, officials in Wicomico County last week opted to table a vote on accepting a $972,000 state grant to convert a shuttered correctional facility into a drug treatment and recovery center.

Last Tuesday, the Wicomico County Council agreed to table a resolution to accept grant funding in the amount of $972,684, which would be used to repurpose the Poplar Hill Pre-Release Unit in Quantico into a substance use treatment and recovery center.

Since last July, Wicomico County has spearheaded efforts to convert the shuttered, state-owned correctional facility into a treatment and recovery center. The idea is to provide a 23-hour facility for detox services, residential treatment and recovery housing.

“There isn’t currently a 24-7 ability to provide treatment and services to those who need it,” said Weston Young, the county’s assistant director of administration.

Something how Mr Culver has done the very same things Washington Republican are doing to Trump. Selling out to local socialist liberal Democrats Mr.Culveris wrong. This idea is just another stake through the once beautiful Salisbury/wicomico county area. Then to add insult to injury you approve a 220 million dollar board of education budget with ALL the turmoil and proof their abusing the taxpayers. I've said it once and I'll say it again people you should look alot closer at Mr. Culver's proposal for the pirates wharf project. He secured the grant money now what's he about to ask wicomico county taxpayers to add to it?? He personally owns beautiful waterfront farm in the vicinity and will benefit tremendously when the project transpires. RINO ASS****

@5:29 have to agree 110%. Culver was worried about getting re-elected this last time and went back to his hard line conservative TALK and flipped the script again. He's setting himself up to more than likely develop his waterfront farm down in Whitehaven and ride off into retirement with wicomico taxpayers footing the bill to develop the area at pirates wharf which will enhance any consumer prospects
